It's odd they didn't at least make the stand removeable. For such a simple design not to work on its side is silly.

Unlucky @esmufc07 you 8th gen peasant.
Picked up this controller as well. It's a lovely blue!

It'll have to do! No where else to put it.

It won't fit any other way. Wish I could have it standing.
Fair enough. If you are having it on it's side long-term supposedly removing the stand is possible quite quickly after opening it up.

Installed Yakuza. Got Valhalla and DMC 5 on install. Got 1.6 tb left.

It doesn't look like I'll be getting my X today. Amazon haven't even dispatched it yet.

Also, I ordered a play-and-charge kit from Argos but they've sent me the wrong item  Not going as planned.

Next gen packaging

Anyone ordered codes from Amazon before? Tempted to order Valhalla but have lost all trust. Do they send them straight away?

Enjoy mate.

Random one, but were you handing out Love United Hate Glazers stickers during the Chelsea CL final in the pub at Piccadilly station? Swear the fella looked exactly like you

I get my Xbox top ups from there when I want to buy stuff, mine come through in minutes...

Playing Ori 2 and I'm sure it's not a surprise to anyone that I could not tell the difference between 120 fps and 60fps. In this game, I also can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4k. Holy shit, it loads fast, though

Gonna jump on Ori first, it network transferred in less than a minute from my One S at 500mbps.

Looks like you've photoshopped a box in place of a window!

And yet you ignored my calls for us to play together and you show me how much better at games you are :smirk:

To be fair in something like Ori it's a lot harder to tell fps difference, even more so if you aren't outputting at 120hz. The improvements you don't see are even more important though.

Though on the 1080/4k front I would get your eyes tested just in case!

I'm 100% down to game dude! I'll have a quick check back, I've not been on here properly for a week.

Although, in the meantime, I did recently invite you to play some games on the caf discord. And you never did play Mario Kart 8 with me :(

I'm guna wait till the price drops and there's actually some games that are unique to the new gen. Right now, despite all being sold out, they seem a bit of a money grab rip off to me.

Resolution and frame rate really are minor gains from PS4 and Xbone. Even on last gen games, these consoles can just about push out 4K 60. Miles morales on PS5 has native 4K 30 with raytracing or dynamic 4K 60 without. I am surprised you can’t tell the difference at all though.

as you rightly say, this gen is about convenience and quality of life - quick loading, quiet, hopefully less to go wrong with SSD, solid cooling, mature services that work, 4K discs etc

In some ways I agree but historically you won’t see much of a price decrease in its whole life cycle and possibly none within the first two years. We’re talking at most, £100 by the time we’re gearing up to a new generation.

From a “no games” point of view, I get it, but not cost

@Alock1 I've literally only just seen this one...

Haha I'd beat @Redlambs and @esmufc07 but otherwise really average

I'm sure Lambo was good 20 years or so ago

 Close to the truth!

Though I'll take you on at any PC shooter, no problem and definitely on Mario Kart. I'm rusty on console controller, but I'm always down to play and see if my Whiskey and stress pickled reactions still hold up ;)

I usually get £250 in vouchers as part of my Xmas bonus with work. I work in retail (head office). I know what they'll be going towards in the new year then. :)

I don't do PC shooters and can't play mouse n keyboard but I am up for most multiplayer games on Xbox, PS5 or Switch

A mariokart tourney would be good though I definitely need practise. I've barely touched the Switch version as I hammered the Wii U game (this is my experience with Switch generally to be honest).

I played with a few people here before. Snowjoe and @Havak I think, and Havak seemed particularly good

Warning for anybody yet to setup who is moving from the One S/X. Don't bother network transferring games that have optimized for Series S/X updates. I transferred Gears and Forza Horizon 4 and then get told that both have 75gb updates (I'd kinda figured maybe like 30gb so this would still be quicker, but it's not)

I would mock that, but I'm going to take the high ground (and mostly as it's been a fair while since I've played a shooter on controller, not since the Halo 3 days properly)

We'll have to arrange something. Even some Sea of Thieves would be fun, I really need to get back into it.

Same. I played the Switch version a bit recently and forgot just how much faster it was. All the "I can't tell the difference!!!!" 30/60fps crown certainly would be able to in that one!

Would like to hear from anyone who has got their hands on the Series S. Is it quiet during use, how are you getting on with it in general, and if you have any pictures of the little console in situ then please do share.

Wii U was 60fps right for MK8 just not in splitscreen I think? Obviously there's the 200 mode too where Wii U was limited to 150 (or maybe they DLC'd 200 in, can't remember)
