Wot, no transfers? It's all happening now!

Looks like another day of inactivity

But when do we think United will start making deadlines in the transfer market? Not necessarily even signings, just some noise around the club.

Thinking that this 3 day weekend will just be a complete break, but after that it's the 1st September, United are back in training the next day (i think) - I expect Something to come out towards the end of next week

My guess is that we won't talk about it, likelihood is we won't make big signings. Ed will keep schtum and the come out and say we couldn't get deals done in this climate.

Are we really not doing ANYTHING? looking around the usual twitter suspects theres not even a sniff of transfer progress. Its either a really good sign or a very very bad sign.

I’ll admit I’m starting to get frustrated. Sancho is a brilliant young player, probably perfect for us... but with players like Thiago & Partey potentially available for relatively modest fees, what does Ed do all day?

We are using the covid excuse whilst other teams go and spend money. The funny thing is we were briefed that United have the finances to take advantage of Covid :lol:

Looks like we are the most affected club by covid now.

Prior to Covid, we were not going to finish top 4, had Sanchez and co on wage book.

Since Covid, we have got top 4 (£80m) reportedly, got rid of £55m worth of wages, maybe selling Sanchez and yet we cannot afford transfers.

So far, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal have all strengthened their teams and we are trying to get BVB to reduce their price.
Yes, and we took out a loan of 150m, surely we can afford to invest on one of the best young players around in a position we’re weakest.

We are always taking loans, that is what the Glazers business model is built on. Take advantage of low interest rates.

The Glazers take out personal loans by leveraging the club

There is a possibility that we sign Sancho, my issue is why are we waiting so long, wouldn't you rather spend the money and have the player here for pre season so we can start the season well?

I really hope fans remember if Ole isn't backed this summer. It is 100% on the board if he fails because of no improvements for next season.

Once the season starts, we will win some matches and then when we lose, it will all be on Ole and how he didn't make subs, how he didn't choose the right formation etc. The board knows that very well.
My only hope is that Ole is a legend at the club and will not be viewed in the same way as Jose or LvG was.

It just goes to show what cnuts the Glazers and Woodward are when they’re failing to back a club legend in the market. There were excuses for Jose and LVG but what is the excuse here? Do the Glazers not know that our twitter feed would be nothing without Ole’s winner at the nou camp? I mean the club loves posting videos of our past glories and they have Ole to thank for the biggest one of them all.

Nah, there was already underlying misforgivings about Ole. Once we buy Brooks and say that we will be looking to bring through youth, and its up to our senior squad players to step up, Ed will step back and Ole will dutifully fall on his sword. Cue bringing in Poch, and the cycle starts again.

That video is unnecessarily dark. The guy must be a right weirdo.
He makes awesome videos. He has in previous years come out with videos of hope and excitement at the start of season. The video is dark because he wants it to be that way, I guess. Don't fault him. There are so many lies when it comes to Glazers and Woodward.

Word is that Thiago has already agreed a pre contract with Liverpool, so if his heart is already set on them, we'd really be wasting our time if we tried to pursue him. The club must be pretty confident in landing a big signing if we aren't even bothering to brief about the lesser targets anymore.

If it was a work of fiction, fair enough, but if he actually believes that stuff, then he needs help.

When was the last summer window we signed no one? I honestly don't remember, seems massively unlikely to me.

Yeah we will buy Brooks imo, he seems to fit with previous strategies, is easy to get and will probably cost us 25-35m

absofeckinglutely

I think the biggest frustration is, there is evidence as clear as day, you invest in the squad, you get better results,

We invested in Maguire and AWB last summer, out defence improved a great deal, we invested in Bruno last winter, our attack improved a great deal, we just scraped top 4 at the end of the season , and with teams all around us investing there cannot be any excuse from the board to not invest at all, maybe they can spare £80m of their dividend's towards the team for just this once.

Sancho, Grealish, a few promising youngsters; I wonder if there will be one other notable signing?

(Staying positive...)

Wouldn't hold my breath.. looks like we will be getting Brooks on deadline day.

This will happen. They'll blame Ole. I'm kind of pessimistic about how United fans will react to that considering some of the abuse Ole was getting here. I pray the match-going fans give Woodward and the Glazers hell for the eventual sacking of Ole.

This is my biggest worry. I fear for Ole because the board will make the manager the scapegoat yet again for their failings.

Alot of fans will be having a go at Ole and ignore the incompetence from the higher ups, #Poch will be trending and if he gets the jobs all the fans who wanted him will be happy and will be saying, give him a year etc...

It is becoming so boring and predictable how this club is run and what will happen.

The same fate will follow every manager that comes in.

There’s quite a difference between £120m and a mammoth 5 year contract compared to paper talk about Leeds making a much smaller signing.

It's not just 1 transfer though for leeds, its looking like by the end of this month they will have ended up spending 70 plus million on transfer fees already.

This is problematic in itself though as it could mean solskjaer get's a free pass to having a poor season and not being judged as to whether it's doing the club any benefit of sticking with him.

He is probably more interested in finding more sponsorship deals than sorting out transfer dealings

You think we're going to get 2 highly expensive transfers!? You must be king optimist for that alone.
Let alone another "Notable" one on top!

Yeap, Ole said at the end of the season he needs to add depth to the squad, so this is fully on the board and not ole, Only problem is ole doesn't seem the to be the type to go kicking down Eds door

Every single defeat already sees every player, Ole, Woodward and Glazers bashed to high heaven.
That'll just continue.

Yeah I know exactly who my ire will be aimed at if Ole doesn't get anyone in this window or ends up with a last minute panic buy similar to what we saw with Ighalo in January. He has held up his end of the bargain by getting champions league football now they should reward that by backing him

If we got Grealish for 70m and he is our only signing this summer, would you all be happy?

You know, it could have been worse, we could have sign no one...
