World Cup Betting Thread

This could be a massive failure but there's been ten 1-1 & 2-1 results combined thus far and all tomorrows games will be relatively close and low scoring in my opinion

F*ck :( USA were seconds away from saving this and winning me £85...

Anyone betting on possession tomorrow? Spain to have over 59% possession @ 1.90

Explain to me possession betting. I understand it, how do people find it

Marathonbet offer possession markets along with many other 'niche' markets, I think they use the stats from the official FIFA website.

£500 up since the start of the WC. There is good money to be had.

Tomorrow's games.

All over 2.5 goals.

£20 returns £180 on Betvictor.

Typical that the day I start playing sensible and only put a £1 on the treble of Belgium, Algeria and USA-Portugal draw  Still 24/1 is excellent and I'll take it.

Had Algeria to win + BTTS today at 11/2. Chuffed with that.
Also had BTTS and over 2.5 goals in the USA-Portugal day. £70 up on the first day of careful betting. Tidy.

@unitedbhoy You seemed to make a killing today on those statistics. I'm not on Marathonbet but I've been tempted by them for a while. Seem like good markets. As a matter of interest, which bets will you be on tomorrow?

Got another £5 freebie so decided to go with a 9-game accumulator again:

Brazil -1
Spain
Croatia or draw
Ivory Coast or draw
Colombia or draw
England
France
Ghana or draw
Argentina

I know it's far fetched but since it's free there is no harm.

Odds?

This one should be safe for whoever wants to play:

Brazil to beat Cameroon
Spain to beat Australia
England to win or draw versus Costa Rica
Ivory Coast to win or draw versus Greece
France to win or draw versus Ecuador

2/1 odds on that accumulator. If that's not a winning bet then I don't know what is.

Where are the possession odds on Marathonbet? Can't see them for the Spain-Australia game on mobile.

You do have England there. :nervous:

And this Spanish side has serious motivational and organisational issues so I wouldn't rely on them to win at all. Australia are already out and have already done their country proud but to be able to say they beat the World and Euro Champions in a WC game is enough to get them put in an extra 10% for this game.

I look it a bit different. Spain will do as much as it can to at least a bit forget about first two embarrassments. And Australia did really well, indeed, and have to be proud for that, but I also feel that might've took some toll on them, and won't show similar performance today.

No Tim Cahill either for Australia. Suspended.

Had £150 on Belgium and had a treble on Belgium, Algeria and over 2.5 goals in the USA game so great day, However I also had a treble on Belgium, Algeria and USA, Heartbreaking losing a bet in injury time :(

It's there, "Total Possession %", below total fouls, total offsides per team.

EDIT: Ah, mobile? Nevermind, no idea if they show up there.

I think they should win and I hadn't realised Cahill was out, I just don't think you can look at Spain as a safe bet at all despite the quality they possess. If they shake the team up completely for the game then maybe.

Would never bother with FGS, scorecast, wincast, castoff, castaway etc. bets but was given a £5 free bet from 888sports so stuck it on Scorecast of = Robben + 1:1 @40/1. Thought those odds were pretty high.

£5 on USA to win WC @130/1
£25 on USA to get eliminated in QF @ 8/1

USA will most likely play Belgium next round, then Argentina in 1/4s

You can never be sure with teams who have nothing left to play for to be honest. They might up their game in order to prove their worth or crumble completely and complete the disaster. For Australia beating Spain would be a huge deal, for Spain winning this game wouldn't even save their face - they're lost cause already.

With my bet I was hoping for quality of players getting the best of the opposition. It's not unthinkable that Australia will embrace the occasion more though.

Like the look of these possession bets, does anyone know which source they settle the bet from - FIFA website?

Fancy Chile @ 17/10, don't think either side will want to face Brazil and although both sides defence isn't the best, Holland don't have RVP to take advantage and could be a blow for them.

Going to have a small play on BTTS + Chile win @ 7/2 as well.

Spain O57.5% / Goal before 15' Chile-Netherlands / O1.5 2nd half Croatia-Mexico @14.28

Took this last night, Spain's lineup not great for possession though.

After seeing that Spain lineup, I'm jumping ship on the possession. Can noe get Aussies over 39% possession. Going to cover my stake and add another £25 to win. So Spain under 61% @ 1.90 - £55 to win £50

Took Spain to win big, but now I don't even know why. Silly silly. Now have to cheer them, even though I hate them (well, really not like'em at least).

I put £20 on Spain to have over 9 attempts on target, returns £34.4. Quite an attacking line up, so hopefully it will come off.

Remember Cahill isnt playing @unitedbhoy, that may impact the possession markets...

Cahill would really stay up top anyway, I'm not sure how much of a factor he would play in keeping the ball.

Spain can't be familiar at all with 2 out and out strikers and this will probably disrupt their possession, tiki taka play. I think 61% is just far too much, especially considering how well the Aussies have done so far. They had 48% poss agains Netherlands, however only had 38% against Chile but I think the latter was mainly down to their piss poor first half

As someone mentioned before, Australia will want this one more. Wouldn't surprise me if they won it to be honest.

I actually really like this possession play with Australia now, may stick more on.

Interesting. It really all comes down to how Spain adjust to this line up change. I do think they will create more chances, although I think this will be down to them being more direct and getting the ball forward quicker, which will hopefully lead in less possession.

Good luck with the bet. May take it in play if the game is going how I think.

Yeah good point re Spain's midfield. Cahill was a massive outlet for the Aussies in terms of holding the ball up though.

Adding a red card in the game 5/1 as well. Ref seems a bit red card happy.
