90% of teams play better football than us
Tell the world. Tell this to everybody, wherever they are. Watch the space everywhere. Keep looking. Keep watching the space.
So we should just put up with transfer window failure after failure after failure because we can't categorically prove who is to blame.
I try to rationalise why we're so slow in the market and struggle to find many reasons. We have the resources to conclude deals for players we want.
Wierd question. Dropping the hand in the office or something?I'd like to ask some of the Woodward apologists what will it take to convince you he should be sacked?
The only thing I've read that makes sense claims that van Gaal was never going to make transfer decisions before this last friendly, and that we've just begun the process having identified what we need.
This could fit with the idea van Gaal is an idealist who wouldn't worry about only have about two weeks to get the deals done. Perhaps it can all come together that quickly, if we've already identified targets ahead of time for possible needs.
That's not what i said, but there're other people involved in the decision making, like van gaal and the glazers, they pay the money and i'm sure if a club wants x amount of money for a player, eventually it's up to the glazers to sanction that deal or not, it's their money. It also depends on the availability of our targets, it's not as easy as asking van gaal to make a list, if he wants unattainable targets like hummels for example, it won't happen. In the case of vidal it could be true that we're worried about his knee, we just don't know the truth about anything here. Admittedly it's not looking good and we're late, but we can't simply assume that it's all woody's fault and he should be sacked for it, what if the galzers to don't want to spend much more? we can't sack them can we?
The sad thing for Woodward now is that it doesn't matter what he does, people will find the negative in it.
If he pays what it takes to sign a top player he'll be accused of overpaying again and say there was no skill in the negotiation.
If Blind and Rojos are Van Gaal's targets and Woodward signs them, Woodward will take the rap for them being underwhelming.
If we signed Vidal and Di Maria for very reasonable prices it'll be because both clubs wanted to sell and in no way down to his negotiations.
Nah, if he delivers he's okay. He simply yet to deliver in arguably the club's most important transfer window ever, all this after he'd made claims of unprecedented spending and urged us to watch the space. He could still deliver, and I remain patient, but this isn't a lose-lose situation for Woodward. He can still come out the other side with plaudits. The sad thing for Woodward now is that it doesn't matter what he does, people will find the negative in it.

I'd be amazed if that was the case. Transfers take a lot of time to set up and I seriously doubt we'd be stupid enough to do absolutely nothing up to this point. Or at least I hope we're not that stupid.
I would imagine we were working away on deals in the background the whole time regardless of what LvG said. These deals could then be finalized (or not) once he had made his decisions. The bid for Vermaelen pretty much confirms that at least some work was ongoing as the reports of terms being agreed with him came out weeks ago.
Maybe i should have said "follows its own logic" rather than "makes sense."I'd be amazed if that was the case. Transfers take a lot of time to set up and I seriously doubt we'd be stupid enough to do absolutely nothing up to this point. Or at least I hope we're not that stupid.

Call me crazy but as much as I understand Van Gaal likes to promote youth players and isn't fussed on signing big names, I'm pretty sure he's also the kind of bloke who will get severely pissed off with sheer incompetence if that's what Ed demonstrating behind the scenes.
Or in the unlikely event of us signing Vidal and Di Maria:If we don't sign anyone else surely Scumbag Ed will be a new caf meme.

Just woke up and saw this.Or in the unlikely event of us signing Vidal and Di Maria:
This is the big issue for me, We have the ability to quite literally go out and buy pretty much any player on the planet if we so wanted, barring the absolute untouchables. And in the cases a deal falls through, there are tons of other targets to move for. There are feck all excuses. as long as the manager has asked for new players we should be able to get them its almost that simple.I try to rationalise why we're so slow in the market and struggle to find many reasons. We're in that difficult position where we require players of the same quality that are at teams like Madrid and Barca. There are only a select few of this level and we're competing with warm weather and tax breaks for their signatures.
Things is we are not even competing with them. We don't have even the balls for that - I guess we know we are no match for the glamour and money they offer.
We don't even need to compete with them right now though. There are players that are top draw and not on their radar as they are so fecking stacked with talent. I don't think more than 3 or 4 players from our squad would get into either of theirs. Probably only DOG would make their first 11s.
Light years ahead. Cannot seen any scenario where we catch them in next five years.
Bayern has a different model and has been successful recently.
