Yaya Touré: "I want to destroy the Pep myth" (France Football interview)

So we should just mock him and take the piss out of him then?

It just doesn't sit well with me that to be honest.
Yes, because the blokes a dickhead who has history for this kind of thing. If Yaya comes out with any credible evidence, or if we see other players back up this claim, then fair enough. But until that point it seems perfectly reasonable to treat Yaya as the child he is.

Your willingness to accept this based on what’s in that article and what we know about him as a person, says more about you than everyone else here you are trying to vilify.

"I want to destroy the Pep myth" - Goes onto accuse Pep of racism - is pretty big warning flag for me.

Hopefully if there is evidence it is thoroughly investigated as there is no place for it in society. However, giving interviews to media, openly speaking about wanting to destroy the Pep myth, has a more sour grapes and vindictive air to it.

Pretty much. If Fernandinho or Sterling came out with this the vast majority would back them because they aren't plonkers like Yaya Toure.

What he said when Aubameyang got awarded best African player proves without a shadow of a doubt that he doesn't care one single bit about africans. He only cares about himself.

I doubt this has any credibility, I think Pep is more against players with big personalities and much more about the non questioning, devoted quiet types. Kind of like Ibra described at Barca with the schoolkids.

Here I was hoping Yaya was coming clean on Pep's systematic doping efforts, hidden inside birthday cakes (which is why his was delayed until after his test)

That and if he moved any slower on the pitch he’d be given a mobility badge. Not exactly the type of player that suits the high energy, pressing football Pep exclusively plays.

Whenever a thread gets made concerning racism on the caf, it really shows the ignorance level of some members. I'm not saying whether or not Toure's claims are credible but some posters can't even wait until the full article is published before mocking the man and dismissing his claims. So patronising. And then people will wonder why racism is still so prevalent. Looking at the reactions in this thread, you can see why some wouldn't bother speaking out.

I can't take him seriously since he complained about Aubameyang winning the CAF player of the year award, when Toure himself was fortunate enough to have won the previous four awards.

And his stupid comments about "Africans favouring more abroad than at home". He claimed to be proud of his heritage but what he says shows he's out of touch with his own people. Embarassing person, as well as his agent.

You can be racist and still have black people working for you, though. That's been true since the dawn of modern civilisation.

Apparently in modern civilisation you can also shout that someone is racist without any proof, but rather inconsistent nonsense, and expect people to listen to you.

Interesting how many people have come to a conclusion on this before we've even seen the extent of what he has to say.

On both 'sides'.

I've accepted his opinion on what he's seen because he's worked with a man for a fair few years.

I've not said Guardiola is a racist or anything like that. I've accepted Toure's opinion and would urge him to into further detail if that is how he feels. In my opnion it will be rife in the game.

I've not actually come to any conclusions, because it is impossible to.

The people who have come to conclusions are those who are mocking Toure and dismissing him.

In my experience in life, that is very foolish and damaging thing to do when something like this is said.

Toure is an over-dramatic prima donna, but that doesn’t necessarily make him wrong. It’s a big accusation to make, so I hope he hasn’t done it just because he feels personally slighted by Pep. We’ll see if he has anything to back it up.

I’ll just say I’m very happy that one of our players, and I’d certainly say Yaya was a defining figure in the recent oil state funded success of City, didn’t go out like this. I’d imagine the Berties will turn on him now, but he’s leaving a stain on the club with this. I’d be gutted if it was Yorke, Cole, Evra, etc. leveling these sort of charges on their way out.

Hard to take Toure seriously. Pep made him look like a mug earlier in the season when he forced his agent to apologise to him and Yaya came crawling back to try and get into the first team.

He was a prima donna mercenary since the day they bought him from Barca with their financially doped $$$. City deserve this. This is what a City ''legend" looks like lads, alongside the likes of two footed stomper Aguero, golfing holdayer Tevez, can't put a bib on correctly Balotelli, golf club Bellamy, sex pest Adam Johnson and convicted thug Barton. Oh, and let's not forget Mike Summerbee and Noel Gallagher. What a fine group of gentlemen.

I'm very uncomfortable with posters already rubbishing this.
Personally I don't think its true but let's wait and see what he has to say.

What has he seen then what other players haven’t seen then? Because he’s not told us it yet. Do you accept his view that Africans are shameful and don’t care about Africa, based on him being African?

You haven’t, but he has. And so far the evidence we’ve seen to substantiate this claim totals to Pep telling Yaya he didn’t believe he was motivated. I don’t think you’ll find many people who disagree with that claim.

No, what’s damaging is accepting it regardless of what is said. This is a bloke that is a serial whinger, who has a history of accusing anyone of anything if they do not share his warped belief in his ability, or shower him with praise.

It could well be the case of the boy who cried wolf. But until he actually provides genuine evidence or his claims are qualified by others, I dont see why he shouldn’t be treated as the self centred character he’s portrayed over the last decade.

Besides Fortune, which other African players did Fergie sign btw? Fergie is a racist :eek:

In the article, he never mentions racism yet but thinks that he should have been treated better. Everybody knows about the birthday cake episode, but wanting a decent farewell season after what he had done for the club and them absolutely cantering to the title does seem a fair ask and Guardiola comes across like a prick.

I have no way to know the other side of the story, so I hope Toure gets good closure. He was one of the main forces behind City's progress.

Isn't that the point of forums? To act like a know it all and then backtrack when you're proven wrong?

A cheeky one year contract ?
Will definitely wind up those sorry blue moaners :p

I have no idea what you’re on about. I never said anything about it being true or false, only that I’m glad we’ve never had to deal with something like this. And, I’m sure City find it mortifying. No more, no less.

The problem here is it's coming from Toure, lets see what Sterling, Mendy, Fernandinho and other players of colour in the Manchester City squad have to say. Im leaning towards Pep not having a problem with people of colour but having a problem with a person of colour from Bouake who plays for Manchester City called Yaya Toure.

He said African players. Not that Im saying he is right btw

No no I wasn't going at you for saying its true or false. You mentioned Yorke, Cole etc saying something about this so I wondered how many African players (playing for African countries as well) Fergie signed and only thought of Fortune (though yes there is Manucho as well).

And Yorke, Evra etc don't count because according to Yaya they have to be African born and playing for an African country to count

I think that was initially my thought as well but then Toure is quoted as saying this "It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour."

Where was this last summer when he could have left? he stayed for a whole other year.

Also, Pep loved the shit out of Keita.

I do not know why but I have the impression that he was jealous of me, that he took me for a rival.

:lol::lol::lol:

He seems obsessed to me.

Calling bullshit on this one unfortunately. If this was someone other than Yaya then perhaps I'd feel there was more credibility in the statement.
