He's 35 in October. It's a silly age for any striker. And trust me, if a club as rich as PSG wanted to keep hold of him, they would have.

Zlatan has 'silly' stats for any striker. I don't think Zlatan did want to renew his contract for many reasons and last year, the club couldn't expect his recent performances.

But Zlatan Ibrahimovich is different. He is God.

I used to post on a PSG forum. Each player has a dedicated thread. The thread of Zlatan is entitled "Ibrahimovic - God".

Schweinsteiger? He's 3 years younger than Zlatan.

Schweini is another story: he has played most of his career in one club in Germany.

Zlatan left Sweden at the age of 19 to join... the Netherlands and then... Italy and then...Spain and then... Italy and then...France.

Can Zlatan play as a 10 behind Rashford?

No, he can't be considered as a support striker or a traditional #10. However, he alternates between a role of pure striker and a role of 'false 10'.
He needs freedom and to touch the ball so he likes to create opportunities outside the penalty area for the wingers who cut inside for instance.
So it makes sense to have Rashford on the right & Martial on the left.
Mata on the right would be an extremely bad idea like Cavani on the left in Paris.

Agreed. As I said if it was Rooney out and say Griezmann & Ibrahimovich in I'd be bouncing off the walls; as I'm sure he will have his uses and along with a versatile, quick forward in their prime it's another option.

I'd take Ibra if I knew he was a cheap option for a while. But he will send up our wage bill, limit Rashford's chances (he's already a better player than Ibra is now) and take up a space from another player who could do what he does.

Obvious wum is obvious.

Yeah that's a good idea as well. Let's have a go at that.

Bastian Schweingstiger is still a year too young.

How old was Schevchenko when he arrived in the Prem but couldn't adapt?

Crespo?
I agree it by no means a sure thing

But a one year deal will be worth the risk

If they give him a 2 year then you start worrying about losing a lot of cash

It's impossible to judge the last few years because we've been negative and as a result, sometimes we've had to take the one chance we created. Our passing has been slow and we've lacked quality from out wide from wing (aside from Martial) and full back positions. It's not like we'd only bring in Ibrahminovic and most of his play would hopefully be in the final third. Our spending won't stop at Zlatan. Some people just need a little imagination and understanding that we can bring in someone like Sane or use Rashford/Wilson. Jose will buy players so it's impossible to say this would be a bad thing.

Comparing ages of other players in respect to Zlatan is pointless. They're not Zlatan.

Zlatan is a freak. Physically he is excellent. Still very mobile, very powerful. You'd have a point if Zlatan had showed signs of ageing and signs of an evident decline in his quality. He's just not done that.

Who gives a feck about wages? It doesn't come out of our pockets. You're not having an extra £500 stuck on to your season ticket because Zlatan needs a signing on bonus, so money has nothing to do with it from a fans perspective. It's all about the quality, and he has it. For a free transfer, it's definitely worth a punt.

Rashford is better than Ibra.

How deluded are you?

Nah, merchandising will kill it.... it's the one thing the Glazers are great at, making money.

P.S. Rooney costs £15m a year...:eek::eek:

Exactly. Plus the huge sums of money if he contributes to the clubs success. For example if he'd of helped us get just one more point this year we would have qualified for the champions league which is 65 million I believe.

Its a bloody one year contract. No transfer fees. Just salary. That is the definition of cheap. Rashford needs at least another year or two to comfortably lead the line like Kane.

Zlatan up top with rashford and martial either side will do wonders, don't know why so many fans are against this idea
We get a world class striker after we've had 3 seasons of shit. Some will never get satisfied or they just love wumming.

Everyone will get their fair share of games next season, Ibra is not going to play every single full game.
Honestly some of you annoy me with the "it will stop x young player getting games if we buy this guy", do you want the club to challenge/win things or not?

Aguero has in 9 games in CL this season 2 goals and 0 assist. He must be shit.
In fact, let's only try to sign Ronaldo or Messi, no one else even has a comparable record.

If we can't sign either, let's sign no one until somebody else has that kind of record and proves they are good enough.

No idea really. Ideally a striker/ right winger who can play either or. Otherwise worry that Rashford, Martial, Rooney and others will struggle for game time.

We will be ok with a smaller squad this year.
Wait you argued signing Ibra will limit Rashford's chances and time to start but you still want us to sign a striker? So its okay if another striker limits his chances as long as its not Ibra? Also if we sign another striker, then we have to pay transfer fees + salary which will be well over the salary we are going to give Ibra. Also if we sign another striker like Auba or Lukaku then he will be directly competing with your favorite Rashford for many years to come. With Ibra its going to be a max of two years by which time Rashford would have matured enough to lead the line providing he develops.

Could this have any impact on a bid for Pogba with them sharing an agent?
I dare say bringing Zlatan will make us attractive to a lot of great players that might be hesitant. Pogba with his Utd connection as well.. Ye, i could see it happen.

Thats the only thing that puzzles me. I mean you look at his record for PSG , why would they let him go?, for free as well
If you actually read a bit of football news, you would find out that PSG actually wanted him to stay and offered him a contract, but he said they would have to replace Eiffel Tower with his statue instead if they want him to stay. They even name a stand to his name.

He is the key player of PSG, a team that is significantly better than most if not all PL teams, yet people thinks he is not good enough to play in PL.

Not the striker I would have hoped for but if signing Ibra on a free means we still have funds to fill the other gaps in our team without compromising on quality then it's a no brainer.

Also how did this work out for us this year?

Taking Ibra is a bit of a no brainer. He'll either have the Cantona effect or the Falcao effect. No-one knows for sure but he's definitely worth taking a punt on, especially with Rooney dropping into midfield. There'll be enough games for everyone and it'll give us the strength in depth to start competing properly and going for trebles and quads like we used to under SAF.

We're making assumptions that Rashford or Martial will not get injured the whole of next season so it would be great to have him on board. The blueboys are already pissing themselves!

Rashford better than Ibra. The wumming was going well before that comment. Too obvious

Bad.

We had a lot more games though.

We have the Europa league, which I'm betting we will take seriously. Our coefficient in Europe is a joke and we need to improve that.

So we'd have the same amount of games for the first half of the season.

If you ever wonder why people don't take you seriously, shit like this is why.
