Tell the world. Tell this to everybody, wherever they are. Watch the space everywhere. Keep looking. Keep watching the space.

This is turning into shambles again. With only days left till the start of the season LVG will have to work wonders for us to get back into the top 4 with our current squad. At first we were told our business will be concluded early this time around and then Woodward comes out with 'watch this space' and again nothing happens. It's really disconcerting how slow Woodward seems to work. It took him basically a year to get the Shaw and Herrera deals done which has been followed by no one. We desperately need to get back in the top4 this season and should be throwing everything at it.

I try to rationalise why we're so slow in the market and struggle to find many reasons. We have the resources to conclude deals for players we want.

So we should just put up with transfer window failure after failure after failure because we can't categorically prove who is to blame.

That's not what i said, but there're other people involved in the decision making, like van gaal and the glazers, they pay the money and i'm sure if a club wants x amount of money for a player, eventually it's up to the glazers to sanction that deal or not, it's their money. It also depends on the availability of our targets, it's not as easy as asking van gaal to make a list, if he wants unattainable targets like hummels for example, it won't happen. In the case of vidal it could be true that we're worried about his knee, we just don't know the truth about anything here. Admittedly it's not looking good and we're late, but we can't simply assume that it's all woody's fault and he should be sacked for it, what if the galzers to don't want to spend much more? we can't sack them can we?

We're in that difficult position where we require players of the same quality that are at teams like Madrid and Barca. There are only a select few of this level and we're competing with warm weather and tax breaks for their signatures.

The only thing I've read that makes sense claims that van Gaal was never going to make transfer decisions before this last friendly, and that we've just begun the process having identified what we need.

This could fit with the idea van Gaal is an idealist who wouldn't worry about only have about two weeks to get the deals done. Perhaps it can all come together that quickly, if we've already identified targets ahead of time for possible needs.

I'd like to ask some of the Woodward apologists what will it take to convince you he should be sacked?
Wierd question. Dropping the hand in the office or something?

Not sure why people are so determined that sacking will be the one and only end point of his tenure.

Sooooooo, to sum up.....

Giggs, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Buttner - Out
Shaw, Herrera - In

Anderson, Nani, Hernandez and Zaha - Most probably sold or on loan
And looks like no one coming in, so far.

Oh and Shaw is injured.

If this was any other club, we'd be pissing ourselves laughing.

I'd be amazed if that was the case. Transfers take a lot of time to set up and I seriously doubt we'd be stupid enough to do absolutely nothing up to this point. Or at least I hope we're not that stupid.

I would imagine we were working away on deals in the background the whole time regardless of what LvG said. These deals could then be finalized (or not) once he had made his decisions. The bid for Vermaelen pretty much confirms that at least some work was ongoing as the reports of terms being agreed with him came out weeks ago.

I genuinely thought after the mess of last summer the club would be working overtime to ensure nothing like that happened ever again and yet here we are 12 months on and it's all looking worryingly familiar. The opening game is on Saturday and the squad is an unbalanced mess. Another 1 or 2 injuries in defence or midfield and we're in full on crisis mode already.

That "watch this space" interview looks more and more idiotic every day. If we get to September and we've signed nobody else Woodward should be sacked but he won't be because of the amount of money he helps the Glazers make. Official noodle partners and all that rubbish.

Van Gaal has been great so far and I've no doubt we'll be much better this season but if the squad stays the same as it is now we're in for a real struggle finishing in the top 4.

Woodward has claimed money is available and the club will back the manager in the transfer market. He's also claimed United are prepared to break world records if need be "watch this space etc" If you're willing to break records then no player is unattainable and I struggle to see how someone like Vermaelen was difficult to sign. Woodward sat twiddling his thumbs and by the time Barca have completed deals for Suarez/Mathieu/Rakitic/Bravo and missed out on primary CB targets they turned to Vermaelen who should have been a United player weeks ago.

I can understand the clubs reluctance to make a record move for Vidal with his knee situation and maybe LVG would rather wait until January and see how he's performing along with Strootman then make a move, but there's absolutely no excuse for us to have not signed a new CB by this stage.

The sad thing for Woodward now is that it doesn't matter what he does, people will find the negative in it.

If he pays what it takes to sign a top player he'll be accused of overpaying again and say there was no skill in the negotiation.

If Blind and Rojos are Van Gaal's targets and Woodward signs them, Woodward will take the rap for them being underwhelming.

If we signed Vidal and Di Maria for very reasonable prices it'll be because both clubs wanted to sell and in no way down to his negotiations.

He presided over last years shambles, and then this summer after giving a needless interview boasting about how much money we've got it's all gone quiet and we're left with a mess of a squad with the season less than 3 days away.

If he turns things around before the window closes then fair enough, but you must be able to see why so many aren't giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's not given us much reason to trust him.

Nah, if he delivers he's okay. He simply yet to deliver in arguably the club's most important transfer window ever, all this after he'd made claims of unprecedented spending and urged us to watch the space. He could still deliver, and I remain patient, but this isn't a lose-lose situation for Woodward. He can still come out the other side with plaudits.

If we don't sign anyone else surely Scumbag Ed will be a new caf meme.

Maybe i should have said "follows its own logic" rather than "makes sense."

Call me crazy but as much as I understand Van Gaal likes to promote youth players and isn't fussed on signing big names, I'm pretty sure he's also the kind of bloke who will get severely pissed off with sheer incompetence if that's what Ed demonstrating behind the scenes.

I would have argued this in favour of Woodward, BUT, LVG came out directly and said the squad was unbalanced. I'm not sure whether the players we wanted are still available or whether they've moved on, but it's pretty obvious that LVG wanted at least some other additions and I agree he wont stand for the incompetence of others if it makes himself look bad.

Patience is dwindling in here, understandable. If Woody doesn't sign 2 more players it's been a poor window. Any other club that finished 7th with a new manager would be making big changes. If we don't get champions league football, it will be an even harder window next Summer. We have heard all the big talk from Ed and seen very little. Shaw and Herrera were quality signings but we still are short at the moment. The season hasn't even started and Shaw and Carrick are injured. We need to break the fecking bank for Vidal imo, if you want to topple City, Chelsea, Liverpool away from home Herrera and Fletch can't do it. We need energy and bite in midfield again, Herrera with Vidal would make us a force again imo. The fans need something to get excited about. Look at the lift Ozil gave Arseanl fans last season, he had an average season too.
I like Fletcher and he had a good pre season but lets be realistic? He's a squad player and not the answer to our midfield problem. I'm getting nervous, I really hope LVG gets to bring in his own players. Shaw and Herrera got the green light but them deals were in place before he came. LVG has raised the level of our football again but Woody needs to help him. If the Glazers really want the club back competing, it's time to flash the fecking cash. No more excuses, show last summer was a one off. Buy Blind, Di Maria, Vidal and Rojo. Show the fecking rest of the league we mean business. LVG has done fantastic and he will get the best out of the team. Really hope we bring in some signings soon. Woody get moving you cnut, time is running out:mad:

Mr Woodward cannot survive the shit storm that will come his way if we don't sign at least two decent players by the the deadline. By being as transparent as he was in the interview he has created a rod for his own back and he has to deliver - if not he will be hounded out of the job.

This is the big issue for me, We have the ability to quite literally go out and buy pretty much any player on the planet if we so wanted, barring the absolute untouchables. And in the cases a deal falls through, there are tons of other targets to move for. There are feck all excuses. as long as the manager has asked for new players we should be able to get them its almost that simple.

Things is we are not even competing with them. We don't have even the balls for that - I guess we know we are no match for the glamour and money they offer.

We don't even need to compete with them right now though. There are players that are top draw and not on their radar as they are so fecking stacked with talent. I don't think more than 3 or 4 players from our squad would get into either of theirs. Probably only DOG would make their first 11s.

Light years ahead. Cannot seen any scenario where we catch them in next five years.

Bayern has a different model and has been successful recently.

Well we'll know in a couple of weeks where Ed stands. If LVG isn't happy with the way Ed's been dealing he'll let everyone know about it. He's a straight talker and isn't afraid to mince his words.

Ribery, Robben, Martinez, Boateng, Rafinhia, Thiago, shaqiri and bernart arent from the german league.
Only Neuer, Dante, Rode Lewandowski and Götze are from other german clubs. Every club in the world could have snatched dante and the latter three didnt have any significant impact yet.
United bought far more player from EPL clubs (RvP, Rooney, Mata, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Shaw, Valencia, Zaha, Young, Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini)
