The amount of times he could have passed but just tried to get past 4 players on his own was shocking. He was terrible

Maybe it's just me, but every single time I have seen this lad play, he has been average to shite. I can't understand the hype. I hope we don't go near him.
When he's good he's incredible, just not the norm though.
What''s his long passing like? Didn't see any of that last night.
Never judge a player on a world cup.

I'm surprised some think he was very poor.

Exactly the same here.

But very poor is stretching it and being too harsh. Especially when Ribery and Govou got to play. I thought Diaby and Gourcuff are the only players who looked ok going foward. He really was. He's supposed to be a playmaker and not a playbreaker
This I agree with.He wasn't poor, he wasn't at his best either.
Ribery man. How did you miss him?Thats bullshit... Govou apart, he was the second most invisible attacker on the pitch.
Indeed. He was a rare source of ''entertainment'' during the 90 minutes. After a little while, it became comical.

This I agree with.
I don't understand what Govou was doing out there? How is he first choice for France again? I would ether draft Malouda or Ribery on the right and leave Govou on the bench.. Ah well I guess The Horoscopes are in Govou's favour..

Agree with this. Can kouroux, Nani Nana or french devil explain this? Is Govou really good enough for the starting 11?
Probably not a coincidence that you're both Irish, he was rubbish in those games.
Lots of players can't turn it on for the national team though.
According to some journalist, there was no real clash between Malouda and Domenech before the match. However the Chelsea player said to the coach he would not evolve in a defensive position (DM), as he did on a few occasions. He added: "Being in the service of Zidane, OK, but that of Gourcuff, no way !"
Hopefully this world cup will pour water on all those FM talents we get linked with by tabloids. Can't believe some of our fans would have us drop £30m on players like this and Suarez. £30m is what you pay for proven world class talent like Sneijder, Robben, Villa and the like.
Not kids who make a few nice touches in weaker leagues.
Seems like this lad Gourcuff is a real cnut.

It wouldn't surprise tbh. He's a media darling, he's good looking, he speaks good french for a footballer (the others sound like hillbillies), he smiles on the pitch and he's a positive player. It's really ironic that Domenech didn't choose to call up Nasri/Benzema mainly for dressing room stability whereas the current situation seems just as bad.Sounds like they're a bit jealous of Gourcuff, maybe because of the "next Zidane" tag the ridiculous media have saddled him with.
Malouda is a good player and always plays well for France but I agree with you. That's a fecked up mentality and even arrogance from him.No matter how good you are, you just can't say that.Sometimes it's better to let go of your ego and think for the team. What an absolute twat Malouda is. "being in the service of.." acting as if he's doing a job for a player. You play for the fecking team. What a twat.
A question for kouroux (or anyone else):
Tim Vickery made the point on Friday night that Gourcuff is often rather anonymous for a player that is supposed to be the playmaker — the player who is supposed to touch the ball at least as often, if not more, than any other on the pitch — but I can't recall whether that was solely in relation to the Uruguay game, or whether it was a general observation about him as a player. He also commented on his excellent delivery from dead balls, which, while obviously important, really isn't enough to win a place in many national sides.
It was also said (by Andy Brassell) that he may well have problems with his mentality, because Ancelotti commented that he had lost himself while he was at AC Milan (although, to be fair, that may have simply been immaturity).
Is any of this a problem for Gourcuff in general, or is it solely related to specific games, for example, or to a specific time in his career?
I haven't watched him anywhere near enough (perhaps a dozen or so times, and they were rather specific games in the Champions League and at International level), so I don't feel qualified to be able to form a general opinion of him as a player.
I think if we can into consideration the immense expectation and pressure Gourcuff has been under from the end of his club season football to the start of the WC, it's an easy situation. He obviously needs to work on psychological aspect of football and specifically his mental toughness.
Vickery is right with his comments as it's also been the general view regarding Gourcuff in the last 4 matches (3 friendlies+ game vs Uruguay). He doesn't stamp his autority on the game but tbh his teammates do not help him.A group of Anelka/Ribery/Evra went to see the coach last week and asked to see Diaby starting ahead of Gourcuff.
It's hard to play with players who don't appreciate you and on TV today when he was asked about it, he really looked uncomfortable
