He's getting chances, that's the main thing. It's only when he stops getting them I'll be worried.

Starting to warm up to him as a potential squad depth signing as long as we’re not spending out of our nose to do so. Doesn’t have the quality to be a starter but he works his socks off and tries to make things happen.

I also thought he was good, could easily have come away with a couple of assists, and he should have scored obviously.

What a crazy performance. Arguably our best midfielder and our worst attacker

Anyway think he did very well today. Love his energy and fighting. The whole team was trying their best to set him for a goal and still he couldn't score though

People are too harsh on him and have to set their expectations accordingly

We got him on loan on January cos with our shit owners that's pretty much all we could afford. On top of that I bet ideally Eth would have preferred martial having his minutes.

Also keep in mind we're getting somebody from Burnley who was on loan to besiktas.

One thing that can't be faulted is his work and runs and when dropping deep it also creates space for rashford. He's defo better with the ball at his feet than trying to challenge in the air.

He is reminding me of early Forlan. Works his arse off and clearly helping the team just can't get the finish

I love his attitude and his work rate and I feel a goal would possibly open a door, you can see it's frustrating him.

Prefer this loan over Sabitzer who I feel has been poor all round but early days.

His work rate today was bang on! Never stopped running. Should have had a goal or 2 but he works so hard for the team. Could have also grabbed an assist.

Sancho and Bruno were trying their best to get him a goal. Was good to see. I think the players like him and respect his endeavor.

Let's face it. This ain't RvN circa 2003 we're working with here, and beggars can't be choosers. We needed a player to do what EtH wants him to do, and he more or less is. Excellent workrate and pressure - better than most of our attackers in this regard. A few goals here and there would be nice though.

I thought sabitzer was pretty decent today. Worked hard, won the ball back and made some good passes

You have to have a heart of stone if you're not willing him to score a goal for the sheer amount of effort he brings. Thought he played well other than his finishing and you can tell the team likes him a lot.

I'm nearly reaching Diego Forlan levels of sympathy here

I wanna see him in front of the defence in place of Case for shits and giggles.

I had expected more quality on the ball offensively but he's doing everything I had hoped off the ball.

Great value signing. A 'value' quality no less but still good value for what he brings. Some of the takes in this thread are incredibly harsh and out of context.

His runs are good. His passing is good. His defending is good. His workrate is good. Just needs to score goals when opportunity presented. It will click hopefully. I am not expecting bucket load of goals from him anyway but few here and there won't hurt.

He honestly looks like a fan from the crowd picked to play upfront for us. The game is way too fast for him, he's always a step behind the play.

The chances were coming thick and fast after he was subbed. I doubt he scores again this season unless its a goalie howler or a deflection.
I have a feeling I may be right and if so it's all my fault.

We should cut him a bit of slack. Everybody knows he isn’t good enough, but he does do a lot of good things. Hard to get at him too much when you see the effort he puts in.

You can see his frustration at the lack of goals. Shame he didn’t nab that one at the end.

Works incrediblly hard and presses well. But let's call a spade a spade. He's a pub player on the ball.

I wouldn’t mind keeping him after this season. Can bring something to the squad. Can have a big role to play. His work rate is superb. His pressing and pressure is top class. It’s a shame he isn’t a clinical beast infront of goal and a little quicker because he’d actually be excellent. Has something to offer this team, can be a fan favourite.

He is lucky that the team is winning, because if he had missed that chance at 0-0 the criticism would obviously be much harsher.

Weghorst works his socks off and clearly does what the manager wants, but there is something severely lacking from his game. The ability to use his size is totally missing and his movements are way too big.

He was pretty good apart from the terrible finishing. Which is kind of a problem when you are a striker. But he seems to have the right attitude and works tirelessly. So far not a bad deal.

His heatmap is quite the sight, to be honest:

What the hell... How do you interpret that even! CM?!

Amazing passing and vision ability, decent workrate, but my god - he's not a goalscorer and he is so fecking slow. I'll be willing to take him as a backup option, but obviously not someone you want starting regularly.

His passing his good. Didn’t he release Sancho for his second chance? It’s his finishing that’s poor so far.

I really like him. He just needs some luck, on another day that goes in and everybody says how great he is.

The desire he shows is commendable, i’ll never slag a player off if they work that hard every game.

We have to remember he’s an emergency loan signing after all - without him we’d be struggling a lot more.

Doing a decent job, but let's be honest he wouldn't be playing if we didn't have a sick note in martial.

He’s like Fred if he was gargantuan and played up front

He's not slow once he gets moving but his acceleration is poor

I thought he was really good today. His work ethic is immense, he really throws his body into the cause and some of his passing was decent too. Obviously it's a shame he's so slow, not able to latch on to a few good opportunities and his finishing isn't happening at the moment. For a last minute loan I think he's been solid.

He was really good today, wish he’d scored that chance. He brings a lot to the team.

An Enigma.
Put in tonnes of work and key in our quality of play, but also the most obvious position to upgrade, and by some distance.
So many players could offer that workrate, AND put some of those chances away.

Give me a couple of examples who are somewhat attainable? Surely there can't be more than one or two available and half a dozen total.

Honestly think he'd be a 100m+ player if he could finish.

He’s a decent passer which is why ETH has been playing him behind Rashford, but he’s god awful at everything else. I appreciate people wanting him to succeed because he tries hard, but anyone saying he’s a useful attacker is kidding themselves.

He’s Burnley level for a reason.
