Youri Tielemans

Interview with Tielemans himself:

wo 17/08/2016 - 18:05 "Ik heb nooit contact gehad met José Mourinho", reageert Youri Tielemans.

I've never had contact with José Mourinho.

So.. What's the lowdown on this guy? Is he still an exciting prospect? Seems to have gone under the radar for a while

He had a fairly underwhelming season last year but he's back to being one of Anderlecht's/the leagues best players (alongside another young talented CM Dendoncker). There are mutters in Belgium media that he will leave this summer; Anderlecht's sporting director alluded to something like that.

Probably move for a fek ton of money this summer or next

I don't know about that. The most expensive player to come out of the Jupiler league ever is Romelu Lukaku at around 22 million €. Leon Bailey moved for just around 13 million € and he was pretty hyped up aswell.

I really hope there's some truth in the rumours that Mourinho called him last summer and that we're just giving him a chance to win the league again with Anderlecht.

Perhaps I'm showing my age but 13m on a kid is a fek ton of money by my standards and I suspect he will go for more than bailey

If we get him for 13 million he would be cheap.

Martial was 35m ish and Renato Sanches was also quite high

Tielemans came out and said the story isn't true at the time. Still imagine he is a player we and a lot of clubs are interested in.

Our own Fellaini also moved for around 22 million euro to Everton back then according to Transfermarkt.

Anwyays, hope the kid steps up - still young so I suspect he'd move to an almost-club where he got regular gametime to develop.

Is Tielemans a DLP in the mould of Carrick or is he the kind of playmaker to play on the right of a midfield three, like Verratti?

He's a playmaker in the Kroos/Verratti mould. Plays beside Dendoncker in midfield who's a more physical combative player to complement.

Certainly more atacking than Carrick...
You could possibly play him and pogba together but you would probably want a dm with them

Sounds like this young may not be the kind of player we're looking for then.

I don't think Mourinho will be interested in Tielemans either but I think it's also unlikely we'll be looking for a 'Carrick replacement' - i.e. a like-for-like switch.

2 stunning goals in 2 minutes against Ostend yesterday.

Wow, could actually be on his way to the top, has scored 16 goals this season from midfield and is only 19 years old, cant help[ but feel Real Madrid/Barca beckons

Two great feet there, is he predominantly left or right-footed?

Seems to have really kicked on this season. Stagnated a bit last year it seems considering how early he came on the scene. I remember him saying in an interview that we are his dream club. Part of me would to love to sign him but then I'd love Pereira to get a proper run next season too.

Did we not have some sort of arrangement with Anderlecht a little while back or am I confusing that with someone else?

We used to send players on loan to Antwerp. Could that be the mix up?

Edit: I was too slow :(

He looks great and I like the talk of being a leader but at what age was he allowed to look after the house keys?

Seems like someone who looks great on video but would get eaten alive in the PL like Depay.

Totally different kind of player though.

I don't think he's going to go to the likes of Real, Barça... anytime soon. He's ready for a move though, he's really kicked on this season.

The first one is good but that second is an absolute beauty. Both feet too.

After reading this post and then to see this first goal I was like "whaaaaat", then indeed, second one with his weaker foot was superb!

I like the way he sort of shoots to the keepers wrong side, as he's travelling to the right he shoots to the left and the keeper has a real hard time of adjusting to the opposite direction in which he's moving in! Clever player, great technique too.

I've never seen him play but we certainly need a few more midfield options.

Two great strikes but unless he's intelligent to make that space for himself, he wouldn't get that much time in the PL.

Didn't he have a disappointing start to the season or was that last season? To have 16 goals for a CM is good going.

If his defensive game will be improving just like hollywood attempts on goal I don't see why United wouldn't be interested in a player who looks like Mike Smalling's younger brother.

He started his adventure with Anderlecht by playing deep so he could already have a basic grasp what Mourinho would expect from him. Still a teenager so it's early to make a definitive judgement but someone may scoop him sooner or later.

Last season. He has been great this year.

He's currently captain, and before his blip last season he was a real leader in the team 2 years ago.

Really like this kid. What I took from the clip was that he's two footed and the captain. Hes only young, I think we need to be in for him in the summer

Oh yes and they are cracking goals, if we had him and PP in the team that would make us dangerous from distance
