Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Will stick my neck out and say he's in the top5 amongst strikers along with

Torres
Rooney
Milito
Ibrahimovic
Drogba

He's only scored 14 goals this season, and up until the goal against Mallorca 3 weeks ago, hadnt scored since January...

It's because at times he's too static, yesterday was that I wanted to see from him. He's no slouch at all.
Yeah, I agree. Sometimes he looks like he need some lessons from other quick big men like Iaquinta.

But he didn't drop off and play with his back to goal as much last night with Messi occupying the space behind him and it encouraged him to try to run across Arsenal's defensive line a lot more than usual.

Subbed off at the hour mark after once again failing to influence a match against top opposition. Discuss...

True but for Pep to pull him off with Barca chasing the game shows what the gaffer thought of his performance.

And side note, Barca with a huge case of egg on face at the moment.

If Rafael hadn't been sent off, we might have had Lyon in the semis, and Inter in the final... would have been as good a chance as any to win it again :(

Zlatan has been dire, no surprise to see him canned, bit surprised a full back replaced him when Barca are two down

Or if Rooney had converted that sitter early on for 2-0 away lead.

Or if Evra hadn't had a lapse in concentration.

Or if Bayern hadn't got that jammy goal before half at OT.

Yeah. I could see the logic insofar as Ibrahimovic and Messi were trying to occupy the same space and Guardiola needed to change the shape.

The boo boys are back, everybody in Barca was shite, maybe except for Alves and Pedro

He's not making a convincing argument for being up there with the Worlds best strikers.

A touch of the Berbatovs about him.

Never thought Ibrahimovic was the right player to replace Eto'o, but thought I was proven wrong after the form he showed early on in the season with Barca. I don't think he really excels in the compressed attacking play which Barca so heavily rely on.

I'm sorry, but this man really is fecking shite when the big games come around. He was anonymous today. Barca looked a far better side with Etoo.

They also had alot more goals this time around with Eto'o in the side, I can't deny wanting my boy Eto'o to score at the Camp Nou because a part of me thinks he was fecked over after helping them reach the promised land.

He was constantly linked away even during his class form that season. I don't think his attitude quite converged with what Pep was trying to do there. A parting of the ways wasn't surprising, but Zlatan was a truly shit alternative. They've wasted a lot of doe in that deal. What have they got in return? Nothing that they couldn't have gotten for a striker of half the price.

The top teams have made too much hey against Arsenal this season for it to be co-incidence

They give good teams too much time on the ball, and their defence isn't good enough

Ibrahimovic made the most of it as good players do, but if he's to convince many people that he's really up their with the very best, he has to be doing far better than he has tonight. Maybe going back to Inter got to him I dunno...

It's all very well saying Barca didn't show up, but they did first half. Most of the possession and play away from home, nothing coming from their focal striker. Pedro makes a case for being the best forward outside Messi at that club!

In fairness, he's clearly not shite. He's just a bit too easy to keep quiet in the role Barca play him. Arsenal gave him too much space at the Emirates and he punished them twice, but most teams aren't really giving him that space anymore, and he's not all that willing to make it for himself.

Zlatan hasn't done as bad as everyone is making out, I wouldn't say he's as explosive as Eto'o but he gives them a different option with his height and I think he helps with the passing statistics.

Yep. I was almost inclined to say that his brace against Arsenal didn't really constitute cutting it when it really matters.

Sounds a lot like what people say about Berbatov. What's his stock like at the moment?

He hasn't done as bad as everyone is making out - sure. But look at the way that is phrased. Quite underwhelming isn't it? He's the second most expensive player in football history, playing in the 'dream team' - those who are underwhelmed are fully entitled to be.

I have never rated the player and he keeps proving me right, game after game.
