Wout Weghorst

6’6” tall.

A very powerful target man who is a good focal point and at hold up play. Similar to Giroud.

Footmercato is one of the worst sources on the internet.

First people fall for the Aboubakar nonsense, then 5 minutes later they are believing this shite. So easily played.

Personally, was hoping for Marcus Thuram for like £10-15m.
Weghorst has massively outscored him in every single year they both played in the Bundesliga. Thuram is obviously younger, but it's about a short term alternative for the squad.

He’s the big man off the bench when chasing a result option.

With the way Ten Hag has been speaking about Martial he is high in his thoughts and course Rashford is on fire so could start games at CF with no issue too.

The problem with someone like this is they're still not ultimately good enough, but would probably demand bigger roles/cause squad problems in the summer/next season.
If we had that much to spend in January, we should have sealed the Joao Felix loan already - far superior player even on a 6 month loan. Thuram will just be another short term squad player that we will have trouble offloading in the future.
He comes with a 4/5 year contract and we’d want him replaced in the summer.

Thuram has only recently been turned from a winger into a striker, this season he has 13 in 17. Not bad stats. Especially in a market where #9s are a bit of a scarcity, hence the position shift. Big, mobile, able to dribble and play. If we don't get Thuram who are we going for in the summer that's obviously better and don't say someone that's going to cost £100m because we have not ever spent that kind of money on a single player.

Maybe we made our intentions clear to him and he thinks it's a better challenge than playing for Besiktas, so Burnley are ok with that?
Ye a lot of players like coming to us just so they can say I’ve played for Man United. We’re such a massive club sometimes they don’t even care if they’re gonna get game time or not.

In what fecking world is Thuram signing for £10m a negative? Not being a short term option is a negative now too? His resale value alone is £40m, even if he's shite.

Let's see if anyone more reliable drops on it

Let's face it, owners not allowing us to spend another penny until the club is sold. We need bodies, alternative options and nothing more than a short-term commitment to a stopgap. Let's give it to the big man until the end of the season.

We clearly don't want to sign someone on a longer contract than a few months

Not buying this.

He couldn't even do better than Chris fecking Wood at fecking Burnley.

With Ten Hag's striker history largely being Haller, Dolberg and Brobbey, I'm quite suprised we haven't already signed Wout Weghorst or another similar big lump. :nervous:

 :(

I’m telling you we’ll be begging to sign him permanently by the end of the loan.

I'd take him 100 %.

Actually excited for this. Came out of the blue.

If that’s who ETH wants bring him in, he’s been spot on so far regarding transfers.

He didn't play for Burnley...he played for Sean Dyche's Burnley so I'll forgive him his record there and prefer to think of his two goals against the World Champions in Qatar.

If he joins it will probably be as 3rd choice striker and somebody to throw on for last 10 mins if we need a goal.

Was he the guy who scored late equaliser

Is he actually that much better? He is 25, so if we sign him, we are going to commit to probably a 4 year deal minimum. It's not like he lit up the world cup with France either. He was decent, but not to the extent that it looked like he would make anything other than a good backup for us long term.

The one I've been dreaming about. Get him on a boat, put him on a plane, let him win us the league in the heavy Manchester rain.

He'll probably be strapped to a long boat down the Manchester ship canal

Never at all did I anticipate that the strikers we were going to sign in this window were Vincent Aboubakar & Wout Weghorst. I’ll leave it at that..

Reading into these things can get a bit silly at times but he clearly says 'bye-bye' in that video

If you actually look close, the sweat has made the white shirt see through and he has a United training top on under.
