Yohan Cabaye

He's still starting for France right?

I'd take him over everyone we have except Carrick - and I think he'd be a pretty good partner with Carrick too.

Yeah he'd be our second best midfielder for sure. He's vicious though, can be a dirty little player when he wants to.

Not saying much considering our midfield options. And he is a dirty player, no question about that.

So? It's still an improvement.

An improvement isn't hard, though? People's views seem to be massively skewed on what a good midfielder is, due to our lack of quality in that position in recent times. I would seriously hope that we would be aiming higher than Cabaye if we actually do a midfielder this summer. Don't forget that some on here were calling for Tiote last summer, shows how desperate some are, eh.

You also don't need a squad full of superstars to be a good team. Cabaye for £15m is a good price these days.

We have never been a squad full of 'superstars', we should however, be aiming higher than Cabaye. The thing is, he isn't actually that good and £15m (would possibly cost more) would not represent good value.

I'm surprised you think that, personally I'd say he is leagues beyond anyone at the club apart from Carrick, frankly I think it's a fairly close call between the two of them.

He's better than anything we currently have, bar Carrick. So we should be interested, simple really. He's Prem proven, has quality and is a bit of a nasty cnut. He'd be perfect next to Carrick.

He is better than what we currently have, I have already said that. But Carrick is far superior to Cabaye, lets be honest here.

As I said, if we were signing him as a squad player for around £5m, then why not? But that clearly won't be the case. I would rather have any of the other midfielders we have been linked with (Thiago, Marchisio and Fabregas) - not sure we will get any of those, but even at that, I would rather we steered clear of Cabaye.

What is it that Carrick does that Cabaye doesn't? Cabaye breaks up attacks, passes accurately and, unlike Carrick he actually scores goals.

Cabaye could not be a squad player here, he's too good and he wouldn't stand for it. He's a regular for France for godsake. He'd be a first choice pick if he came here.

I won't get into a debate about why Carrick is better than Cabaye, especially if you use goals as a plus point for Cabaye. He isn't exactly a consistent goal scoring midfielder. Anyone who watches football can tell you that Carrick (one of the most instrumental players in a United team that has one nearly all there is to win) is better than Cabaye.

We will leave it at this. I don't personally rate Cabaye, I think he is massively overrated by some on here (there are various explanations for this) and if we forked out £15m plus for him - I would be very disappointed. He is technically sound but offers little more.

Christ, I watch football all the time and I wouldn't tell you that. Carrick has had a good season, probably his best in a Utd shirt. But I wouldn't say he is head and shoulders above Cabaye. I think a good deal of football people would happily talk about those players in the same breath. I would have no problem with Utd spending £15m on him.

That's not really a fair question. A lot of players do what Carrick does, but he's just much better than them at doing it. That being said, I really like Cabaye and I think he would make an excellent partner for Carrick.

He's proven in the Premier League, and I think he has enough quality to work well against European opponents.

I like Cabaye but I've never seen him run a midfield in my life, unlike Carrick on the other hand who run the midfield against most of the opposition he's played against over the past two seasons

I watch Cabaye every week and he is definitely worth being in a top 4 side....he will both improve any side he's part of and also be improved himself by playing with better players and coaches.

Footballers are going for silly money these days and especially when Russian/Arab billionaires get involved so in their world Cabaye is worth whatever they will pay but in the real world £15m-£18m is his limit IMO.

This. He's involved in surprisingly little of their actual midfield play.

A good player, not the answer for our midfield as he's not the type of player we should be after, nor is he of the quality.

So you don't watch top 4 sides every week and don't know what you're talking about.

Cabaye is someone who is brilliant in bursts. If he improves his work ethic and got more involved he would add to any team.

 Your shower of shit was outside the top 4 for the vast majority of the season.

I've seen plenty of top 4 games this season and Cabaye wouldn't have looked out of place in any other them.

Bullshit - you go to St James' Park and have seen 4 games involving top 4 teams.

I've been to the Etihad half a dozen times this season to see a proper top 4 side and we have live games on TV up here that feature top 4 games every week too.

Anyway, I'm sure we had a party in here when you fecked off from here in a girlie strop. Why are you back?

I got fed up with wankers who seem to support x different teams and know feck all about football. I'm back to point out their ignorance.

Excelente post. You talk far too much sense.

Is that a threat from a Leeds 'supporter' who has a season ticket at Newcastle and watches a third of a season at City? Don't get too credible.

I support Leeds and am a football fan so does it matter where I watch my football? FFS I even dozed through a couple of your games this season.

I didn't see a threat...words of advice, yes.

Support is good for the soul - you should embrace it and not be an old tart whoring yourself to barcodes and blues. Mind you Dirty Leeds is a sad inheritance, I can see why would want to leave it behind.
