This will be a magnificent addition to the squad.

Of course, football is a team sport, and if we don't have the right qualities as a unit next season Zlatan won't be able to have the impact he's capable of. I have said before that expecting one big name signing to "save" you never works. The club needs to create a level of performance to enable that marquee signing to have necessary influence.

But assuming that we do that, this guy and his mentality is a good fit. Ibra loves to feel important and be important. The possibility of being a star man in the most watched league on the planet, and even moreso, driving the biggest club of that league back to the title after a lull, is something that he will relish.

It is pathetic. If you're paying for it you should be allowed to have whatever name you want printed on your shirt.
Imagine getting Gerrard or Carragher on the back of your United shirt. Probably the only way the would have got the Premier League Winners badges on the sleeves

Difference with this guy and say Falcao or RvP is that he isn't injury prone. He is a very fit man and for free he will be a great asset to us.
Also, he's not a pure goalscorer. He has more to his game. Being a frickin' giant man who loves roundhouse kicking players makes him more likely to do well in the PL too.

I wouldn't want to be the first defender to try and kick him one. He will be leaving the field on a stretcher.

The big smile at the end of the interview was pure quality. Going to China for a payday now is crazy when he can come to United and win the title in the best league in the world. Hes said hes only warming up and not done yet so why take a couple of steps down to join the Chinese league. I'm sure after a season or so with us, providing he still produced, he would still get a similar offer from China.

"it's a done deal", What a strange comment to make.

Are we to believe that the club shop guys have been briefed?

Ed Woodward:"Psst! Psst! Hoy! Letter man! Prepare your letters and learn some swedish, you are going to need it"

Of course not.

Some joker goes in and tries to order the shirt.

"I'm afraid we can't do that."

"But it's a done deal!"

"Doesn't matter. We can't do that sort of thing until something is announced."

That doesn't mean they actually agreed, that they know anything about a deal

The serving guy was the one who said it's a done deal though.
He didn't need to say that.

I wonder what the actual training is, no putting any transfer rumours names on shirts, or just no non United players.

And ID anyone who might have the surname of a player, that isn't a common name, like Smithy or Jones?

Sounds a bit above the level of the average shop kid!

Beauty with Zlatan is you don't need a creative central midfielder, or 10. He will do all that. He would (will) so enjoy playing with Martial, i'm sure of it, another player that can make things happen. This is why i don't really want us to play 4-2-3-1. What is more important is having central midfielders that can make runs in behind defences. I suppose both Rooney and Herrera works. Just imagine having Pogba, though..

i think i've come round to zlatan considering my worry about his lack of pace these days... he can score goals from like 3 miles away, so what difference does it make if he has pace or not? the guy is a legend. can't wait to get him in our starting 11.

Ibrahimovic:

''I have a great relationship with Mourinho and we are in contact, but not in the last weeks - we have been talking for many years.''

Regarding the prospect of Mourinho taking over at United, Ibrahimovic said: ''I think it is a great move - if you want action you bring Mourinho.
''I believe he is the man to take them back to the top.
''Wherever he went he has won. He knows what he is doing. If you want to win, you bring Mourinho.
''I had a fantastic time with him when I was working with him - so working again with him...?
''When I left Inter I said we had had a short time together but a great time. If we will work together again, I don't know. Let's see how things play out.
''I don't give guarantees - but there are concrete offers from the Premier League, so let's see what happens.''

It was also put to Ibrahimovic there have been questions over whether he would be suited to the Premier League, given his age.
He replied: ''I am only warming up. I had a fantastic season and proved age is just a number.
''Everything is in your head - whatever you want to do, you will do it.
''If I want to make it, I will make it. I am not worried.''

Jesus, the only thing left for him to say was that I want to join Manchester United. Seems to me that everything has been agreed.

People expect far too much of him.

He didn't need to say that.
It was just a throwaway comment from someone who's probably following the story on Twitter and regards it as a done deal. "Yeah we both know we're signing Ibrahimovic but please understand that I still can't put his name on the shirt, sorry".

If Rashford can grow into an insight right role then a front 3 of Martial Zlatan and Rashford would be great. This is assuming no further recruitment in attackers too.

Yes. He's being built up as some sort of saviour. Same thing happened with Schweinsteiger (I was guilty of that too).

Schweinsteiger had an injury and relatively poor form prior to joining us. Zlatan, whilst in a far lesser league, has scored 50 goals(?). That still means something.. even though its the French league he still broke records there.

If this comes off, then we just need a right winger and our attack will look very tasty for next season. Martial---Zlatan---RW.

Precisely. It's not gonna happen and I personally believe he'll have an even lesser Berbatov-style impact on the field. He isn't made for this league at all.

That'd be an epic combo, well, pending the third part! With Rashford to rotate in here and there.

Next season will be more fun than this one to say the least!

But there will also be two out of Higuain, Benzema, Morata and Icardi to fit in somewhere

Will only be a great signing on the pitch if we can invest in our midfield, we so need a player like Matuidi in there that can run beyond Ibrahimovic and still get about the pitch all game. Hopefully Schneiderlin can do this more, he used to seem much more mobile in the Southampton midfield alongside Wanyama.

Further investment is key for Zlatan to prosper.

He's not built up as some of sort of savior. We need someone to score goals not save us, and he'll score goals.

Btw in Croatian his name means Golden. :D

Indeed, been saying it a lot. Pogba is probably a pipe dream and probably Koke as well. Saul i think could be a good fit. Kanté might be able to be instructed to make more forward runs, especially if we play 4-3-3 with a DM behind. But, yeah, otherwise Herrera, Rooney and maybe Schneiderlin can do it. Don't think further investment in CM is key for Zlatan to perform, he'd perform with our current team, but it would certainly help. Personally think RW and CB are the most important positions for us to strengthen in now.

Tottenham also interested according to Di Marzio.

How are they going to pay his wages? I doubt Levy will pay that.

Yes I know it's a free. But when Kane sees what Zlatan is on then he'd want his wages increased.
