Yeh tbh i do agree that Rashford isn't ready to be the main man just yet so Ibra makes perfect sense. I would also go all out on that RW spot for someone with top quality, but thats not to say that Rashford shouldn't be given the chance to play there. We haven't really seen enough of him out wide to judge if he can play that position properly

I'd agree with that as well, but, he shouldn't be first choice there going in to next season. Between right wing and up top he should get plenty of playing time.

Darmian......Smalling....Stones........Shaw

..............Herrera......Schneiderlin.........

.........Rashford...Rooney.....Martial.......

.......................Zlatan........................

I would be delighted with that starting 11 next year.
No way Jose is only going to sign two players, one on a free. He is going to splash the cash.

Yeh that would be his first position for me, but by his own admission he wants to play ST so i don't see how being 3rd choice for that role is a negative. It would take abit of an injury crisis for us to even get to that point anyway so i just think for the sake of saving resources for more pressing issues this one is best left with signing just Ibra up top.

My point is.. I don't think Ibra is good enough to be our de facto number one striker. I don't think Rashford is good enough either at this moment in time. To get top 4, Zlatan is enough.. but to win the Premier League??

When there are sides out there with likes of Sergio Aguero, Lewandowski, Suarez.. strikers in their prime, for United to get to that level in a short space of time, we too need a striker in his prime.. it will take our attack to the next level.

Ibra and Rooney? both are past their peak. For me Zlatan can still play CF to a good level, but is a title winning CF at this stage in his career, can he be the 30 goal a year man in english football? I would say no - glad to be proven wrong on this. Rooney for me has no business being at the club at CF.

Rashford is young and lernin but not at the level to be our go to option if the Zlatan signing doesn't quite work out.

We need a Griezzmann or Aubameyang, to revitalise our attack.

He's 35 in October. It's a silly age for any striker.

And trust me, if a club as rich as PSG wanted to keep hold of him, they would have.

He turned down a new contract.

Obviously it wouldn't of been of lucrative as his expired one, but they did offer him the chance to stay and he has chosen to leave.

It's slightly disturbing that there are several erroneous impressions reg. Zlatan. Rashford is a Ronaldo type striker? Great:

Not a good team-mate? Yet the impression Verratti, Thiago, or Ancelotti (who managed him) give is one of mutual respect and admiration. Pity that old narratives ring loud enough to drown all of that out.

Of a fact, there are many that dislike him but these are opponents who have felt the wrath of Zlatan. One only has to look at the Swedish national team. He is miles ahead of them in terms of talent and ability and despite all the media talk of his ego, they all admire him because he is a real leader that fights for the shirt and his team mates with everything. It's remarkable how the younger players in clubs he has trained with say that he is an awesome mentor!

I have this strange feeling that City will sign him :nervous:
"You have no balls. Mourinho makes you shit your pants. Go to hell." - Zlatan to Pep during his Barcelona days.

If Zlatan signs for City I'll eat my own arse.

Each to their own, id expect 20 goals from Ibra next year which is modest compared to this season, when thats combined with 20 for martial and 15-20 from the RW(say mahrez) then we wont be reliant on a single scorer. Ibra is still every bit as good as those strikers on this seasons form tho.

Signing a past his peak Zlatan as our only striker would be a recipe for disaster. We cannot challenge for the League with just him as a leading striker backed up by Rashford.

The EPL is a much quicker league than Ligue 1, with stronger teams. If Jose is smart, he won't put all his eggs in one basket with this signing. More than enough games to go around.. I hope to see Zlatan at his flat track bully best with a more dynamic striker utilised for the majority of our campaign like a Aubameyang/Higuain/Morata.

This is a league in which Graziano Pelle has hit 12 and 11 goals in two seasons. Giroud has scored 57 goals in 135 games. Irrespective of his age and the higher intensity, in a good side (fingers crossed) Ibrahimovic should have no problems scoring goals in England.

This signing makes sense, personally speaking. Rashford will get plenty of games. We've got Martial and Memphis that can cover. Hopefully there'll be a new right sided attacker in the mix, too. We don't need three first team strikers.

Leicester won the league with just vardy and ulloa as the strikers. I think you're underestimating both rashford and Ibra a little

Zlatan will be useless even if he's free. Rashford has nothing to learn from Ibra as he's more a Brazilian Ronaldo type of player. And he's a really bad influence in the locker room.
I'd rather someone who kicks players up the arse (physically and metaphorically) when the team isn't doing well than someone who sits there and claps because he thinks it's the taking part that counts.

Well yes there is that, but 4999 times out of 5000.. they wouldn't win the title, so in general football isn't that hard to predict and signing a top striker in their prime is a good guarantee of goals.

Jermain Defoe managed 15 goals for Sunderland at the age of 33 this season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will just about cope, I reckon.

I think people are too caught up on Falcao (and probably Schweinsteiger) basically, the situation with Ibra is not the same in the slightest. He'd be coming to us off the back of a great season in France with no real signs of slowing down. Physically he's in great shape and he's never really relied on speed. His age shouldn't be a problem.

Please be true, please be true, please be true.

My favourite non-United player coming to United is the stuff I touch myself to at night. I'll get his kit. I don't even care what number he gets. I'll buy them all. 1-99 with Ibrahimovic on the back, home, away and third kit. And a keeper kit too for good measure. And then new sets with Zlatan on the back, just in case.

This is EXACTLY how I reacted to the signing of Bastian last summer, hahaha!

Can't believe next year they will be playing together AT UNITED.

Why do I not see him signing? Just can't see it.

If it were to happen though, I would absolutely fecking love it.

I love Zlatan but it's obvious his skills are on the down. I think he won't be as good as RvP the first two seasons but not as bad as his last one.

Maybe 20 goals all comps.

They clearly aren't on the down given he had his career best year last year. 51 goals is nothing to scoff at and even if he knocked in half that in the Prem, we would be far better off than we were this year.

As was Cantona. We really need to take up a siege mentality, far too many teams think we're there for the taking. He's perfect to illustrate that.
