Thought he was great today, tbh. Really good at enabling us to dominate high turnover games by winning the ball back quickly. Would like him to be a little more confident when he has the ball but so far he had been an excellent signing. (For profile, price, impact)

Even his chance wasn't poorly taken, almost identical in placement to Rashford's second goal and the GK saved it with his back foot. If he's getting them on target and testing the GK I am happy.

To be honest it would be pretty hard to not get it on target when he's not trying to find the corner, he was right in front of the goal. He needs to be scoring them.

Being cack aside, surely no one can dislike the guy. Imagine if he were talented, he would be absolutely world class with that work ethic of his. Futile ofcourse since he is not very talented at all. When you signed him this performance is what I expected of him, but I thought he would actually score a few goals as well, since he is actually capable of it.
I still think we are better off with him being a good overall footballer and a crap goalscorer than the other way around. We can still create chances for other players with him contributing to it, whereas with a poacher style number 9 who offers nothing in build up, we may look worse overall.

Just highlights how good we could be with a top level striker though. Can't even begin imagine Kane playing that role. Rashford would score 50 a season with Bruno and Kane serving him.

Give me a couple of examples who are somewhat attainable? Surely there can't be more than one or two available and half a dozen total.

Honestly think he'd be a 100m+ player if he could finish.

You're funny.

You have to have a heart of stone if you're not willing him to score a goal for the sheer amount of effort he brings. Thought he played well other than his finishing and you can tell the team likes him a lot.

I'm nearly reaching Diego Forlan levels of sympathy here
He's saving it for the final :nervous:

This was my thought watching him scupper yet another chance. He’s going to have a big goal in him somewhere down the line. Works his ass off, does do some nice things I just hope at some point soon he gets his goals because I have a feeling when one goes in many more will follow.

You know what, now I would pick him over Martial/Elanga or even Garnacho.

Martial never get fit, kind of lazy tracking back and now Rashy is in red hot form, his presence may harm our team.
Elanga - not United quality, he has a bit of everything but just not good enough.
Garnacho - He is much better as an impact sub, still has a lot to learn imho.

Since he joins we are in a winning run, didn't count but I think he at least start half of the games? His pressing save a lot of energy of Rashy so he concentrate on attacking runs, may be this is what ETH wants from him?

Has to be doesn't it?

Albeit he won't offer what Wout does very well and that is run like a madman chasing the opposition. He's like a very tall, awkward Park Ji-Sung.
Then he’s not the one, i don’t see Osimhen with that composure on the ball and especially first touch, surely the scouts are looking for that?
Ten Hag is a genius though, you can tell he believes he can make Weghorst into the player he needs, has that hold up play but he can coach him into having the confidence in front of goal. But if not him surely they are working on someone. Same has to go for a young dm like casemiro to rotate with him, and last but not least we have 3 cbs for two positions, ideally the scouts find another great option there. Then our spine is sorted out for sure, then another midfielder and a fullback and we could say with the new 9 our attack has many options

His finishing is shite. But my goodness, his workrate and energy are insane. Not a bad passer as well. He’s our Mandzukic.

I think he’s been quite unlucky up front and although he should have scored a couple, happy with the investment and what we are getting for it. He is contributing to wins, working hard and leaving it all on the pitch.…what more do people want? People have payed more, for less.

Team is scoring and he is playing his part.. no real complaints. we were really light up top.. he has definitely helped.
Could have scored a couple more goals too over the last few weeks..
He'll score a brace against Barca.. I can feel it.. somewhere. .

Sabitzer has been poor?
Are you watching Thomas Sabitzer by mistake?

Christ all mighty, unless you're smacking in goal after goal nobody on here is ever happy.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.

I also acknowledges he's still early and I'd like to see him with Casemiro but you keep up the hysterics.

Think is overall game is decent he's just missing that clinical finishing, I'd still rather keep him than Martial though

Enjoyed his performance and loved how he drew away a Leicester defender to open a huge gap for Sancho's goal.

I'm glad he seems to be enjoying it and working hard. He was getting a goal every other game in Turkey and enjoying the fan adulation so it's quite a reality shock for him but he's still doing well for us. You'd nearly always jump at the chance to test yourself at a higher level. He'll get some goals I feel.

Want him to score at Old Trafford just once, but yeah he's not very good. Just someone who works hard and isn't selfish basically. Just give him a pen or something one day. Players coming back now, not sure he will keep his starting spot even if Martial stays out.

Looks like a giant turtle. Sort of apt for Wout.
Now you've got my questioning if that heat map is real!
Pace of a turtle but hard shelled defensive qualities and if the mythical story legends are true, he will get to the finish line before the rabbit!
I'm gonna say that Ronaldo is the rabbit in this story and that it's already a given that it will be Weghorst who gets to United's finish line this season.

Actually, on that topic, I would also argue that it's currently better to have Weghorst than Ronaldo playing in this team. (Not as a squad option, but actually playing games.) Which is kind of an insane thought but there you have it: an actual upgrade!

I call him Wout Workhorse.

How can anyone want to keep him. He's only looking just about serviceable because Rashford is bailing him out. If Rashford wasn't scoring he'd probably be the most hated person on here.

He's doing half of his job really well and the other half terribly. We have two Fred's only in Weghorst's case he seems to have a football brain.

Or his off the ball work is so valuable it affords the players around him to thrive.

Rashford is benefiting massively off WW and the manager clearly sees it.

Thankfully fans don't pick the team.

Price tag & situation is irrelevant when judging performance

He was poor today. Aerially ineffective, the 50% of aerial duels he won came to nothing as he is unable to direct a knockdown adequately.

Doesn’t look a goal threat what so ever, works hard, but if that’s your only plus point as a player then there is a problem.

Form is concerning.

I thought he did pretty well. His energy and work rate is fantastic and he put in some excellent passes and through balls. The only thing really missing from his game today was his finishing. He seems to be doing much better as a 10 than a 9 and gives freedom to the players around him.

He works so hard off the ball and gives us great opportunities to keep teams stuck in their own half.

He’s limited in an possession sense but I do really appreciate him.

Do we think ETH will sign him in the summer?

And what would be an acceptable price?

He did well against Leicester, some good link play, press from the front, disrupt their ability to play into midfield. He had a few golden chances, 2 of which were saved with the keeper’s legs, so he’s inches away. I think his performances are improving and he’ll start banging in those easy chances. He’s not the striker of our dreams, he’s a stopgap and performing as expected/required.

Wow…..the lads been here for just over a month. This place never fails to amaze me.

He’s what I imagine McT would be like up top. With added donkey.

Yet the team is winning and the manager is very happy. The players were busting a gut to get him a goal today.

It's almost as if every player doesn't have to be a showstopper to do the job in a team game.

I can't imagine the whinging from our fans if we didn't get WW in and weren't winning games.

There is a ridiculous entitlement to our fanbase.

And what exactly did he say that was wrong and that amazed you? Do you think he is aerially good, and that he is a goal threat?

Every game he's played so far I thought he's been absolute shite. Like playing with 10 men. But today, he was good. I actually like him in the #10. Not so much for his offense, but more so for his energy in midfield and how he can disrupt their holding midfielder. With that being said, he has to work on his finishing. He needs to score those chances he gets when he's open with the keeper. But today, despite not scoring, a solid 7/10 for me...

Can't complain about his work rate. Still, watching Wout Workhorse gives me a feeling of watching a center half playing up front. He does his job though (if scoring goals is not one of them), so no complaints about his performance today.

People who want him to be dropped will be bitterly disappointed if you hear ETH’s post-game comments. He was brought here with a clear reason.

First, he was a goal threat, got in the position to score on a few occasions. Also he has never been good in the air despite his size so that’s no surprise. What was the most surprising is you said price tag doesn’t come into it. Well that’s like me buying a mini and expecting it to drive like a Rolls. He‘s exceeded my expectations as 8m valued player is contributing to us winning football matches after only being here for 6 weeks.
