That performance summed up why I don't think he'll do well in the Prem.

Yeah mate, presumably you think we shouldn't sign Kane or Lewandowski because both of them had even worse performance than him.

He was used as if he were Fellaini in this game. What a waste.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it. Such a waste of his talents and yet had a part in Sweden's goal.

Swedish players have no teamwork. They can't connect 2 passes together. Ibra alone can do nothing. He still played a part mind you

But Ibrah on a free isn't much of a gamble. If he's shite, we just don't have to play him.

In my opinion he'll have big numbers at United vs weaker teams, but that's exactly what wins you titles and that's exactly what we missed last season.
I can't remember how many point we dropped against the bottom 8 but it wouldn't surprise me if we won the league if we won those games.

He was tightly marked all match; basically the Sweden team are so poor that Ireland focused all of their attention on Ibra and yet he still set up the goal. He's playing in, what looks like a very poor Sweden team. He had some good touches last night and one well taken shot that just went past the post. He was Sweden's best player after Olsson.

I'd actually say that's one of the larger risks we're taking with this signing. That approach might work with Memphis, but Zlatan isn't coming here to warm the bench. His ego will demand a starting spot each week, and with his no doubt ludicrous wages he'll get it. It's a risk we have to take regardless, the payoff is far too big not to, but if he flops - we're fecked. It would be the Rooney situation all over again.

Mourinho will have absolutely no problem benching him don't worry about that

It's still a gamble as he'll be taking up a spot in our squad. If he's shit, we're down a striker. Not to mention we'd probably have to put up with him being shit for a good while, similar to Falcao.

No such thing as a free transfer. Ibra will be paid a signing on fee added on to the length of his contract by the way of an increased salary.

Like any transfer, it's a risk. But to suggest that performance alone sums up your feelings is just unwise. Why judge him on a single or a few performances and not on an outstanding career?

He will flop here imo

People forget the French league is rubbish compared the PL

I saw nothing in yesterday's performance that suggested he's any better than what we've got. Only one game though, I'll reserve judgment.

Given the absolute crapness of the Swedish NT in this era i must commend him for his enormous patience with his teammates and for even showing up at the arena.

He is so alone, no Freddie Ljungbergs, Henrik Larssons or Olof Mellbergs to help him out.. Only a crapload of dusty FC Copenhagen and greek league players...

Sweden won the under 21 euros last summer but still play with the same old spineless pieces of crap every game..

Right use the euros to judge zlatan because that is a totally relevant representation of how he will need to play in the PL...

Did Martial or Pogba look good for France ? Did Lewa look good for Poland ? Did Hazard or De Bruyne look good for Belgium ? No doubt later today I will be able to say did Ronaldo look good for Portugal ?

How one does in international games is probably the most irrelevant measure ever to judge if a player will be good for a club or not. It is a totally different setting and it is totally uncomparable.

You can put Messi infront of that Sweden team, with service like that he would also be invisible for most parts of the game. It is still a team game, apart from Zlatan that Sweden team is pretty shite and they were especially shite versus Ierland.

I'm not basing my whole opinion of Zlatan on that one game. I'm saying that game is how I would imagine his move would end up.

I have the same doubts.

I am kind of hoping that his insistence on participating in the Olympics scuppers the move and we go looking for a different option. We do not need to become a temporary destination for another ageing stars final big club hurrah.

Even if you buy into the whole 'Ligue 1 is shite' thing as a reason for not wanting him, his level over there is still incredible. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that 50 goals over there would translate to 20 something over here. Those are numbers we could do with, and we're unlikely to find them elsewhere. Plus, if the subpar opposition is the reason he's trouncing it every week, why did he not make mincemeat of that Irish defence? It's much more likely to be a combination of poor team mates and a personal off day than anything else.

Zlatan is not just another ageing star

In that regard the club should have moved on Carrick, not given Rooney a contract extension, stayed away from Falcao and possibly Schweinsteiger but the one older star that is still actually good and scores 50 goals for PSG, no we should not sign that one for free... caftard logic at its finest

If Ligue 1 isn't poor, then why is he only being expected to score 20+ in the PL?

I read a lot of people saying stuff like Ligue 1 isn't poor and that Ibrahimovic is in amazing shape, so why shouldn't he be scoring 30+ goals in the Premier league next season?

I can't help shaking the feeling with Ibrahimovic that if he actually as good as this forum seems to think he is, then why aren't other teams in for him.

He was up against 2 poor premier league defenders yesterday and was one of Sweden's poorest performing players.

Still it was him fixing Swedens "goal"

I never said it wasn't poor. Anyone can see the standard of the league as a whole is below the top European divisions.

As for the second point, how do we know more teams aren't in for him? He said himself he'd had tonnes of offers from England alone.

Zlatan gets beaten with the "shit league" stick, despite proving he's capable in various leagues. Why doesn't Veratti get the same treatment, who has only done it in Ligue Un and Serie B? I'd imagine most of this forum would pay any fee to see Veratti here, but the supposed shit league doesn't come in to it.

For me personal Veratti has got time and the legs to adapt and try at a higher level. Ibra has been at that level for years but is now declining and will not be able to adapt to a more demanding league.

I think it has to be his age. They assume Verrati could do it anywhere since he's 23, but are sceptical of Ibra since no 34 year old striker should be able to rack up the numbers he does. It's easier to bring up the standard of French football than admit that in real life, a players career doesn't always go down the shitter once he turns 30 like on football manager. He's done it in Serie A and La Liga, I'm not sure what other proof he can provide that doesn't require a time machine.

He's just had his most productive season.

When the team play well, it is because of his brilliance, he brings out the best of his teammates, he makes the team better. When the team play like crap, it is because his teammates are just suck, there is nothing much he can do. Oh yes, sounds so familiar.

If it is how he see himself in a team, such individualism, no thanks. When ManUtd win, they win as a team including the manager, when ManUtd lose, they lose as a team, including the manager.

I mean yes. That is how I feel. I don't think that is a ridiculous stance either really.

Only it is... he's literally still improving year upon year. The opposite of declining. To decline you have to show signs of getting worse. He hasn't.

He's getting older. I think that's the word you are looking for, older.

Did he ever say team won because of his brilliance and lost because of his teammates?

He doesn't see himself like that, it's his fans.
