Yevhen Konoplyanka

I thought Liverpool already tried for him but failed, perhaps I'm wrong. It would be nice for a change, if he stayed in his home country. Great player, have liked him since Euro 2012.

If he's really a top player, why would he want to spend his career in his home country? He needs to play in a better league.

Rumours on the tweet that Liverpool have made an offer. Would be an excellent signing if they can pull it off.

I must say that I think Rodgers has alrgely targeted the right players since taking charge, which has accelerated his rebuild.

Aspas, Moses, Cissokho, Borini and Allen?

Brendan signings apart from two obvious excellent ones has largely been pretty average. His coaching has obviously been pretty good.

I think the ones he has spent anything like decent money on have been good. He has picked up a few cheaper punts, Cissokho and Moses were loan cover. Borini and Allen have yet to deliver admittedly. Aspas is shite.

Two loans in there though. And Allen is a good signing.

So is Sakho and Toure. And Mignolet, recent howlers notwithstanding.

I think he's been a bit hit and miss, but overall he's strengthened the team well.

He also brought in Coutinho and Sturridge, who have helped transform the way the team plays in a short period of time.

Don't really rate Toure and Mignolet. Mignolet already made quite a few howlers and that too in big games which has been a negative point for him.

I find Sakho hard to judge, I personally don't think he's all that but his performances has been ok.

Toure has been excellent for what he was signed as: A 4th choice centreback on a free transfer.

Mignolet has been a bit wobbly lately, but he saved us some good points earlier in the season where he was tremendous. Better than the Reina who left.

Would still have preferred our original top target Begovic, but we got priced out of that.

Sakho's been far and away our best defender. Basically seems to just take it from the opposition when it's within 10 yards. Shame he keeps picking up these niggling injuries. I love it when players are foolish enough to go into a 50/50 against him. They all end up on their arses.

We've still yet to see Agger and Sakho together and they are imo our best defenders, even of Skrtel has picked up lately.

I'll take your word then.

Sakho can be a really good signing. Mignolet is a quality goalie - Erik Thorstvedt had him down as PL's best goalie last season. Toure is still quite decent - surprisingly fast, which is needed when playing Skrtel.

Allen for me is a bit too average to be considered a good signing.

If Liverpool persist with Allen then he will really come into his own the less Gerrard plays IMO, also in my brothers opinion, they do seem to both look for the ball in the same areas and Allen naturally defers to his captain. I reckon him and Cleverley are good midfielders and will get better the older they get and the more responsibility they take on.

It's impossible to judge Rodgers' signings. With the transfer committee we don't know who Rodgers asked for and who he had less of a say over. Rumours are that Aspas, Cissokho and Assaidi weren't chosen by him. In fairness to the committee though, the big money signings we have chased all look great (Mkhitaryan, Willian, Costa).

Times article. This looks like it could happen. Not seen any of him, caf scouts, is he worth it?

So their 2nd choice is actually more expensive than their 1st choice.

He's like a Messi light, or Hleb extreme.

Very good player.

I think 15m is about right. Normally plays on left wing despite of being right-footed. Loves dribbling past defenders with skill & pace, then cutting in to release a fierce shot on goal.

Already a brilliant individual player, "the Ukrainian Messi" as they call him, but he needs to improve his team-play. His decision making can be frustrating at times.

Cheers. How's his work rate? I've read that is quite good.

£15M would be a steal for this guy IMO.

Could have the potential to be a big player for Lpool.

That doesn't mean much. I reckon he watched him 5-6 times in the league last season. Having played for Tottenham I'd imagine he preferred watching them when he could and not a boring, struggling, relegation candidate.

I'm basing that on many years working with pundits. But he's Norwegian. Maybe they do have extended coverage of Sunderland and their games in the post-match shows. I highly doubt it.

He might be right of course but I'm just doubtful because many pundits often only remember the really good things and the really bad things and neglect the rest.

Really liked the look of him at the Euros but haven't seen him since. He seemed to fit Liverpool's style as a free roaming left sided player. They're missing that one badly, chucking Coutinho there in a 4-4-2 to accommodate Suarez ans Sturridge.

He does know what he's talking about when it comes to goalies though, and he tends to be very critical towards most. I think DDG was brilliant last season, and I think he did too, but as I said, he did put down Mignolet. I can only assume that he watched him enough to give a fair assessment.

Konoplyanka is quite good, but, IMO, not world-class good. I wouldn't want Manchester United to sign him, so I'm okay with Liverpool signing him.

For what it's worth, according to a fairly reliable Dnipro fan site, the deal taking Konoplyanka to Liverpool is nearly finalized. Dnipro's owner needs to make the final decision on whether to let him go, however.

Seems Chelsea have opted not to loan out Salah in order to make a move here.

Instead, it is spurs who have apparently now made a 15m offer.

I don't doubt that he does and he might be right about Mignolet but I just highly doubt that he watched him that much. The thing is, he's a pundit. Pundit rarely go "I don't know" or "I haven't seen enough of him to comment" because it would shatter the illusion.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it or de-rail the thread. I was only pointing out my two cents into the world of punditry from my perspective. You know this guy better than I do and know if he's more of a Neville or more of a Shearer. My only point is that pundits are not shy at all about making claims based on few games (much like most people on here).

I don't get how with Salah it was said Chelsea's offer was too high for you yet now you're bidding more on someone else.

His okay i prefer the dynamo Kiev one. Can't spell his name.
Yarmolenko. Or I believe it's actually spelled Iarmolenko. Very good, but I think Konoplyanka could be better. Both are similar level though.

Looks like it's "do not pass Go" for the Konoply transfer.

*shoots self*
