This is clearly Woodwards fault.

Read about the Martinez transfer.
Clearly it is if it falls apart. Martinez's transfer is a warning for all clubs dealing with Bilbao, they don't negotiate and are arseholes to deal with. We shouldn't be bringing players to Carrington without the transfer being finalized.

you'd bloody think they learned from last summer with this wouldnt you?

eitherway, it still will be done, no way Woodward will allow himself to be embarrassed like that again, through €40million is insane money for such an unproven player.
erm, Herrera's not an unproven player.

Woodward or Herrera doesn't need Bilbao approval, if the reports stating that Herrera deposit the money to the LFP are true, it's an unilateral breaking of the contract and it's seems that it's what we are witnessing.

We go from he's too expensive not as good as we need to panic and gleeful cries of incompetence on social media when we think it might not happen

I might have to put Smallred on ignore just so I can make this thread vanish. Getting fed up with caftards constantly whining about Ed, it's getting pathetic now.

You seem to be unable or unwilling to listen to what is actually going on, just so you can bombard the caf with endless 'Its all Woodwards fault, he's shit' blah, blah blah.

Give it a rest mate.

Athletico rejected the bid earlier in the week, not today. United had obviously planned for this as Herrera has already handed the paperwork into the spanish league offices, there may or may not be a problem with that paperwork, but it everything is in place.

I just can't see how you can blame the guy for Bilbao acting like there doing today, how has he any control over that?

It's very boring now isn't it. Logic out the window in favour of a little dig at Woodward.

When things come to light, then you should make your views clear and not jump to conclusions.
Jumping to conclusions is a stretch. Bilbaos official site posted they rejected our bid. It's probably pandering to their fans, but who knows? If the transfer fails however, the hierarchy (Woodward in particular) will look incredibly foolish.

You're making yourself look foolish now though.

And do you think that the transfer will fail considering that Herrera did a medical, sent the documents with the payment to Spanish FA and arrived on Carrington?

I'm not taking anything for granted. Bilbao are not like any other club.

Not as foolish as naming myself after a United player, that's just embarrassing.

Everybody knows that. United made the offer to them last week (likely just for the sake of formality) and only after we did the paperwork with Herrera, we heard the news that we are going to sign him. It looks to me that we were expecting this all way long and have been prepared for this.

My name is Adnan, you made a fool of yourself again, keep it up.

I hope the fact Bilbao have publicly rejected the offer doesn't really have the sort of significance I'm giving it...

You were the first person in here this morning as soon as the news broke and hammered the Herrera thread for 2 hours with nothing other than blaming Woodward for everything, even though everyone tried to explain it to you. Skysports, BBC, Ballbag and various other outlets explained what was going on in relation to this transfer within half and hour.

If this transfer fails, I think it is safe to say that United won't be the ones to blame in this instance. ATHLETIC will come out of this very badly in my opinion.

You on the other hand seem only to care about criticising Woodward for everything, regardless of the fact he has absolutely no power over other clubs press releases, twitter feeds and general behaviour.

They probably have, which is why they haven't done it on the last day of the transfer window so they have time to deal with the legal side of it. Last year we made a bid that was rejected, and didn't want to pay the clause. This year, we made a bid that was rejected, presumably to give Bilbao the option to accept or not, and then when they rejected we went down the contract breach route, knowing we have time to sort out the legals.

Does nobody remember the Bayern - Martinez transfer, and how lenghty that was? It clearly isn't a simple process and we're seemingly doing it right. What's the issue?

We have to congratulate Woodward for both this and the Mata deals. He came through, deals were only leaked a couple of days before they actually happened and there was no media circus.

Lay off him nao ?

We did in 3 days what Bayern took 1 month to complete.

And we did that without any press leaks too. No media outlet had a clue till recently.
