Your Hidden Gems or under the radar - Wanted Signings

It’s amazing how Rogers and Gykores were plucked from the championship and we were never no where to be seen for either of them.
That makes no sense. Lot of players get picked up from the championship. Hindsight is 20/20 of course. They weren’t at the level they are today and hence they weren’t quality enough for United.

Rogers was literally signed this year for Villa.
Gykores started scoring as soon as he went for Sporting.
We had Ten Hag. Both of them wouldn’t have done shit for us. Also scoring in Portugal under Amorim is easier than the premier league.

Rogers was a youngster at City. Villa got in their first with Rogers. Likewise Sporting with Gykores. Other teams weren’t in desperate need of quality like we were. Tottenham have also taken Archie Gray from Leeds who looks a talent. The point is we should be casting our net wide and not ruling out players from the Championship. I have more faith the current leadership will do that.

Tom Bischof - contract expires summer 2025.

Chuco Hernandez - formerly of Watford. 25 now and appears to have found his shooting boots in the MLS. Could be a good / cheap punt for a striker to have as a rotation / bench option.

Takefusha Kubo from Sociedad. Highly technical, both feet, can play as a 10 in Amorim's system as a wing back on the right. Could be a superstar but my only concern would be that he is also not very big, like the rest of our team which already lacks physicality.

Hamed Traore, Amad's brother. Has never been able to settle and stay in the Bournemouth team after signing for over £21 million in 2023 after initially coming on loan. Eventually they have loaned him out a bunch of times. He was on loan to Napoli last season and is currently on loan to Auxerre where he has 6 goals and 1 assist in 12 matches. He'd be a cheaper #10 and Auxerre have no buy clause. He's 24 now

A couple of recent examples from Marseille Vs Auxerre

Unfortunately this link is blocked so it needs to be viewed on youtube :

He found this pass to set his teammate in, who crossed for Auxerre's 2nd

Then if you keep watching the next clip Traore himself runs through and scores on his left foot for Auxerre's 3rd goal

Romain Esse from Milwall has been having a really good breakout season so far. Very interesting prospect to look on, reminds a bit Olise.

I like the look of Omari Hutchinson.
I wanted Robinson from Fulham in the summer, and he's becoming less and less of an under the radar sort now.
Mitoma might still be worth looking at and much less high profile than 2 summers back.
Eze also would probably go for less now than last summer, and still has loads of ability.

Joakim Maehle was excellent at Atalanta.
Frankowski for Lens is much more of a youtube scouting job than actually having seen him loads, but Ive read good things too

Looks like a really good player who wouldn’t cost a fortune, there is Jobe Bellingham as well who is getting better and better. Palace reportedly in for both, it’s shame we don’t have any money as they are type of deals that you can get done in January.

Hutchinson and Delap at Ipswich, Dibling at Southampton and Rigg at Sunderland are all good young players as well if we were looking to add a homegrown player or two without spending silly money (Delap’s price maybe shooting up though).

Lennon Miller at Motherwell could be one to target. He is supposedly the best talent that has come through the Scottish youth ranks in some time.

Admittedly have only watched YT clips since I heard about him, but Scottish pundits are raving about his calm mentality, nothing seems to phase him, he’s versatile, has a great pass and switch of play.

He’s been linked with Celtic and Liverpool mainly but his Dad has come out and said that game time is crucial for his next move, but they way Amorim is keen to rotate (and the number is yellows Ugarte picks up) I see no reason why he won’t get a good number of minutes here.

He’ll only have 1 year left on his deal come the summer and current rumoured fees are only about £3m for this January.

Sell Casemiro and take a punt on him maybe?

I was in Portugal over new years with my girlfriends family who live there and asked her dad who the best young talent in Portugal is and he said Rodrigo Mora.

Only 17 and starting regularly for Porto, looks like a young Modric. We should be all over it.

What a coincidence, I was just looking at his comps. Looks like a classy player. Played with Quenda at youth level I believe.

Yarek Gasiorowski

Theres plenty of hype about Mosquera who has been playing for Valencia for a few seasons and is the same age, but I prefer Gasiorowski and think hes a better CB. Left footed, 6'2, 20 year old CB, wins the ball a lot and clears the area

Think he'd be a good replacement for Maguire and could play middle or left of the back 3. He's also played some games at leftback. Speed isnt one of his strengths and he's defensive so dont really anticipate him being a LWB option. But as a straight defender in a back 3 position I think he'd be very good and at this point miles cheaper than Branthwaite

No where near the level to step up a division. Whittaker is miles ahead of him and there'd be big question marks on him stepping up (I think he'd be worth a gamble for someone like Leicester).

Think Palace are signing him.

Colleague of mine works primarily on Portuguese football and he's been really pushing Mannu (remove one n - autofilter keeps correcting it to Man Utd) from Vitoria. Hyping him as, at worst, a William Carvalho type midfielder. At best, Portugal's Poundland Rodri.

He's so under the radar that he doesn't even have a YouTube comp. Statistically he does look very interesting. Sky high defensive numbers while also being a really progressive passer. Also has one of the best aerial duel win % AND aerial duels contested of any midfielder in Europe. On the other hand, he's already 23 and still at Vitoria so who knows.

Would be nice to get a very physically imposing, aerially dominant midfielder for peanuts.

Rayan Cherki is still at Lyon and can probably be signed for less than 30m. He has the talent to play that inside 10 role on the left and goes past players for fun. We need some magic in the final third as I think our threat is just functional in style, not much genuine X-factor, aside from Amad this season.

I like him but im unsure if he can press; a bit like Zirkzee. Cosindering PSG are getting Kvartshakelia - i think we should go for Xavi Simons on the LAM and Cherki/Amad on the RAM depending on where amorim see's Amads position in the future.

Not exactly hidden gem, but i would love Rayan Cherki as a 10 beside Amad. Good dribbler, good at tight spaces, can use both left and right foot like Greenwood, good creating chances and scoring as well

I personally think Lee Kang-In has more energy and can press better than Cherki. But less goal threat maybe.

I think the argument for Kang-In also is seemingly much better attitude and application... that's always been the concern with Cherki.

If you are looking at a real culture shift then he maybe isn't quite the guy you'd want to bring in. I'd sense problems akin to those experienced with Rashford / Sancho.

Kang-In would be a brilliant signing I think if he's gettable, but he's having a good season at PSG and playing fairly regularly. Thought how Kvaratskhelia coming in shakes things up will be interesting, though he plays on the other side you've also got Barcola and Doue in the mix as well in wide positions.

Obviously not an under-the-radar player but as a related subject though - I'll be interested to see what happens with Xavi Simons when he returns to PSG. I think he's a real talent so I was a little surprised they let him go out on loan to Leipzig again. They (PSG) are almost exclusively playing 4-3-3 though at the moment so it'll be interesting to see if they see him as a fit anywhere being a more natural central attacking player. You'd imagine the most natural fit for him in that system would be off the left as well, but if they have Kvara and Barcola that would appear to be one too many and he might be the odd one out.

Not related to the spitting ex pool player. El Hadji Malik Diouf. Plays anywhere on the left side of the pitch, good crosser, fast, can carry the ball. Linked to the liverpool recently. Does look good from highlights on YouTube.

Not really under the radar but Mateus Fernandes looked very good again for Southampton. I thought he was their best player, even though Sulemana and Dibling were more obviously eyecatching.

Still very young yet he's already played as a 6, 8, 10 and even wing back on a few occassions. I feel like he'd be a perfect signing. Somebody who could slot into a few different positions in our system and bring athleticism and ball-carrying ability - two of our biggest needs.

His attitude was why Valencia cancelled his contract. He wouldnt sign a new deal and they were unhappy with how he was training so cut ties with him before his contract ended

Hes obviously older and proved himself a good player at Mallorca. He's talented

Hmm, I can't find any suggestion that his attitude was ever suggested to be the problem? There's a Reddit post from a Valencia fan I found around the time this happened who explained that he wanted to leave for more games but turned down a couple of moves because they weren't the right fit, and so Valencia decided to release him because they needed the non-EU spot for a new signing and he was out of contract in the summer anyway (and therefore they weren't missing out on tonnes of money).

Although as an aside from that particular situation - I did just remember that it was Kang-In that was involved in a dinner altercation with Son and left him with a dislocated finger or whatever it was, so that is something I guess...

They had a great front foot pressing unit - as soon as Dibling got injured we started getting joy and then Fernandes/Aribo went off and they just fell apart. I don't want to take anything away from Amad but we can't ignore how ineffective we were until they were forced to use their bench, no disrespect to Smallbone, Armstrong etc. but the drop off was huge.

Fernandes was really good, I like what I saw from Sulemana and Dibling as well. All are young and talented and we should scout extensively for the inevitable sale that happens when they go down.

Yes the Valencia story is not true. About the Son incident, yes that happened during a bad phase of the national team after getting knocked out from the Asian cup.
He later went to meet Son in London and sincerely apologized to him.

Sent off for a kick on Ramos

And a VAR callback for a foul on Arias

https://football-tribe.com/asia/2019/10/20/korean-rising-star-lee-kang-in-shown-a-red-card/

I think it was more the several sending offs and unhappiness that he wouldnt sign a new deal. So I'll take back the training comment, but it was still his attitude they werent happy with.

My comments from back when I used to watch Valencia often

Good in Fifa

As for how good he really is, he has the quality to be Valencia's next David Silva if he develops properly. But at 18 he's still feeling his way into the first team

Just got sent off due to a VAR replay. Was deserved, slid in from the side with studs showing that chewed through Arias's socks. Originally a yellow card but sent off on VAR review

So he's started to actually make some kind of impact this season. The video makes him look good because hes clearly talented

But Valencia are 15th and he isnt a guaranteed starter. 6 starts so around half the games and he has 3 assists 0 goals this season playing as a #10. So plenty to improve on

Finally doing well. In great form for Mallorca in the past 6 games. They're midtable in la liga, he's 22 years old and I see he's linked with West Ham. Mostly playing left of a 3 man midfield, or left midfield in a packed midfield 4. I should think he can do better than that due to his current form and should interest top 6/europa league level clubs, maybe higher.

Agreed, and with them going down surely there are deals to be made. We should pick up Sulemana (or Dibling) and Rambo whilst we're at it.

If we have a buy-back clause on Elanga we should be using it. Would be an ideal wing-back profile for us.

He's all fart and no shit. Last night for some reason he was up for it, but generally he's been pretty poor. A bit like St Maximimiman at Newcastle.

Dibling I could see being worth a punt

Can't see it with Elanga myself, think we need a higher calibre of player if we have any desire to get to the top again.
