Wout Weghorst

I don’t understand why people are banging on about Thuram vs Weghorst, 2 completely different style of players. We have plenty of Thurams, no Weghorsts. We need a Weghorst style striker. Same story with Gakpo who would be more a Thuram type player.

Him and Felix together as January loan signings would be great. Don’t forget we’re filling the spots left vacant by No.7, No.11 and potentially No.25.

This is happening. Felix on top would be a bonus, with Donny’s injury maybe we could that pull that off too.

He does follow United but also Liverpool and a few other clubs.

Not quite sure there’s enough pennies down the sofa to get Felix in, geez

the glazers have really upped their game. think how happy we’ll all be when we get no one in, in january, compared to these alternatives? genius.

Times are that hard we’re having to go for a player that’s from a championship club. ETH is going back on his word really about signing average players. Even if it’s for 6 months. We need someone who can make a difference… will he be that guy? I’m not sure.

This would be a great signing , You can't have the likes of Kane or Osimhen in the summer unless we have a signing like this now.

If you buy Thuram now for 10/15 million you're then stuck with a player in 5 months time on 120k+ PW who isn't going to play because you're then trying to get a top striker in. And before anybody says sell Thuram for profit or sell Martial that just isn't going to happen.

We have already tried to get rid of Martial and the best we could do was loan him out to Seville who then wanted to send back because he was always injured. No one is going to buy Thuram in 4 or 5 months time when they will have to offer an increase on his new Utd wages when they could just buy him now on lower wages than Utd would have to offer.

Get him in, get through the season, thank him and send him on his way. We can then look for the top quality striker we need when they're finally available.

He's also a pretty good player as well as being quite unique due to his size, I mean he came on and changed a big game as recently as the World cup knock out game with Argentina causing all kinds of Havoc due to his size and shown great feet for the free kick goal. Another plus is that he's also already use to the league because of his Burnley stint

The Joao Felix fee's are insane, imagine paying 20+million and having to ease him in because he isn't use to the Prem and then before he's even ready to start over Martial he has to go back (look at Sancho and to a lesser degree Antony, Even Casimero didn't go in for a month or so). That money could be spent far better in the summer time.

Don't see the point in loaning any old crap player. Quantity alone isn't going to get us top 4, we need quality

sounds like you’re having serious wouts about his ability.

I can't believe this is real, and it also means that there's no chance we're signing Felix.

Are there no good players in the Championship then? This guy just played in a World Cup?

Don’t understand the logic.

This may get the best out of our underwhelming 80 million pound wide man (Antony).

He is a good pinchhitter option and the other thing he does is work hard. He presses well, basically is constantly harassing the defenders.

Good short term option for sure.

Thuram has only recently been turned from a winger into a striker, this season he has 13 in 17. Not bad stats. Especially in a market where #9s are a bit of a scarcity, hence the position shift. Big, mobile, able to dribble and play. If we don't get Thuram who are we going for in the summer that's obviously better and don't say someone that's going to cost £100m because we have not ever spent that kind of money on a single player.
Huh. We spend that sort of money ever year on an individual

I think he’d be a good addition for this season. He would give us another dimension, a more direct goal threat and would be bang up for it.

Had an impact for Netherlands at the World Cup. I remember his causing us a lot of problems for Burnley last season too on his debut IIRC.

Obviously it didn’t work out for him in the Prem last season but there’s going to be drawbacks to any option that’s available on a short-term basis.

it’s great for grassroots football. my mate, big chris, is getting an early night and only having 4 carlings, so he’s at his best for the dog and duck 2nd 11 tomorrow, just in case erik comes a calling.

For an Holland team that’s obviously lacking strikers. There’s good players in the championship of course… but the question is are they good enough for a top team? It’s not about them being good it’s about being good enough for us.

I thought that was the point of Ighalo? And the point of Cavani? And even the point of Ronaldo? This club has skimped out on signing an actual no.9 for a long fecking time and it’s only carrying on doing so

Well are there any good enough for a top team? You seem to suggest not so you must know the answer?

He’s not at Burnley as he’s too good for that level.

His record this season is very good.

Burnley fans hated him, he was useless for them.

Even worse its a loan, a loan in the last 6 months of his contract too no decent player is leaving under those circumstances its pure desperation because of the finances. And if that's the case fair enough it is what it is its better than only having a crocked Martial but we also shouldn't pretend its a brilliant player.

There really is a dearth of forwards out there now. There's no in between. You either have great or sh*te.

Why? both seem more likely given there’s still info coming out we want the pair and they are very different

Because most likely there's no money for both and the idea was for Felix to replace Martial or rotate with him.
