Costa has scored 32 league goals in 54 appearances for Chelsea and he was at least 47 when he joined them ffs. Zlatan will be fine.

The weirdest thing about Costa is that he's never been cited in any quantum physics paper. There he is every (occasionally) week playing along side Fabregas, in plain sight, completely disproving the double-occupancy theory.

It's irrelevant, on that basis, you could say he has dark hair, and players with dark hair do well. You need to understand the important variables. While I realise his game has never relied on speed, he has never played in the PL and will be 35 for the majority of the first season. I am not saying he won't do well, in fact I'd like us to sign him, but the muppetry here is silly, there is a left wing and right wing in this thread whereas I believe the correct version is somewhere in the middle. He would be a good signing, but if you believe he'd score 50 goals in the PL for this Utd side who will have hired a new manager, I'd suggest putting down what you are smoking.
Who cares how old he is. If he gets us 20 goals in the league, I'll be happy with his performance regardless. It's just about having enough weapons in attack so that Martial isn't being double marked every single moment of the game. He also has the ability to create something out of nothing, which is a trait that has been sorely missing from our squad for quite a while now.

OK, let's ignore the fact that paying him inflated wages could reinforce the impression that we're mugs in the transfer market - making us look desperate - and instead just focus on the possibility that we're getting yet another ageing mercenary who's joining purely for the payday while taking the place of a talented younger player who actually has something to prove.

I'm basing the lack of interest from others on media reports. This whole thread is based on media reports as is the potential move to United. So I think that's fair.
If he is a Cantona like 50 goal a season striker then other clubs would be interested. Doesn't matter what they need, there's only about 4 of those players in existence. You go for them. Especially on a free.
The idea that nobody can match what United are offering is crazy. If other clubs were seriously interested of course they could match and exceed what we have. We've just finished fifth, play terrible football and can only offer him Europa football. This in possibly the last year of his career. I also very much doubt he has a burning desire to live in Alderley Edge.
Yeah that's my fear. They'll both end up playing and there's just no way that will work.

I wouldn't mind him on a year's contract, good option to have, just can't see him and Rooney working together.. Then you have players like Mata and Fellaini who aren't full of pace either.
I think Fellaini, Rooney & Mata should all be sold, move Blind to CM and buy a proper CB and a fast attacking player like Griezmann/ Sanchez/ Reus/ Hazard/ Mane etc
I mentioned neither his form or becoming average, both of which are excellent. I just think for a player his age, it is a dhit load if money.

I understand that he was better in other leagues as well and I did acknowledge by saying that I don't think he is overrated.

He would bring an improvement to the squad but that's not enough to warrant getting him. There's numerous ways to improve this United team, let's pick the best one.
Put Martial up front. He'll score as many as Ibra in this league, offer better movement and will be a year closer to becoming the world star we all think he'll be. Then sign a winger who we can get 8 years out of. Build a team.
Surely that's preferable.
He's quite expensive in terms of wages and will need a key role in the team, Zlatan is not the one to warm the bench. There aren't many top clubs who could afford his salary who are in desperate need of a new striker.
