Youri Tielemans

17th goal of the season. (7 pens) Could be the record JPL transfer fee.

Should be the record without a doubt. It stands at 22m euros for Lukaku I believe. In this day and age of transfer fees, Tielemans should go for 25m or more I should think. How many top teams are tracking him? Every belter he scores adds a bit to his fee. I'm also excited to see him feature a little more often for our NT. Witsel going to China should open up a spot in midfield, which wouldn't necessarily be taken by Tielemans, but should allow him to become one of the first subs there.

What is he exactly, #8 or #10?

Or perhaps more importantly, what would he be in the PL \ at MUFC?

Number 8 for me. I've said it before, but I don't see a spot at United for him with Pogba playing here. He wouldn't be starter anyway, that's still too early.

Yeah, he's definitely a central midfielder who does more in the opponents half than in his own. He's not the strongest or quickest either, so I reckon he'd be at his best in a midfield three.

I would love to see if Pochettino could entice Tielemans to join Tottenham as he has a proven track record of playing and developing young players and he'd be joining a strong Belgian contingent in the club.

Depends on his desires though as anything financially based will see Spurs down the pecking order obviously.
You already have Thiago, Vidal, Sanches & Kimmich.
And Sebastian Rudy is joining in the summer on a free.
Truly flattering for Youri. They tend to hit the jackpot with some of their deals so they might be on to something plus they'll definitely have funds for more if Griezmann made the decision.
People don't seem to realize it but Atletico throw A LOT of muck at the walls to see what sticks. They take a very scattergun approach to finding these gems and spend more money than people seem to realize on doing so. Just pop open transfermarkt and take a look at their transfer history. There's a lot of names and a lot of fees paid for players no one remembers.

That's why I've said: "They tend to hit the jackpot with some of their deals."

There's also couple of trophies and they almost scooped the biggest one recently while United at the moment are nowhere near CL final so perhaps in the end their policy is quite effective, especially when you take into account how much they may receive for Grizou.

Tielemans can definitely shoot and score those 25 yard screamers (which Scholes used to do for us back in the days). I would consider getting him in if he's okay being on the bench and being Pogba's backup. With that being said, I feel that Andreas Pereira deserves his shot here and if Tielemans would jeopardize his game time opportunities, I wouldn't consider getting him unless Tielemans can play Deep Lying Playmaker in the Xavi, Carrick and Pirlo mould.

His technique while shooting the ball is incredible. Best i've seen since scholsey.

He won't be, he said only the other day he'd rather play for a smaller club he is going to start for than a big club he won't.

Why hasn't this guy moved to a bigger team yet? Is there any chance him and Pogba could be a dream midfield duo in a few years?
IIRC, he was advised by his family and coaches not to move that early. I'd want us to go for him personally

didnt he have some attitude issues too? also how good is he defensively? Depay scored for fun in dutch league too, had like 8 goals form freekicks and only hit the row z for us, but a lot of potential in this kid for sure

No attitude issues. He's above average to strong defensively and was called upon to play right back a few years ago. Tielemans is classes above Depay.

He's up there with De Bruyne in terms of long ball passing, crossing, and free kicks, but Tielemans is a much better ball winner/defender than KDB, and he has better ball control in close quarters.
KDB is ruthless in leading counter attacks whereas Youri is more distributor oriented.

He does look a great prospect though if I were advising him I think I would suggest he goes somewhere he will get the games he needs to develop and who won't stand in his way if he is ready to move on in a couple of seasons... Southampton for example

You'd advise him to go to Southampton? Thank god you're not his agent

Guaranteed if he ever came here he'd magically lose his ability to hit these screamers. We seem to somehow suck the talent out of players off late

He needs games and he isn't going to get them if he joins a top club (yes I know I'm stretching the definition to include us)

He's going to go to a smaller club before transitioning to one of the big clubs. I'd imagine somewhere like Dortmund, Monaco etc.

If he came to United next season I think he could get 35-40 games comfortably, if we're gunning for all competitions.

It does seem that way. The question is, where would he play, CM alongside Herrera? Or would he need to fight Mkhitaryan for a position in attack? It would be nice if he came to help solve our problems in the centre, but he's doubled his overall goal tally this season, and probably wants to play forward of centre. In which case he'd be subjected to fierce competition.

I would play him some games with Herrera and Pogba, some instead of Herrera. I would play him as a playmaker.

United still have Pereira, whom I think is doing well currently, playing in a much stronger league. I am not downplaying Tielemans abilities and potentials but to just discard Pereira is wrong, whom I think has a pretty good technique as well.

Sensible approach by his family wrt. transfer rumours and big clubs, has to be said - much better than the 'advisers' who shop these players around Europe like commodities. Kid's not even 20 years old - so there's plenty of time for him to transfer to a giant club in the future, and at this moment in time - continual development (with the long term in mind) should take precedence. Too many young talents prematurely move to a level they're ill-equipped for, and before you know it - they're approaching their mid 20s, but not as developed as you'd like because they were in and out of the first team. Reckon a club that's a couple notches above the median standard of Anderlecht (or the Belgian First Division in general) would be perfect for him - like maybe Villarreal or Everton or Napoli or Mönchengladbach (if they lose Dahoud). 2-3 years at that level as an integral part of the XI, and come EURO 2020 - he'll be ready for another step up to one of the genuine European heavyweights. Not a hard and fast rule, but very few are able to thrive at big, big clubs at his current age with the burden of consistently good performances on their shoulders.

Best case scenario, he joins Dortmund if they're interested (part of the elite, but have a clear plan for young players in recent years, allow a bit of leeway while playing technically good football - and are currently developing Dembélé, Weigl, Pulisić and the likes - with Isak being the latest addition to the queue). Something resembling this in midfield would be really good:

----------------------------------------------
--
Guerreiro---------------------Tielemans--
-------
-----------Weigl----------------------

Iv heard good things about this kid for a few years now. He looks like he is improving all the time. Iv watched him a few times and iv got to say, he stands out...maybe that's the opposition but still looks very good for his age. Also he's captain for his club at 19. Im sure it won't be long until a top team gets hold of him.
