Yevhen Konoplyanka

Konopy-ple. Let's not go there.

As I said, he's a good player. Sorta versatile, although every Dnipro fan will tell you that he is really effective only on the left. Tends to disappear in games sometimes. He is miles and miles away from Shevchenko. That's like comparing Ashley Young to Ronaldo.

Apparently, Dnipro wants his entire release clause to be paid up front, while Liverpool is negotiating for installments and bonus payments.

Then why hasn't it happened? They are flush and have ambition, they will sell if you pay up front which you are not in a position to do apparently. All typically odd. This last minute bullshit is insane.

If they do I hope he's more Poborsky than Kanchelskis. He's looked good the handful of times I've seen him.

Ian Ayre is negotiating the deal.

It'll go through. And if it doesn't, everyone should get their money on WBA beating us. The last minute stuff is insane, though I'd rather we pulled shite like this now rather than in the summer as we have done previously. The number of clubs that buy on deadline day is ridiculous, never understood why they don't do the business in the previous 30 days.

So many of the deals/negotiations seem to lack basic logic or common sense.

There is logic to it. Yesterday, the Ukrainian Football Federation imposed a ban on Dnipro's incoming transfers until certain sums of money that the club owes are paid in full. I have no clue which sums of money these are, but this would have surely made it more difficult for Dnipro to obtain a replacement for Konoplyanka. My guess is that this is why Kolomoyskiy (the owner) does not want to sell.

Plus, Liverpool continued to feck around with partial payments and bonuses instead of agreeing to pay the whole fee upfront, which is reportedly what Dnipro wanted.

Citytalk are playing "We're on a Road to No Where" to close their transfer show out.

Anyway, feck off negotiators. The transfer committee/Ayre seem to be absolutely useless at wrapping up any deals above £10m.

Completely agree. Never really thought this would be on to be honest, even when it looked 'close'. We have a recent track record of f*cking about which is fair enough, something for FSG to investigate in due course.

Its a bit ridiculous really, you guys should have first had Willian, then you dragged your feet with Salah and now this. Reminding me of United's failures last summer really.

Well, even Woody sorted his shite out over way or the other

Is it likely that Liverpool owners don't want to spend much?

Reminds me more of Dempsey than United. Willian I don't think we could have had, Mkhitaryan is a different story though.

Are we sure this is off? BBC still seem to be suggesting there's a chance.

EDIT - Scratch that, they just confirmed it's off!

Chortle. What was the supposed fee?

Not actually his fault according to Ben Smith.

We laugh at Asenal not stumping up the cash for Suarez in the summer, yet we've done the same on a smaller scale. It is Ayre's/commitee's fault that Rodgers is left with a man down.

I will admit I'm slightly nervous about where this leaves us with Rodgers. He is the most important person at the club, just ahead of Suarez. Dreading the next few days, not so much for losing Salah/Kono but losing him. :(

Weird situation.

1) Why would you wait until this late to make a move for the lad?

2) Why the feck has it taken this long to realise the deal isn't going happen?

Madness.

Wasn't Ayre in the Ukraine for the past few days, and a fee hadn't been agreed in that time?

Liverpool's Winter window has been a bit like our Summer window. Don't think you'll lose Rodgers, but he surely won't be happy about missing out on so many wingers to strengthen your squad/first team when it's your best chance in years to finish in the top four.

He was and the utter piss take must have been the medical being done today without the deal going through.
