Damn. Swing and a miss on that one.

I think they had the chance to buy them and chose not to. There were lots of rumours and reports of bad practices and a toxic culture at the studio.

Flight Sim passes 12m players. Niche.

So why are they buying activision then?

Not exactly great news for PC gamers with Nvidia hardware, considering the recent trend of AMD sponsored titles that suspiciously lack DLSS support (or XeSS for that matter).

Laughs in all AMD hardware (we don't get to often!)

AMD card owners gain nothing with the absence of DLSS or XeSS though. Modern PC games should support all available upscaling technologies.

Very few gain anything in this ridiculous world of gaming full of exclusives and needless division when we should all be playing the same games at the same goddamn time.

Feck no. I don't want to be forced to play a linear RPG

Says the man who loves AI: Somnium Files. When's the sequel going to be on Game Pass by the way? It feels like it should be on it soon.

Pretty bad that they didn't notice it though. Anywho

It is. I'd hear about it, if I presented a PowerPoint Presentation with a mistake like that in it.
Didn't mean it to sound so harsh, but once it's out there you have to own it. My point was, if the worst out there had been a line out of place on a slideshow Xbox users would be in a good place.

As for the in-game adds. If they do something like Netflix where you can get a cheaper subscription with adds, I'd be okay with that, as long as Ultimate is add free. If they come to Ultimate as well... All I can do is suck it up. After a fallow patch, there are some games coming to Game Pass over the next 6 months that I really want to play, so adds wont make we quit.

You had to prove that there was something other than a line out of place though.

My prediction is that in-game advertising will only feature on non-console devices, like the smartphone/tv apps. You can see they want to enter that territory with cloud steaming and it makes a lot of sense to drive revenue through ads.

There was a questionnaire out, about 12 months ago, that asked, would you accept adverts, if they were in a cheaper subscription. I Think Jez Corden, from Windows Central was on about it.

Edit: Got this quote from Eurogamer.

"We've talked about how we're experimenting with other models, like what does it mean for advertising in games which is more prevalent in mobile – are there models of that that work well in PC and console? Are there other models where you might have timed slices of games and stuff like that?

Free-to-play games, maybe. If they start thinking Game Pass is value added so it's OK to have ads in games they're way off in their view. The thing about making it a cheaper subscription is it will work its way up either in price or tier eventually. The same will happen with Netflix over the next couple of years.

A mod has been announced by PureDark to add DLSS3 support in the Early Access period.

If they do your only other option is to pay £70 a game which is a pure rip off.

Well either that or move to PC where a game is normally about £20 cheaper.

Interesting. I guess it makes business sense to figure out how to maximise revenue while pissing off the least amount of gamers.

Still, I can't see many historically hardcore types in the UK/US being pleased with ads but it's a different story in emerging markets like Brazil where games generally cost a lot more.

It does.
Anyone on here seriously defending a little plastic box needs to realise that the little plastic boxes are made to make money for big corporate companies.

I'm on PC for GP anyway, I don't own an Xbox. Game Pass was very good initially but it has to give value by and it hasn't been great recently for me. On PC there are alternatives and I dropped Humble Bundle for it a while ago due to it being worse value but the last 2 months have been better on Humble Bundle and you get those games forever. In the PC market there is competition like you've insinuated.

I'd be happy to use it as something for a couple of months a year when the major first party games are released, but I'm sure that's not what MS want.

£70 is a lot agreed and I'd only pay that for 3 or 4 games a generation.
