He strikes me as someone who wants to bring in superstars and have his own Galactico policy at the club

Let's hope the Glazers give him the funds to be able to do just that.

Exactly. We all know last summer was a complete disaster but Woodward would surely have learned from it.

And he did. He made sure he didn't have dithering Dave's depressing decisiveness this year.

Amazing how far he has come in a year, this time last year he was slated by the fans but now seems to have earned their respect.

Hopefully he means business judging from that interview there I reckon he is. Exciting times :D

He was extremely confident during the whole interview and the way he ended it makes me confident about our prospects to sign the best players. He could have gone with more soft statements but he was very bold. With things like "United can do things in the transfer market that others can't", you've got to be very confident. He could have just said something along the line of if the right player comes along or something like that.

Proof of the pudding is in the eating boys.

True. Everyone remember 'urgent transfer business' last year?

Honestly, I'm not too fussed about transfers. If Van Gaal feels he's a good enough coach to bring some of our youngsters and under performers on then fine. If Brenton can turn Henderson into an effective Premier League midfield player Van Gaal should be able to do something with our lot.

However, I'm sceptical about the big man talk from Woodward. It all sounds good but actions speak louder than words AND I don't want us buying someone e.g. Cavani just so Woodward can prove something. If we're active in the market lets make sure the players we get fit Van Gaal's plans/philosophy.

He seemed much more easy going than Gill ever was in his interviews. Though Gill achieved success through quiet business, Woody is risking looking a fool again with his quotes but I have faith.
I guess Gill's job was always made a lot easier by having the massive draw of SAF's name pulling players in. We'll never know how well Woody could have done if he'd been in charge while SAF was still here.

He's confident because he's wrapped up the Vidal deal, which he knows the fans will absolutely love

Ed's a fecking boss. I knew it the moment I saw that picture of him.
I like the way you think

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Eh. I don't see how his quotes are different from anything he or Gill has said in the past. It's always the same "we have no set budget", "we want the best players", "have a warchest" etc. etc.

I thought he'd be wearing a full on suit and in business mode; but he's totally relaxed, jeans and a t-shirt.

He has certainly surprised me with this interview.

Yeah, I am not too comfortable with big talks unless of course he already is under complete control of the said transfers being done. People will always be looking for stories but that doesn't mean you build up their expectations like you have a responsibility to do so. Time will tell and Woody has been good so far this summer. Let's hope he lives upto his own hype.

I like his ambition but i am not sure that this kind of declarations are wise. Unless he is trying to explain to everybody that his Manchester United will compete with Real Madrid on all the fronts.

I'm completely agree, money shouldn't be a problem with us it's getting the players to come to Manchester

Always rated this Woodward. Not once did I call him a baldy incompetent amateur...

As well as learning from his and the Club's mistakes of last summer, we're coming off the back of our worst season in 24 years.

Woodward will be full aware of the consequences of another repeat of that, so hopefully he can get this business done.

The appointment of van Gaal, the signings of Herrera and Shaw...we've made an excellent start to this summer. Now we've got to put the finishing touches to it and we're good to go.

A list players want to come here.

or do they say they do to get bigger contracts where they are!

Well he's hyping the pressure on himself. As these words are similar to last year at the moment....only difference is not making public which players
Wrong, the other difference is that we've already spent a shitload though we still need to plug a few more holes in the side. That Pat will not be going walkabout during counters or that Cleverley is no longer a default starter is progress.

I hope the opposite. I hate signing superstars.... I want United to be United and not RM, City, or Barca.... We will still win the league with great players and a good manager. Just you wait! :)

Best line I have read hahaha... You are the genius perhaps :)

Wait, what have I missed? Can anyone save me having to trawl back through the thread?

Ed has said that we have money and we're looking to bring in players. He also teased with "watch this space".
