Wot, no transfers? It's all happening now!

Next two weeks will be crucial. If we go into season without finding any signings I think we will leave our business until next year or 2022 when prices may come down after economics inevitably get worse across football. I certainly don’t think we will be rushing into making any expensive decisions for the next 18-24 months. We might try to get a couple of inexpensive loanees in to get some squad depth.

Our targets yes, of course. Getting them here is the point and the criticism addressed at Ed and co. There is still time of course, just talking a "what if" scenario if we end up empty handed and throw another manager to the wolves because you know fans will not have anything other then progression next season, reinforcements or not.
Yeah I get that, and I can certainly understand the frustration on here.
Here's hoping the plan does work out for the best, for everyone's sakes  the melt down on here will be intense...

But why three weeks. Give or take in three weeks we will have our first game of the season. Logically you should have your squad ready before the first game of the season. To not be able to sign one player well before the season starts is a sign of them being inept. I hope they do sign one by end of next week (4th september). AT least then Ole and the player will have time to get adjusted to the squad.
Right, so there's still time.
Patience is required.

Solskjaer seemingly has no economical or obtainable players on his wish list or you’d think we’d have at least sorted them by now.

Crespo one of the best finishers i have ever seen at Chelsea. Easily. He didnt really flop. He did alright. Re. our signings, i havent seen anyone say they will definitely make us winners again, but they improve us. Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell, Havertz maybe, thiago Silva is certainly improving our squad. Not a debate. And i dont even think we are finished.

Right any chance you could stop rubbing all these signings in our faces,ok we get it you can spend with reckless abandon and we are having to resort to pennypinching in this current situation

I've come to the conclusion that we shouldn't bother with a "Transfer" Forum because we aren't going to get any done

I mean.. I read the first sentence and thought that was sensible. Not sure about the rest of it.

Nothing would surprise me with United. They can be very frustrating in the transfer market considering what they COULD do with ambitious owners determined to be the best team in the World. We could easily be on par with Bayern / Madrid / Barcelona. In fact we should be.

But I don't think they'll go quite as far as making no signings for the first XI from January 2020 to August 2022.

I still think there will be a big signing this summer (£60m +) I just think we'll be very boring and drag it out as much as possible.

Been open for a month today and not a sausage, not even the faintest whiff of a transfer. C'mon United, give me something.

At this stage I think I'd even probably accept the "no value in the market" statment, at least I can stop checking in on here to find out we've apparantly done feck all again today.

The way I see it is our team is very young and there are more players to come through our academy in the upcoming months. We can improve but any player that would make us substantially better is going to cost a bomb, and I am not sure we will be keen on paying a lot for players when it’s not even certain when we can get one of our main revenue streams (game day income) back on track.

I wasn't talking about chelsea fans pal, its ours that's are the current #1 cheerleaders and saying that, if you go through some of the threads over the past few days you'll see it.

@SalfordRed18 Why does anyone sign anyone then? Weird logic.

You seem to miss my point, like I said above, it's not about signings per say its about people thinking ah look Chelsea are doing this and will be up there with pool/city next season, point I made was they dont guarantee anything, as I'll use us, could be another veron, forlan, go further back and include Davenport, Birtles .

For the Caftards telling us not to panic, when should we be worried about signings? I mean how many days prior to the closure of the window?

About 10 minutes after the window closes, you never know with them faxes

I would like to have had players in for the first game but now that isn't happening, accepted the fact it will be into the new season before we buy someone now

6 weeks to go? True, even though the season starts in ca 3 weeks' time.

MUFC is first and foremost a leveraged investment vehicle, secondly a football club under poor stewardship.

Look at Bayern on how to manage a football club.

Yeah that for me would be the best run club in world football

Seems like the specialist in failure went after Tonali, but like always, too late. really getting sick of this, How can Edward Woodward be so freaking bad at this job?

Everyday without any credible news of our transfer involvements is very concerning. Again, last day panic buy of leftovers won't solve the problem. Time is now or never.

apologies monsieur. I have absolutely no doubt David Brooks for £50m is imminent..... :wenger:

I don’t know but let’s not believe everything we read.

It's an opinion piece.

If you're thinking 'well the author might know his shit'

He wrote this last year for The Athletic... (you'll like this)

"Lingard may be the best candidate for the Manchester United club captaincy. Comfortable playing in the midfield three, as a No. 10, a wide forward, or even as a false nine, no player in the Manchester United squad possesses the Englishman’s versatility or his talent for scoring on the big occasions"

I don’t dislike Lingard as much as the majority of the forum, but that’s just bloody nuts!

That’s one of the worst pieces of analysis I’ve read on a Utd player.

Bayern don't allow outside investment into the club to be more than 30% meaning they can never be used as a personal piggy bank like we are.

Wrong.

First shalt shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then thou shalt panic.

Even Arsenal have signed players. I don't know what are we waiting for. None of the clubs are gonna give us any discount due to our past shambolic strategies in the transfer market. We have to pay what they are asking.

If we go into the season without any new signings, I'm afraid, it will be very difficult for us to go back to where we intend to/belong as a club.

If that is indeed the case then simply have to get Jack before the window closes, personally I am a greedy fecker and still want us to sign both of them
I would be very underwhelmed by us just signing grealish particularly given that he doesnt plug any obvious gaps in the first team. He woild be a useful depth option for central midfield and backup left forward but would rather we bought a cb,rw, fb or cf

So we don't have the money to spend 120 million on sancho because of covid but Leeds seem to be throwing money around left right and centre on new players and them now being heavily linked with buying Luiz Felipe of Lazio for around 30 million.

There’s quite a difference between £120m and a mammoth 5 year contract compared to paper talk about Leeds making a much smaller signing.

Start panicking on the morning of the final day of the window. Anytime before that....pointless

Not only are we not bringing anyone in, we are also don't seem to be seeing any outgoings which is just as worrying.

it's clear as day that Ole doesn't have faith in his squad as a whole, with the amount of playing time the 1st XI had after the restart without many dramatic changes to the team after each match. Heck, he didnt make a change to our team when a goal down and 15 minutes to go in an EL semi final (perhaps a mixture of managerial incompetency blended in there too).

We don't need 3 or 4 first team signings at all; we need to strengthen the squad and to do that requires moving the surplus players, in addition to one or maybe two first team players. The fact that no one has moved is a worrying sign, with the likes of several defenders and midfielders not up to scratch. The team looked run into the ground by the end of last season, so we may be in for a shocking finish if we dont make the appropriate moves in and out.
