It can't be all those things to every dev for every game. The model won't work all the time.

But why can't it be those 3 things? Plenty of things are win win win.

I don't think it's ridiculously cheap without the tricks to be fair. Its good value. And no doubt MS will put the price up knce more of their first party day 1 titles are hitting.

How people can't see through what you are is hilarious!

But I respect the hustle. Always have.

It does not look like they are bothered about it at this time. Microsoft's main aim appears to be getting people hooked on the subscription/cloud model, and they are willing take the hit now for long term gain. Eventually, they will close off these avenues entirely but not until they have reached their targeted growth or, if not, until they realise that the market will not become as big as they believed.

I think it will be a while before they start really pushing back against this as their end game is to replace the console market. Might be some hits/losses now, but, if they manage to succeed, they will be in a position where no company could compete with them in the gaming market.
I think MS know what they're doing here, Office was their big cash cow for years and now it's basically subscription/cloud based and as far as I can tell they still make tons of money

Yes they do. Yes they always have. Yes they also tried to sell the XBOX division to EA and other bidders.

Of course it makes sense that EA pulled out and now they are in bed together...of course they want to buy out Activision.

I'm well aware that nothing I've ever said or will say can change all this shite, from the first DLC crap to now with selling games in bits, but just be aware that in the future most are going to question how it is and how we got here.

Just an observation on my part, I'm not a gamer and never will be so it doesn't really affect me

So you never play video games?
Not on a Console, I do play the odd game on my PC, nothing that involves quickly moving fingers or brain cells though!

I'm old enough to remember the excitement of Pong and Space Invaders!

Explain that.

They went on record recently saying gamepass specifically was profitable. What more do you want?

Since it only has really old third party games and nothing any good/new (right?) then I'm not sure why it'd be a surprise.

Luckily whilst Microsoft try to kill gaming with no games and terrible consumer practises Sony and Nintendo are here to represent the average gamer and take care of everyone

Very much a "no shit sherlock" situation. After they scrapped the Redfall PlayStation version they were always going to do the same with Indiana Jones

I read that earlier and still don't get how it's news. "First-party studio that only releases new games on Xbox and PC will only release an upcoming game on Xbox and PC."

MS amended the agreement after they took over and removed the other consoles.

They'll probably be made to honour the original agreement of Indiana Jones on all consoles.

Made by who?

I expected it to be multiplat because the contract was signed before Zenimax was taken over.
They went back and renegotiated the deal to make it console exclusive.

I was partly joking. But if they want to show to the courts who are concerned about their acquisition of ABK, they may need to make some concessions elsewhere.
Fair enough if joking.
I don't think they will allow Zenimax games be part of the bargaining process.

Not sure why you would've expected that, as both Redfall and Starfield were in development before the acquisition and are Xbox and PC only. No platforms were ever officially announced for this Indy game.

It's understandable people wondered if it'd be multiplat since it's a license game.

Because they had to get Disney to agree to a reduced market.

We don't really have any insights into what exactly is written in those contracts and it's safe to assume any issues are easily solved by MS's money.
We only know what Pete Heinze said at the FTC case. Yeah they pretty much money-hatted it.

Edit: I'm not a big fan of money-hatting pre-existing massive IP.

This is exactly why their activision purchase, and other attempted buyouts in this manner, need to be stopped.

I remain skeptical they will fully though.

So Sony can do 2nd party exclusivity deals instead?

"and other attempted buyouts in this manner"

You know I have no love for what Sony does here, arguably they are worse in many ways. Don't play dumb.

I wouldn't really consider 2nd party exclusivity deals buyouts and problem is there is no remedy to stop that happening.

All the games that Xbox has made exclusive, PlayStation where trying to buy exclusivity for, and add a clause that they could not be brought to Game Pass.
Todd Howard went to Phil Spencer and warned him what was about to happen. That was when Xbox moved to buy ZeniMax.
PlayStation had already agreed timed exclusivity on the first 2 ZeniMax games this generation.

It's much of a muchness though. The only difference here is buying a whole publisher, one of the very biggest. I've not looked at the situation lately, and maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see this development and the timing of it as a good thing for that merger. With the UK putting a block and the FTC already seemingly not in favour, this just shows more concerns.

I agree there's not much of a remedy for the smaller deals at least. They aren't even all entirely bad, it can keep companies afloat. It's what often happens down the line that's the sad thing. Especially Sony's tactic of locking people out with zero warning with teams that are successful let alone those lesser so.

That's correct.

But game by game isn't going to get the interest of the watchdogs. Unless, of course, there's the biggest buyout in gaming going on...then it's a bigger deal. Weird timing all round for this particular leak.

It came out under oath at the trial. So did the fact that PS where planning to lock XB out of all of ZeniMax's single player/co-op games at launch.

As a Sony disciple and a newcomer to XBox I’ve clearly missed out on one thing … Ori and the blind forest. I know it’s old but loving this one so far.

It’s magical. Will of the Wisps is even better when you get to it, especially in the looks department. The hard parts are slightly less fecking solid as well which is nice.
