I always find that criticism a bit unfair. It's a bit like asking why, say, Zaragoza fail to beat Real very often; the reason is plainly obvious, and has little to do with managers.

Its not about often though. A whole bunch of weak teams have beaten United, City, Chelsea or Arsenal now and again. Moyes has been at Everton for a long time and struggled badly to do that

Moyes with the neville's on coaching staff. Moyes fits the bill he gets the best from his players he is a long term option and a young fergie. I'd be happy and hope he brings Fellaini with him.

...but not regularly. It's league position that's the key arbiter, not one-off results.

Mourinho is my personal preference for playing it safe. He's a brilliant manager, knows how to win in Europe, has the confidence/arrogance to succeed Fergie and not feel the pressure, and has the best CV out of the lot.

I'd happily take Klopp too, as he's perhaps more in line with that "United way" many have referred to while Sir Alex has been here. My second choice.

Moyes not winning a single away game against United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool is worrying tbf.

I'm not asking for regularly, I'm asking for a better record than Moyes

Fair enough. I'd be happy with Moyes, partly because I don't want Manchester United to turn into The José Mourinho Show.

"Forty-three visits to the big four have brought not a single victory, but Moyes’ team will visit the Emirates tonight knowing they will have to shred that unwanted statistic if they are to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification alive."

David Moyes...

Pep to Bayern
Jose to Chelsea
Pelergrini to Madrid
Moyes to United

:nervous::nervous:

Anyone think Ancellotti is a dark horse?

Managed in England, won the double...won European Cups with Milan. Is a confident manager with extensive experience in European football....and a winner.

He is still only 53 aswell.

I'd take him. He wouldn't have a trigger happy chairman or cliques to hold him back either.

Well my tip was Ottmar Hitzfeld...what an ITK I am. *cries*

Didnt they win at Liverpool a few years ago, in the season Liverpool were challanging us? I swear Cahill got a winner with a header or something?

Had no idea Ancelotti was just 53! He'd be my second choice behind Mourinho in that case

Last time Everton won at Anfield was in 1999.

Didn't know he was only 53, he's been around for ever. Sir Alex is a big admirer. Not a bad shout if he can be prised from PSG

He has been heavily linked with Real in the last few weeks, so it could be a no-go. Just a thought really.

Chose Mourinho. He's the only one with balls to handle the pressure imo.

ITV news speculating there will be an announcement at Everton today. Everton player say there was a strange atmosphere at training today.

Aye. He has an air of confidence about him....and class. He also has the experience which you cannot buy. Perhaps an option for the short to medium term.

Shane Duffy - 21YO - 1min
Magaye Gueye - 22YO - 50mins
Apostolos Vellios - 22YO - 61mins
Ján Mucha - 30YO - 180mins
Ross Barkley - 19YO - 209mins
Bryan Oviedo - 23YO - 239mins

The above are all the players 23 or younger to have mins for Everton. Not exactly giving youth a chance at Everton. Then again, after looking at Real, Mourinho hasn't either, although Varane has got over 1000mins.

In La Liga
Morata - 20 - 386
Nacho - 23 - 341
Casemiro - 21 - 95
José Rodríguez - 18 - 1 (as a reward for playing well in La Copa)

Moral of the story. It's hard to give playing time to youngsters unless they're exceptional or the team around them is exceptional, except when the results don't matter.

No manager fighting for results, not Moyes, not Mourinho, not even SAF can offer training places these days - that's why we send players out on loan.

The Times seem to be reporting that Moyes is a done deal and will be announced in the next 24 hours.

Was listening to a football program and one said he would love to see Roberto Martinez here. Is he really a good idea?

My worry would be Moyes has no experience winning trophies, and he isn't exactly going to attract big name players, RVP didn't sign thinking he would play under Moyes. That said, I think he is a very good manager, but at United's level hes a complete unknown. Sir Alex had at least won the league and a European trophy at Aberdeen and had World Cup experience.

Talksport have confirmed Moyes has been appointed. Still nothing official.
