If found guilty would he be likely to serve prison time?
Nevada has VERY punitive sentences, it categorizes any sexual assault as a Category A Felony that can attract the death penalty, or life imprisonment. If a perpetrator is adjudged to have caused serious bodily harm then that is without parole. If serious bodily harm is not proved then may be eligible for parole after 10 or 15 years. He picked the wrong state to do that in!If found guilty would he be likely to serve prison time?
Some shocking posts in this thread.

The usual approach in US however if he was to decide not to fight it would be to plea-bargain down to a lesser charge, but that would still be something like a serious sexual assault. He would have to get it bargained down to just a physical assault that would be a category B Felony - (sentence from 8 to 20 Years )
In 2005 case the rumours were that he was targeted by two women who specialised in "Kiss and Tell" who tried to get him to pay up - he refused so they went to Police and claimed rape. The case was subsequently dropped by CPS with no reason given. There were rumours of a pay-off but no-one ever commented officially.
With regards to 2005 case I have no idea if any of the rumours were true or just victim blaming, but I wonder if Cristiano would be prepared to fight in court if things like this might get brought up again.
Always thought Ronaldo was clean despite flitting from one woman to another (nothing wrong if consensual). If this is true, quite an ugly side to his character.
Again, assuming this is true -- I find it difficult to understand why he would do such a thing. He has fame, looks, money and can probably summon 10 girls to his bed with a snap of his fingers, so what really goes on in the minds of these famous types to commit crimes they could have so easily avoided?
Given Nevada currently has a statute of limitations of just 4 years then yes that would be the only option left now.Don't they want to go after him in the civil courts?

Would be interesting if pressure started to build to change that statute as more and more cases of "historic" abuse come out.

- Category A felony and shall be punished:
- If substantial bodily harm to the victim results from the actions of the defendant committed in connection with or as a part of the sexual assault, by imprisonment in the state prison:
- For life without the possibility of parole; or
- For life with the possibility of parole after a minimum of 15 years has been served.
- If no substantial bodily harm to the victim results, by imprisonment for life with the possibility of parole after a minimum of 10 years has been served.

The info on sentencing was to highlight what Ronaldo would have been looking at if it had gone to trial at the time and he lost.

The implication is I think that this story has come out through hacked files that Der Spiegel has got hold of.Again, why did she wait 9 years?
Probably thought NDA was a good agreement at the time but now after 9 years with no money left from that she has realized it actually wasn't?
In the USA different states have different criminal statute of limitations for different crimes - Murder In Nevada has no statute of limitationsSo, In Nevada if you murder someone and don't get caught for 4 years then you can never be prosecuted for it?

She is querying that if the files are out there then is she no longer bound by the NDA / the terms of the NDA have been breached. Non disclosure is a 2 way street and if they have leaked it or been breached they have failed to act within the NDA.
So, In Nevada if you murder someone and don't get caught for 4 years then you can never be prosecuted for it?

There is no statute of limitations for murder in NV. For other non-capital offense violations its 4 years.
So IF he indeed was guilty then the only risk for him would be to lose a civil trial where he would have to pay up a compensation OJ v Goldman style?

From what I've read and happy to be pointed out wrong, but the key evidence that it could be true is this questionnaire allegedly completed by Ronaldo and that says "She said no multiple times". Which was then removed on a later questionnaire?
I just find it completely bizarre/stupid that someone who is being accused of rape would say that ?
It was probably wrong move by her to sign the NDA and settle. She would have got way more than $375k in court too if he were found guilty but she might have also been advised by the lawyers to take the deal as Ronaldo would have armed himself with top lawyers who might have got him out of trouble.
That appears to be the pivotal document - if it's accurate, then it appears to be an admission of guilt. However, even if the document existed in that form at some point, an error of attribution/transcription or even translation is also a possibility. If the question was framed as, "she says she said no and stop several times," and that got merged/mangled into an answer of, "he said she said no and stop several times," then it's still an accusation rather than an admission.
I've read (posts by internet randoms) that the statute of limitations for a criminal conviction may not apply in this case because the alleged victim submitted an official report/statement with the police at the time of the incident. However, it sounds like she didn't name Ronaldo in the initial report so that may be another layer of complexity.
Any ideas? But no guesses disguised as fact please.
In the past several weeks, the police have spoken with Kathryn Mayorga on several occasions and questioned her again. The Nevada criminal code includes the following statute: If a sexual assault has been documented by the police in time, it will never fall under the statute of limitations.
Though I'm not sure to what extent that refers to their civil damages action rather than a police prosecution.Any time limitations related to the claim of sexual assault was removed by the reporting of the crime; and

That's the other part of the case and what the documents filed requesting the rescinding of the NDA and settlement are about. Her current lawyers say her last lawyer was inexperienced and the woman wasn't in any fit psychological state to sign the deal.
I never quite get the 'why didn't they report it/sue immediately' argument. Massive trauma does different things to different people. A lot of child abuse victims seem to only finally face their abuser in adulthood after having a breakdown in adulthood.Always thought Ronaldo was clean despite flitting from one woman to another (nothing wrong if consensual). I was under the impression that the statute of limitations for sexual assault in Nevada was increased from four to twenty years in the aftermath of the Crosby allegations.

apologies if already posted had a quick glance and couldn't see it
Anyone have a tldw?
Thank youMayorga claims Ronaldo raped her in 2009. She went to the hospital and filed a report shorty after the incident but was advised by her then lawyer to sign an NDA in exchange for money. She has since changed her mind and has filed a civil suit and is asking for 200k and wants the criminal case by LVPD reopened. Ronaldo claims its fake news and has instructed his team of lawyers to sue Der Spiegel for publishing "blatantly illegal" information.
Thank you
