Youri Tielemans

I heard he has stagnated in terms of his development recently?

Is he better than Andreas/TFM?

Seems unlikely for me due to his age and the alternative options we have in his position of similar potential.
Yeah he's class, absolutely insane talent and if he's available we should do everything we can to bring him to us.

In Brussels pograłeś with some interesting players, who are already doing great career. From your vintage is even Youri Tielemans.

Youri called me up recently and said:

- Luke, you know who called me? Mourinho. He asked if she would be the opportunity to move to Manchester United.

Found the article, not sure how true what he said was but would be interesting since we have no cover for Carrick really (we have Blind tbf), can he play that role?

I think his hype is fairly justified given his talent and his age. I don't know many 16 year old that broke into a first team and remained there like he has done. I think his biggest problem was not moving to a more competitive league which works well for some and not well for others. The advise from his family and coaches now in hindsight seems a bad call as he needed the step up earlier than most thought. He still is a great talent imo but needs to test himself now!

This comment boggles the mind.

I watch him regularly in the Belgium competition as i'am from Belgium. His biggest problem right now isn't that the league is too easy for him and that he should be playing on a higher level, his biggest problem is that Anderlecht are relying too much on him despite his young age and that too much is expected from him and he can't deal with the pressure and struggles to play on a consistent level.

He is really the sort of player that can be bang average or even simply awfull for alot of games and than suddenly has a moment of magic in his feet with a great pass or a great goal. You always see these moment in the movies and videos and people talk about his amazing talent and skill to pull that off but you never see or here about how goddamn awfull he has been in the rest of the match or in the other games. If he had half as much potential as some people on here seem to think he would have already been poached away from Anderlecht. Belgium clubs can't keep on to ther talent, if you put £12m-£15m on the table than no belgium club can refuse that offer. He isn't some hard to get talent, he is just overhyped and doesn't warrant a transfer to a bigger club as he still has to prove himself alot more on the level Anderlecht plays at.

He is also a very frustrating player to watch as he seemingly has fantastic technique to make great passes and goal but then often also does the most simple things wrong and ends up brining his team into trouble. He certainly isn't intelligent and skillfull enough to play as a dominant midfielder that can control the tempo of a match.

He is talented and under the right manager and in the shadow of some more experienced players he can definatley grow into a decent player but he has alot of steps still to take. He is totally not like his Fifa or FM counterpart. Those games overhype his ability by quite alot and it seems to fuel the crazy idea of alot of people that he is actually one of the most exciting talents in the world whilst the sad truth is he isn't even the most exciting talent in the Belgian competition.

If he would come to United right now, I can only see him fail. He will disappoint many fans because of his lack of tactical discipline and because mentalty he isn't ready to deal with such pressure of playing in the EPL for 70k people week in week out with the highest expectations.

Interesting post! I always wondered if he were just overrated by the Football Manager/Fifa gang on here.

His issue is consistency (expected) and Anderlecht being a terrible side last season. Let him be for another year like I've said a page or two back. Anderlecht have started this season well under the new manager.

Good insight. I obviously don't follow the Belgian league but from what I've heard, he's very much a highlights player who is nowhere near ready for the big time.

It's easy for some on here to talk about how great he is but that's based on FM and YouTube I'm sure. I like insight from people who watch these players. Good read.

They seem to be all over the place atm. Getting absolutley schooled by Rostov in their own house and the next weekend they walk over Kortrijk with 5-1. The club has a new manager and bought an entire new squad, with alot of questionable quality players. It remains to be seen if Tielemans will fair any better in the surounding than previous year.

The coach seems to be better and he likes Tielemans so that seems good for him. But if Defour leaves which is looking likley, I think the problem of Anderlecht relying on him and putting too much pressure on him might even get worse than it already was last year.

Oh well, off to the Dahoud/Bazoer/Goretzka/Neves threads then.

..until someone that has actually seen them tell us they are shit that is.

Aye, that's true, I remember reading something like he was available for around £4-6m which would easily be paid by the bottom PL sides or even some of the Championship sides.

In fact Defour is off to Al Jazira he snubbed Burnley for them because he is getting more money in the middle east.

He is one of he best CM talents out there and will be a good replacement for carrick in the long term. Is he better than Andreas ?? Im not so sure because if Pereira got than many chances I believe he will first team CM in lower team . But I would say he is better than TFM though

I clicked. Nothing new really. They did add a £30m fee as being the acceptable threshold.

Everyone is worth £30m these days.

There are quotes from Some guy who was his former teammate going around. He claims youri got a call from mourinho asking him to join United.

Won't be a good move for him, should move to a lower club where he'll play a lot and still not be relied upon to run things for the team.

If he really wants to do anything big with his career then he does need to move on soon. Young players need to get that balance of playing every week + then moving onto the next level to improve.

Got to admit ive never seen him play in the flesh but ive heard good things about him in the past. Watched a couple of videos of him looks like hes got a good strike! Honestly not sure id be willing to pay 30m for another midfielder this summer without moving some players on id much rather sign a central defender but hey if we sign him he looks a good talent!

30 m??? Crazy. Decent young player. Extremely inconsistent. Got bags of talent, still needs to prove himself before going to a big club...

If Mourinho called him earlier in the summer then maybe he was seen as a potential fallback option should we fail to sign Pogba.

But then, how easy can it be consistent, at that age, with that little experience, in a team which is itself largely inconsistent?

It's a general rule of thumb that it's unreasonable to expect one player to remain consistent if the team can't.

He's got that Scholes-esque ability/potential, he has insane skill on the ball, finishing, long shots, free kicks, he has an amazing pass, short pass, long pass, cross pass, can split defences and he can actually dribble as well, turn easily. The thing is, he's extremely inconsistent with it and like Pogba when he was younger, he shows his talent in glimpses and can be really error prone the restbif the match, also he'd have to show it on a much higher level what could be difficult at this age. Hope we do sign him though, he's an amazing talent and I got him to 23 and 88 in my career mode now.

Just do a Chelsea. Buy him and loan him back for five years. Rooney will likely be ready to only be a squad player in midfield by then I reckon.

You're pretty much spot on and that cycle is already starting again. Anderlecht aren't looking great at the moment and failed to beat a side they're always expected to beat yesterday. Whose picture is at the top of the Sporza article saying how poor Anderlecht were? Yup, Tielemans. If Anderlecht have another poor season, he will be the face of that failure again. Everyone expects him to drag them to success single-handedly.

Apparently all Jose did after getting sacked by Chelsea was play Football Manager and drew up a shortlist based on that.
Well they did get Messi right!

I am still waiting on Sherman Cardenas to set the world alight though. Ronnie Revell doesn't actually seem to be a real player yet either, time will tell.

Would be relatively cheap? Would be the perfect Carrick replacement, i would buy him. Think he is worth a punt, needs to take the next step

Much too early, still a very risky prospect. Talented, but his bad season was at least as bad as his good season was good. At most we should be looking at a buy-and-loan-back deal.

He's more of an advanced mid compared to Carrick. Not sure if he could develop into a holding midfielder to replace him either as he's a bit small physically. But he obviously has talent so as part of a 3 with Pogba and a holding guy behind him it could work. Just he's not the answer to the more pressing issue.

I think he means a player who'd replace Carrick's passing and the holding role can go to TFM who is more combative and defensively astute. I think its too early for him though it never hurts to buy him on a long term contract and loan him back for the year.

That's what he looks like to me. Maybe he was one of the players Mourinho would have went for if he wasn't able to get Pogba.
Seems unlikely at that age. You wouldnt sign a player at that age to be the main man.

He's one of those players who's often suggested as one of the big names in the next generation of players. Sign him up and see how he develops.
