Madrid will cruise La Liga. They probably won't win the UCL again this year, but there's hardly been a huge dip in comparison to last season. I mean, they started off a bit shakey, but they've really hit form and they're blitzing teams with 4+ goals a game.

They really do. They're still very strong, of course - they're fecking Real Madrid - but they've lost that unstoppable quality that they had last season. Kroos is not passing any better than Alonso was last season, but he also offers less defensively which is limiting Modric a little. And no-one in their right mind could claim that James is playing as well as Di Maria did for them last season. Di Maria fitted in along with both Bale and Ronaldo, whereas James doesn't.

(I know the Mighty Liverpool lost to them twice this season Barney, but I'm afraid that hardly means much at the moment.)

I seriously wonder if you've watched enough of them. Modric is as good as ever, James has settled in well even if it's his first season there and maybe things will improve even further. They have been in great form so far.

How did this turn into a discussion about Real Madrid?!

Before Cabaye went to PSG, my mate who's a Newcastle fan said he thought Cabaye was exactly what United needed in the middle (not that he wanted to lose him of course). At the time I thought we needed to aim higher, and that although Cabaye would be a good squad player, we needed first team quality instead. I stand by this view. At 28 you would expect him to have peaked, and if this is as good as he's going to get, he's not good enough to be blunt.
