Wimbledon 2015

Serena is just too good. Sharapova just didn't make it competitive. The Spanish girl will probably get beat in the final but there's still something to take from the Watson and Azarenka matches.

Playing against Serena is like playing against a man. Sharapova just looked like a little girl in comparison

Provided that Muguruza copes with the occasion, could she prove to be an awkward customer for Williams?

Thinking back over recent years, Serena has lost to the likes of Bartoli and Lisicki here at Wimbledon.

I wasn't impressed by her today. Expect serena to batter her.

Tomorrow's the big day. Nice that Djokovic Gasquet starts things and warms it up for Federer Murray.

The women filed has been so flat for so long... it seems ages ago when you had Hingis, Davenport, young William sisters, Capriati battling it out. You had the brief period where the two Belgians filled the vaccum left by Hingis and Davenport but ever since then it has just been dire and uninteresting to watch.

Yeah it's just really dead right now.

Justin Henin was my favourite to watch

On this day 14 years ago Goran won his first and only, long dreamed, Wimbledon title after that famous final vs Rafter. :)

even when we won the bronze medal in France I wasn't so emotional like I was when Rafter played that ball into the net. good times

Cilic just isn't capable of that. I know he's ours, but he's like a walking corpse. I have zero sympathy for him.

I have symphaty for him but he just doesnt have guts. Plays like a coward most of the time which is a shame.

he has.

btw, I wasn't trying to say he isn't capable of matching Goran's career, just that he can't make me feel anything for him. I've never seen something so gutless, quiet and boring like Cilic. I remember we were all posting here during that US open final and after he won, I couldn't even force myself to write a post about that. that's how little I care about him and I'm from Croatia.

predictions for today:

Federer will beat Murray 3-1 and Djokovic will easily win in straight sets.

Bet that Pentagruel dude was furiously jacking off to Sharapova losing that first game

I have a good wank every time Sharapova double faults of course. I was running out of ammo after the first game unfortunately. At any rate, it was a poor match by both players today, nothing compared to the Azarenka game.

It is a bit barren, I agree here. I believe the depth in the WTA is the highest it's ever been, but the top end players are not up to scratch. There's really nothing left outside of Serena. Of course, it is difficult to judge sometimes because Serena skews the field so badly. I believe she would have dominated any era and made it look non-competitive. I really wonder what the WTA will look like when she retires.

Čorić could be great though. :)

Didn't watch the women's semi-finals last night. Wanted to be well rested to watch the men as they will probably go late. Expect Novak to cruise past Gasquet. I am glad for Gasquet, but really Stan would have been the better SF match-up. Hard to predict the Fed-Murray match. I can see both arguments as to why each man will win; think I will go with Federer though. Murray will have to serve extremely well and I am not sure he can do that. Also doesn't help that Federer has strolled to the semis. If he had dropped a few sets on the way it might have been difficult.

Serena will win the women's final.

There's this Czech or Croat who was in the last 32 and Vijay Amritraj said was the real deal and a DEFINITE grandslam winner in the future. Any idea who he's talking about?

I believe the Spanish girl has beaten Serena before and she's presumably improving all the time. Maybe she can pull off the upset in the final if she can hold her nerve.

Expect Novak to win today but Fed-Murray should be interesting.

I'm going for Djokovic in an easy 3 and Murray in a relatively straightforward 4.

All that good work by Gasquet undone by a poor tie break. Djokovic's backhand has been fallible, but wins the set.

Gasquet played really well in the first set, but Djokovic has woken up. Some really nice moments in this game.

Gasquet's serve is what holds him back. He barely gets a free point off his first serve, and for an attack-minded player a strong first service is crucial.

Gasquet's forehand is his biggest weakness. Basically gifting points to Djokovic.

I don't know; he was winning about 80% of his second serves vs Wawrinka and in the first set today... His forehand is his biggest problem

Both I guess. You can probably get away with having one slight weakness out of forehand backhand and serve. His serve and forehand are both alright but susceptible to pressure. Glorious backhand but it doesn't make up for it.

Added to his relative lack of mobility as well.

But still, that backhand
