Wot, no transfers? It's all happening now!

It's an opinion piece.

If you're thinking 'well the author might know his shit'

He wrote this last year for The Athletic... (you'll like this)

"Lingard may be the best candidate for the Manchester United club captaincy. Comfortable playing in the midfield three, as a No. 10, a wide forward, or even as a false nine, no player in the Manchester United squad possesses the Englishman’s versatility or his talent for scoring on the big occasions"

I'm glad I was sat down when I read that... stuff of nightmares.

I would be very underwhelmed by us just signing grealish particularly given that he doesnt plug any obvious gaps in the first team. He woild be a useful depth option for central midfield and backup left forward but would rather we bought a cb,rw, fb or cf

I could still see us getting a CB if we sell Smalling & Rojo, in regards to a CF wouldn't expect any movement until Ighalo leaves

Convinced we are still all in for Sancho at RW,however Dembele on loan with obligation to buy wouldn't be a bad backup option.

Yay no new signings this season. Another year with the legendary amigos of Pereira, Lingard and Mata given how lucky we are with injuries.

Whoop whoop!

This will definitely bang if we make a couple of signings and it could still happen

Oh man... After reading that last quote I feel sick inside. Makes me wanna puke.

I have no idea why I was so convinced we're getting back on track and would sign Sancho the day after the EL knockout.

Turning out to be a similar summer to the one after Jose finished 2nd. A smart board would buy from a position of strength when we have CL football not from a position of panic when we are desperate to get it back. One shows ambition for the title the other contentment with CL qualification.

That summer Liverpool kicked it up a notch while we dilly dallied, this summer it's been Chelsea and City.

We are the new Arsenal.

I liken us to Tottenham.

I've only just realised that the community shield is this weekend. The season opener, and we're close to getting no one. Ed needs to get his ass into gear.
Then it's internationals after that so players will be away, and then the season starts for most PL teams, with our rivals having very winnable games putting us potentially behind them right from the start until whenever we play our game in hand. Not ideal time not to have the squad in order honestly...

When is Ole next due to speak publicly? Any pressers coming up? He was quite forthright on needing to add depth towards the end of last season. Reckon this will be a little tough to grin and brush off if we don't do anything before the season starts.

He's not one to rock the boat, which is why they gave him the job.

He'll smile and nod and talk about how fantastic the squad is and how Lingard will be like a new signing for us this season.

He won't pull a Jose, but doubt it would be that simple.

Why would he want to criticize his boss? You mad?

Solskjaer seemingly has no economical or obtainable players on his wish list or you’d think we’d have at least sorted them by now.
We're Man Utd, you would think we don't have to shop at "economical class" especially when we have a massive gap to make up for.

Is poor form when The Metro is just about the only souce linking us to new players. I can't honestly remember such a quiet no transfer news regarding United, once Sancho appears off there's hardly anything else. Tonali is being linked, but I suspect it's to spur Inter on to close their deal.

Our transfers.

It's bizarre, clearly we were going in the right direction and now we face another setback.. which will cost more money in the long run when they inevitably need to change the manager and he needs different players. Instead of backing this manager and let him do his job. Mind boggling how this club is run.

Laughing at people agitated by that article. Our summer is frustrating but our activity is in no way tied to an opinionated that is filled with opinions rather than actual facts. Better to wait for actual substance from the club before we make noise last time we signed nobody in a summer window was 25 years ago no chance history repeats itself but whether we get who we want/need is the question

Also good look getting Pogba to sign a new contract if we show no ambition. Which means he will go very cheap next season to prevent him leaving on a free

Ole needs to talk big once training comes back.

It'll be his head being axed at the end of the day. We can't go backwards again.

I like Ole a lot more than many seem to, but there is no way Ole puts his head above the parapet like that. He did all I would expect recently with his statement

I think it's time for serious protests again, if this window ends with nothing we as fans can't sit back and accept it.

This is why I am calm, inaction in the transfer market has resulted in raids on Woodward's property before so I see no reason it won't kick off again.

Why arent we selling anybody?!

How big is our squad anyway?

Do we have a preseason scheduled? Friendlies? Asian tournament or smthing?

When do the lads go back to training?

Who do we need to sell?

Smalling
Lingard
Andreas
Jones
Romero
Mata to retire next season?

Who else?

Anybody from the academy might rise up?

Thing is I can see this one being worse. The protest before was based on not signing anyone but also there were fans who thought the manager was not doing a good job.

Since then, we bought a good player and we got top 4 which buys Ole some time.

Ole in or out, this time we all know if we do not improve the squad we fall even further back, the blame and protest will be against Woodward and the Glazers.

I would not be surprised to see protests outside the club for home games, we were promised a re-build.

Marc Roca reportedly headed for Altetico Madrid for less than 20m euros. He's better than Matic and a lot better than Fred/McTominay.

Plenty of value in the market.

Really amazing, that. These are the kind of buys many clubs pull off and we seem incapable of. Looks like they might be preparing to let Partey go. And I still can't get my head round why we aren't going in for Partey. £45m sounds like a steal.

Looks like another day of inactivity

But when do we think United will start making deadlines in the transfer market? Not necessarily even signings, just some noise around the club.

Thinking that this 3 day weekend will just be a complete break, but after that it's the 1st September, United are back in training the next day (i think) - I expect Something to come out towards the end of next week

It's not bizarre, we did the exact same thing under LVG and Jose. Standard Glazer and Woodward behavior.

I wonder if United actually have scouts working for them? If so, it must be a depressing job knowing nothing will come of your work!

This is a disgrace that we don’t even discuss any potential transfers with other clubs (let alone execute them). For a club of our stature, it’s unacceptable.

We are using the covid excuse whilst other teams go and spend money. The funny thing is we were briefed that United have the finances to take advantage of Covid :lol:

Looks like we are the most affected club by covid now.

Prior to Covid, we were not going to finish top 4, had Sanchez and co on wage book.

Since Covid, we have got top 4 (£80m) reportedly, got rid of £55m worth of wages, maybe selling Sanchez and yet we cannot afford transfers.

So far, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal have all strengthened their teams and we are trying to get BVB to reduce their price.
