100 million spent on our midfield in 3 transfer windows versus nothing for the previous six years and some people want Gill over Woodward.

JOKEr was a year late to conclude the transfer. Not funny enough?

So he can actually complete deals (and really complicated ones in mata and herrera). Maked you wonder, was moyes' s dithering the main issue from last summer?

I am totally convinced, that despite his gargoyle looks, Moyes is a bottler.

Last summer was a disaster but sacking Moyes, buying Mata, and now signing Herrera - Well done Ed.

In fairness, we paid the buyout clause and the lawyers did the rest. He has yet to prove himself.

In fairness, what else does he then do with any other transfer for that matter? Then we might as well not praise/bollock him for transfers happening/not happening.

Nonsense.

This has been handled by the club in general impeccably. No dramas, not even any real speculation in the press - they have seemingly learned from last year.

People love to criticise but are less keen to give credit where it is due.

Last summer was a shambles, but if things proceed like this over this summer then he should be judged on that. It's an encouraging start.

Yes, but he put the money down and signed the guy, didn't feck around. Do you think Gill would have signed him? Not in a million years. Also managed to keep it a secret, not even the know all journalists knew about it. That's an A in my book.

He hasn't exactly demonstrated his wily negotiating prowess on this one. We have yet to see that.

I have not suggested otherwise. Keep up!

If LvG asked for him, then yes.

He has made smart moves though. Kept all quiet on this deal and moved in for the kill without hesitation when he needed to. On the Mata deal he knew he couldn't negotiate 1 on 1 with Chelsea (since they wanted Rooney and would've brought it up) so he sent the intermediary and paid what was asked to not drag it out.

Hopefully he has learned. Don't get me wrong, I hope me have the right man doing the job. I will be the first to rate him.

I don't think he would. We missed a lot of targets because we didn't want to pay the extra few millions during Gills time here. We basically assigned a value for teh player and usually didn't go over it.

I'm not saying he was a bad chairman, ofc, just that it seems that Woodward has a different approach. Let's see how it works out.

I reckon Ferguson was the man that wanted "value", more so than Gill. But, to be fair, who knows?

I told you guys, Woodward is the man, he's the real deal. I always knew he would come good .

If you're not taking the piss you're definitely talking shite mate.

In, out, no fecking about. Deal done. Desrves credit. Mata was the same.

I think you are missing my point, but there again, I don't think you are, possibly just ignoring it. I am not talking about the in/out part. I am very happy with the in/out and quiet approach.

I wonder if those that are determined to blame Woodward for everything negative will give him credit now. Both Mata and Herrera signed with minimal fuss. FFS, on Monday we had no idea we were even still interested in him.

We just signed a class midfielder for £30m+ with less than 4 days of speculation. Get in Woody.

Now for Shaw, Hummels, de Jong and Sanchez

What's your problem then? Credit where it's due instesd of ifs, buts and maybes and adding disclaimers. It's a good deal, done well.

This.

Speaking of Woodward, he is obviously not in Manchester since it was sir Bobby posing with Herrera today.. Doing business elsewhere? ;)
