I have only seen him in two matches. First the match against us last season then against the Dutch. He was a proper handful in both matches. I'm going to ignore all negative reports and instead that is his level.

I absolutely love this signing. So smart. Zero risk and a true CF. If he's only even somewhat decent it helps the squad and he won't affect our summer buying for a more permanent player at the position. I also think his play style is exactly what we need. A lot of folks were wishing for Mitrovic who is similar in style, and while Mitrovic is clearly a much better player...he'd be much more expensive (if available at all) and I think Weghorst's actually contribution won't be far off of what we'd have gotten from Mitro the rest of the season.
I think he has elite hold up skills...and given Rashford's form and Antony's skill...the wings might start flying even higher.
The idea that we would overpay for so many expensive cast-offs that weren't really #9's that we could hopefully convert, was the kind of business we've been doing the last decade thats got us into the bloated mess of squad we are almost on the other side of now...

Weghorst provided a great assist for Jay Rodriguez in our game vs Burnley last year. Spins both Maguire and McTominay and provides a perfectly weighted throughball which leads to the goal.
A nice little juxtaposition against the lazy profile of him as some big shithouse physical striker from the 20th century.

I really hope there's an optional buy-clause in there. Unless Burnley outright refused to put one in, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't.

I guess you were blubbering bullshit about how overpaying for Antony, Lisandro and Casemiro was no big deal, and here we are now unable to buy a striker and resorting to loaning a striker from a championship club.
Happy with this signing, any half decent striker who can do striker-things will score goals in this team.
