Rodrigo Mora stood out for his sharpness and ingenuity on the ball tonight for Porto, didn't realise he was only 17 till I managed to catch the commentator mentioning it. Seemed to be operating in the same inside left attacking position that United use.
Last night, I would say the same about the Feyenoord right back, Givairo Read. Very noticeable for some very crisp one-twos early doors, then consistently took the opportunity to bomb forward on the overlap in the first half and Leao didn't have the appetite to go with him at all. Also displayed great recovery pace. Only 18 and was his Champion's League debut.
Joel Ordonez looked very good for Club Brugge in an early season Champion's League tie against (I think) Dortmund, then again against Watkins and Villa, and the commentator was singing his praises when I flicked to their game against Man City just prior to him... er... scoring an own goal. 20 years old, great reactive speed, athletic in general but looks a calm, considered defender.
Yann Bisseck made an immediate impression the first time I saw him, when coming on as a second half sub for Inter in a Champion's League tie last year, with his sharpness and comfort passing and carrying the ball, while being a giant. Playing as (mostly a right-sided) wide centre back in a back three at Inter and apparently earned his move there also playing in a three (mostly on the left). Seemed to be behind Pavard generally but thought he looked a good, interesting player. Earned lots of plaudits for a standout performance against Man City this season, not really sure of his current standing in Milan. 24 years old, great in possession and really, really tall.
I see Dibling being mentioned relatively frequently here in the transfer forum, but I think Kamaldeen Sulemana would be worth a look at from Southampton when they go down. He was fantastic against us, and absolutely destroyed Yoro. A truly dangerous dribbler, without the sense of brainlessness you get watching Adama Traore. Something worth having in the squad.
