Yaya Touré: "I want to destroy the Pep myth" (France Football interview)

I dont like money bags Pep and everyone ******* themselves over how great he is, but this sounds like crap given Fernandinho and Sterling just had great seasons under Cashiola and didnt Pep bring in Mendy? Seems more likely Pep didnt think that at 35 Toure could crack a spot in a City team that blitzed the league.

"The day in which he includes 5 non-naturalised Africans in a starting XI,"

I don't think anyone disputes that Guardiola can be ruthless and and perhaps antisocial towards players he wants to get rid of, but to jump from that to racism I need a bit more than "he was mean to me".
And it has to be some very specific form of racism, since Guardiola's City isn't exactly monochromatic.

He did say African and not black tbf

This kind of stuff makes me think Toure is just exaggerating. He has a reputation for being bit over the top as well. I don't think it's African players Pep doesn't like it's probably he can't be arsed with Toure (and he wasn't good enough to make special accomodation for.)

I don't see it personally, but Touré's the one with the first hand experience. There's no point denying his record for self-pitying rubbish, but it's only right to give him a fair hearing when he's making such a serious allegation.

We'll have to see what he actually says but given complaints other players like Zlatan have had about Pep in the past, Yaya's claims will have to be pretty extreme to point to anything other than Pep simply not rating him.

The feck is wrong with this guy? One day He brags about how He (and of course, Pep included) managed to put United in City's shadow and on the other? He accuses his own manager of being racist.

This guy needs help, quick, send him birthday cakes.

I would go to court if I was Toure, after all you don't do this without some hard evidence...

That's a pretty serious accusation to make.

Loved this bit:

Pep, he wants to be considered a genius. He loves it. But there is a lot of comedy behind all this, it’s a bit of anything. He creates a character. When I see him scratching his head in full match to show that he thinks thoroughly, it makes me laugh. It’s comedy.

That's actually quite funny. He also drinks from his water bottle whenever his team concedes to make it look he is in control. My favourite part of Baldy is his touchline reactions to his players messing up.

I have a feeling Yaya isn't going to come out of this well.

Come to think of it, which African player has been a key member of a Pep team? Doesn't mean he's racist. Fergie didn't like the AFCON timing.

He better have some, because otherwise, Pep should take him to the court.

Yaya Toure weeks after championing Pep as the manager to put United in City's shadow, destroys Pep's career after a long and hard fought court battle that sees the former Man City manager sacked for bringing the game into disrepute.

Yaya Toure not allowed to speak out about racism because the footballing world will say "Guardiola is not that type"

Toure is allowed his opinion.

Bombed Eto'o out after a year.

But lets mock Toure before he's had a chance to speak.

I don't know why anyone would think Yaya is exaggerating. It's not like he has a history of throwing tantrums over petty things. Let him have his cake and eat it, I say.

Maybe, but he signed Mendy, Coleman and Keita. And Yaya is known for being overly sensitive.

That said, means nothing who he's signed or how sensitive Yaya is. Be an interesting read.
His first point is about African players, not necessarily all black players.

It's one of those things. I wouldn't dismiss it because it might discourage others from speaking, but then again you also don't want to paint the guy as a racist without substantial evidence.

Eventually it will come out though. I'm sure if he is a racist, enough people will speak out about it.

Does someone have that tweet where they put the word "LEGEND" instead of his name on team sheet

He also gets the ‘shameful’ decision to award Aubamayang African player of the Year overturned, and is compensated in cake.

Yaya Toure would be best served by keeping his and his agent mouth shut.
Toure is a wonderfull little piece of a drama queen with the intellect of a 5 year old.

For Christ sake, the man threatened to quit our noisy neighbours when the did not celebrate his birthday «properly».

Do not take anything serious coming from that mouth.

Lets be honest, if this was somebody accusing Sam Allardyce or one of the "brexit" managers, there would be a Panorama investigation.

A Spaniard not liking an African is such a far flung theory according to those on here.

If this has any basis I would love that scenario, but it seems more like Yaya trying (again) to put something out of nothing. This will be very hard to prove, almost impossible imo.

I'm not one to defend baldy but how many African players would get into his Barca, Bayern or current City squad? Maybe prime Drogba, current Salah or prime Yaya. That's nothing to do with racism. The African continent hasn't produced many world class talents in my life time. Same with America and Asia. Is it also racist to not include those too?

Toure has a terrible attitude and has shown it many times. Ignoring him would be best.

There was a guy called Samuel Eto'o once but doubt he'd have been good enough for Pep's Barcelona...

Toure, Toure, it's not racist that he didn't want to play you because you fecking suck.

Well it's not racism, Africa isnt a race, Africa has large and diverse diasporas of ethnicities. I guess you could make a claim he is nationist, although Zlatan doesnt fit into that narrative.

The problem with Yaya's quotes is that he's not the first player to talk about how bad Pep treats a player he doesn't want. Other players talked about that previously. It can't be taken individually.

The point is Pep being racist or not, it's that he's not a saint or the best individual ever as some fans and media like to make him look like.
