Funny how Klopp is so popular compared to Moyes on here. Let's not forget that Klopp had no CL experience until relatively recently and that hasn't turned out too badly for his club, he also got relegated with his previous club and failed to win promotion back so he's hardly without his faults. I think it gets overlooked a lot but Moyes has done fantastically well to keep Everton in the PL and to get them to the point they are today is even more remarkable when you consider the moneyed clubs he's up against.

Being a newbie in the CL could have its advantages, I mean you can bet on Moyes doing a lot of homework on his opponents before every game in Europe and not taking it for granted that we'll win. The fact he'll probably have a slight inferiority complex in regards to the man he's replacing will mean he'll work as hard as anyone to make sure he succeeds and doesn't leave anything to chance.

His Everton side has also always given the big clubs in this country a game as well and I don't see why he couldn't get similar results with much better players. The one concern I have with Moyes is his ability to attract top players but that is not to do with his ability but more to do with his lack of trophies thus far which you can't really blame him for.

I really don't think when someone goes out of their way to mention the requirement of "European experience" they would be referring to the odd unsuccessful jaunt in the UEFA cup..

Agreed. But at the same time it doesn't rule Moyes out.

As I said it is more interesting that he makes it sound like the appointment hasn't been made yet. That kind of flies in the face of the rumours and betting markets (which shouldn't be paid the slightest amount of attention anyway).

It's going to be Moyes because he will be happy to be the boards bitch.

The likes of Mourinho, God forbid, would want to do things his own way and be successful.

Odds on Moyes shortening massively.

Moyes 1/3
Jose 11/4

Spiralling effect.

Moyes is rumoured and linked. People place bets. Odds shorten. Shortening of odds reported. People read that as confirmation it will be him. Place more bets. Odds further shorten. Repeat.

From the Telegraph live feed...

12.40 Increasingly it's looking as though David Moyes will take over. The other leading contender, Jose Mourinho, is not a candidate for the position, senior sources have confirmed to Press Association

Can I try being manager for a bit?

Oh, and Ince has ruled himself out. FFS, I tought everyone would want to manage us!??? :(:(

The other managers who are interested in United's job are breathing more freely after Ince ruled himself out. If he would have wanted the job, he would have got a lengthy contract immediately.

There would be no reason whatsoever to delay Moyes being announced as manager... Except for fear of the reaction

Gill said this just a few minutes ago; "We could certainly consider anyone off an Internet-forum, but they need to have some modding-experience. We dont demand full on mod-status, but something like a scout or Newbie-mod would be a criteria."

Doesnt look good, Sparks :(

What's your FM CV like?

I have won multiple league and European titles, I buy big names each summer and I never skip past the paper clippings in my inbox quickly.

Exactly, it won't be Moyes. He has no experience in a title run or a CL run. He doesn't promote youth through his squad and his transfer record is pretty poor. He's a huge risk and if you have to replace SAF, then you need someone who's a pretty safe bet.

There's only one safe bet on the market and he was days away from signing to Chelsea... Which explains why they've had to move the announcement forward.

Is it true that the youngest player to have minutes in the Everton squad this year is Seamus Coleman at the ripe young age of 24?

Nah it isn't true. Pretty sure Barkley played 2 important games recently.

He'd have to quit first wouldn't he, as his contract hasn't expired yet? And with so little time left he wouldn't want to quit.

But anyway, it's Mou not Moyes :)

Why would he need to quit when Sir Alex is retiring at the end of the season? We arent sacking him right now...

Moyes would just need to announce that hes joining in the summer

I know they have given a sub to Gueye who should be around 21.
