Wout Weghorst

It sort of makes sense, and he is very different to players we already have.

But damn, ETH really likes to go after players who are Dutch or from the Eredivisie

Sure, but Memphis is a better finisher and simply a more well rounded player. Even if we need someone who can anticipate chances and be a presence in the box, I’d take Memphis as compared to a striker who might end up not being in the same technical class as our other forwards to play with them.
Maybe it depends what it could cost to bring Memphis on loan. Maybe we just don't want to deal with Barcelona any more.

If we had that much to spend in January, we should have sealed the Joao Felix loan already - far superior player even on a 6 month loan. Thuram will just be another short term squad player that we will have trouble offloading in the future.
The price for Felix loan is crazy. We should walk away from getting skinned at every opportunity. It will serve us in the future.

I guess I’ll have to wait till you see him play so you can see the difference because you sure as hell haven’t watched him.

What when he played for Burnley and Holland you mean??? I sure have.

He's coming to us to be a plan B off the bench and that's totally fine by me.

If you think he's going to be our starting number 9 then that's funny as hell. Hahahaha

Can't be worse than Ighalo. Doubt he's good enough to start will probably be used as a plan B.

Then you’ve never watched Thuram I take it?
I haven't seen him a lot but I don't think he's going to get on the end of crosses as much as a 6ft 6 physical monster.
Isnt he 25? He wasn't really impressive in the games I saw at the world cup, I honestly would rather a target man who can bring that extra dimension to ten hag.

This would be my favorite transfer of all time. Wout is the greatest shit player in the history of sports. He would probably cry first time walking up the pitch at Old Trafford.

And lets be honest. He alnost send home the world champions with his cameo at the world cup and got under Messi's skin enough to have him overcome his fear of speaking in public.

His pressing might be why we are going for Weghorst ahead of Depay. I don't know if Thruam or any of the others are not as good at pressing.

I'm just saying maybe his pressing differentiates him from the others.

I’m 99% sure this is happening and I fecking love it.

We don’t have a player of that profile at all. For a 6 month loan it makes heaps of sense. Martial will inevitably get injured then we don’t have a 9 whatsoever.

I predict 10 goals for us across all competitions if we get this done. Laugh all you want - quote me when it happens.

“Erik, you know they don’t have to be Dutch or Dutch-adjacent…”

As someone who judges players on very little I don’t mind this as he looked alright when he played against us. Admittedly, we have made some crap players look good against us. Looked alright in the World Cup though. Far better than De Jong anyway.

Fair enough if you want him just for the capability to have a Fellaini type come off the bench (who was very effective at that.) While Thuram isn’t a great header of the ball he does everything else at a good enough level to be a rotational piece here, with the upside of maybe developing enough to become a starter.
