Wimbledon 2015

Federer's been a bit crap today, broken for the first time this tournament while serving for the second set.

These first two match-ups are boring. Hopefully they finish in straight sets so we can get to the real contests.

I get they like to play outside, but why wouldn't they just put the roof on Center court on the first rain break when the weather is clearly all over the place?

The great man through to the semi finals.

Magnificent performance. Whatever happens in the next round he's playing at a fantastic standard for an almost 34 year old.

How good was Federer there? wonderful performance against a tough opponent, didn't fancy him to beat Murray before tournament started but he's playing better and I reckon he'll get to the final again on Sunday

My take on the expected semi of Federer vs Murray:

1. Expect Murray to win despite Federer's form and particularly the brilliant form of his serve. I'm just not sure Federer still has what it takes to win these huge matches against the top players over 5 sets in a slam, particularly since it usually takes 4+ sets and that's where maybe his age shows. Basically, whether federer can keep his unforced errors down.

2. Three other aspects that will be key.

Firstly, federer keeping up his serving form which has been pretty amazing.

Secondly, whether Murray can exploit Federer coming to the net more these days, as his passing has been top notch.

Finally, whether federer can exploit Murray's second serve.

The umpire is taking the absolute piss here. What an utter cnut.

Twice he's done that at crucial serving points for Pospisil.

Yeah feel sorry for him. He was under huge pressure both timed and the umpire added to it.

Wawrinka vs Gausquet should be a cracker. Wawrinka for me is in the sort of form where I might just expect him to beat any of the top players rather than be shocked or hugely surprised by it. When it comes off no one can do anything about his big hitting. And gasquet has also been excellent in this tournament.

There's absolutely no way he'd have done that if it was Rafa/Novak etc etc

Really poor call.
I'm not sure about the rules but surely a bit of common sense? Even the multiple grandslam winners would be put off by that forget this guy who isn't use to this stage and in a tough moment. And doesn't nadal notorious for taking absolute ages between points?

Exactly. They'd just come off a pretty long rally too I think.

I fecking hate the modern day need for directors and commentators of whatever sport to insist on pointing out fecking celebrities in attendance. Who gives a flying feck? It's like saying, "Well, our sport is shite, so here are some faces off the TV to keep you interested instead". It's fecking dangerously close to ruining boxing for me.

Yeah he was huffing and puffing. Came across as really cnutish to me from the umpire. Got booed by a crowd that wasn't even favouriting that player.

Vijay Amritraj - "there's Bradley Cooper. A truly great actor. He was in silver linings playbook and American Sniper."

5 minutes later - "Of course he doesn't have an Oscar but federer has 7 wimbledons."

Faced one break point all match? Liking it.

Federer is by all accounts in great nick so the semi should be a cracker. Murray-Federer matches are always a lovely contrast of styles.

If Andy returns well then I fancy him.

 three in the whole tournament btw.

Yep. Just about think Murray will do it but he'll have to play very well with Federer going the way he is.

Ah, I was talking about Andy. Roger only faced one all match, too? Three all tournament is outrageous if true!
Yeah. Hadn't lost his serve in 116 service games before today.

Anyway should be a great semi final. I fancy Murray. Probably the worst opponent for federer to face at Wimbledon right now.

Toss of a coin, I reckon. Murray has to hammer at Federer's second serve like he's done in the past if he's to win.

Federer will probably target Murray's even more as it's the weaker one.

Gasquet is on fire right now. Having a terrific tournament

An unfulfilled talent. Nadal and Gasquet broke through around the same time and both were rated very highly. Their careers have taken incredibly differing paths.
He has such a wonderful game when on song. Attacking too. Kind of player I love watching. Shame.

Remember these two playing a cracker in the French Open a couple of years ago.

Both very talented shot makers that hadn't fulfilled their potential but Wawrinka's kicked on since then and won a couple of slams.
