Wout Weghorst

I think this one is just a matter of time. Would have preferred Thuram, but Weghorst will do as well for now. Curious to see how he does, to be honest.

There’s literally not a single similarity between them except “plays up front”.

Weghorst has very impressive physicality (something we need), presses relentlessly and only a month ago ripped apart a defence including our best player in a World Cup quarter final. He’s got a lot of positives

They also both visited Burnley briefly tbf

So, according to Whitwell, Ten Hag likes Weghorst's mentality and we are also in for Memphis. OranjeCafe, here we come again!

We should consider playing 4-6-0 rather than signing shit like Weghorst.
Jesus give it a rest ffs, your like a broken record. How can you possibly have such a problem with anything EtH is doing considering how well things are going at the moment? We really have some proper oddballs in our fanbase I swear

If the system matches he can be pretty good like when he played at Wolfsburg. But using him in a way that it fits would be ten Hags job - and I think Ten Hag could do it.

Alright so you're going to go down the technicality route of pounds vs euros I guess. 100m on Antony and Pogba, 85m on Sancho, 87m on Maguire, 85m on Lukaku... We just spent like 220m in the last window. You can be sure that if we have the option to make a big signing in the summer, that we will do it. United has always been among the record spenders, both in individual fees, and overall net spend, let's not pretend otherwise here.

Yes pounds, euros, dollars, yen etc all different currencies. Man Utd has never spent £100m on any player.

It may happen someday but I would suggest its more likely City spends £100m on a player again before we do.

Ah so we can expect two goals now every game he's playing! Sign him!
I mean... he is coming to be a bench option to be an impact sub which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but is better to have than to not have at all. Because every team gets into scenarios that they have to doing more long balls. So unless you want to see more of Maguire being subbed to be a CF... I don't see how you can get particularly upset about this? We spent a feck ton in the summer, we were never going to be spending much in January. A loan was always logical. Preferring to sign nobody is just strange, given you know the manager wants a target man.

Just like how Haller was a bit shit at West Ham, and then Ten Hag made him into a top striker for himself. Some players just suit other teams and coaches more.

I remember him being an absolute pest against us. What went wrong at Burnley?

Sure, why not. Offers more than anyone else we've been linked to (outside of Felix who it seems we can't afford).

Seeing some of the worst takes on this forum on him, shows how much football people actually even watch.

I think most people still hold it against him that Burnley had about 20 games in hand, 10 doubles, and he scored about 1 goal in those.

Fbref don't do these stats anymore but this was from just before he joined Burnley.

It doesn't mean he's suddenly good enough for United, but it is another factor in why he's a profile of player we might want as cover on loan.

All we have on the bench regarding attackers are more wide men. If he has to come on it will give defences a different problem.

Up until they signed Grealish, we had multiple players that we spent more on individually then they did. I don't know why you think it's unlikely when we get very close to it every year. You think there's a mental block about 100m that United doesn't want to reach but will gladly pay 95m or something? There's nothing to suggest United won't pay up, you're making it sound like we do feck all in the transfermarket and are cheapskates when in reality... we are every year, one of the biggest spenders in the world.

My Twitter trends read -
Weghorst
Cavani
Catherine Tate
Felix
MUFC

I know we're struggling Erik, but come on...

Huge fan, wanted him when he was at Burnley. Option off the bench, big, can link play, set piece threat. What's not to like?!

All moan moan moan.

It's January and we have feck all money.

People expecting Mbappe or something?

I be delighted with Weghorst, offers something completely different.

The highest fee we've paid is £80m. That's a £20m gap to £100m. To make up that extra £20m it's going to take more than players the calibre of Pogba or Antony.

I would rather put the money for Felix. Yes, Weghorst is a nuisance, but quality is more important and Felix is a far too talented football player.

Why does people here have such a difficulty understanding that this is just a short-term loan? And for a short-term loan, are you guys seriously expecting Mbappe or Haaland? I swear to god the intelligence for the posters of this forum is getting lower and lower. I can't even deny it when opposition fans said that most Man Utd fans are braindead because all I have to do is visit this forum and I would have to agree with them. Can we have some basic IQ tests for people signing up to this place please mods?

Weghorst ticks all the boxes for what we want for a backup striker. It will only be a 6 months loan so his signing will not affect us trying to sign a good striker in summer. Even if it doesn't work out, he will be gone in 6 months anyway. The fact that so many posters here are against this means I am quietly confident that he will be useful for us. I mean, this place were moaning the whole fecking time when we were signing Bruno or even Martinez.
