Makelele wasn't the quickest and he worked out alright. Depends on how we plan to use him.

He wasnt 1st choice at the WC. His game is to protect the back 4, but he's got serious potential to be a helluva lot more than that.
He's a beast of a young man & never dives into challenges, because he reads the play & easily shrugs off the opposition players, then makes the appropriate pass.
His range of passing is pretty good also, thats why i said he's got serious potential to be more than a back 4 protector.
I'd love us to sign him, but not as an alternative to Vidal - we need both!

Get rid of the rest of the rubbish now. Fellaini, Cleverley and Anderson need to go. Fletcher has been a great servant, but his time is up. We can't keep players for sentimental values.

This better fecking happen. I've said it before, but I feel as if we need his type of player than Vidal's. Even though I'm sure Vidal would improve us significantly more if he joined, in the long-term I think we'll benefit more from Carvalho. He'd give Herrera the licence to roam a bit more like Fabregas, and offer Mata or ADM (whoever plays in the three) to blast forward. Vidal isn't really a trademark DMF. He's an awesome box-to-box so he'd really be best in the Herrera role.

Either we renewed our interest or we are showing Juventus that we have targets other than Vidal since they are playing hardball.
I`ve only seen glimpses of Carvalho but plenty of Vidal and he is perfect for us. Many people also rate Carvalho highly and he is still developing as a player. One thing is certain - we need a signing in midfield.

Haven't seen him at all but it's reported by Independent, that we were notified by Mendes during the Di Maria signing that his price has dropped to 24m.

I aint gonna get my hopes up here, but he's gonna make a serious mark for his next club. The fact that he won Player of the Month 4 times last season - out of 9, says a lot for a so-called "limited player" from folk that havent seen him play.
He's got hype for a reason..
Would like to see him here for that cut price but not at the expense of Vidal. Either we get both, or if we can only sign one we should go for Vidal, more experience, he's a leader and will control games.

People expecting him and Vidal need a reality check. It's either or, 24 million pounds for a 22-year-old who is perfectly suited to our needs or 30-40 million for a 27-year-old who is a better player but not as suited to our needs. I'd take Carvalho.
I am split whether i want Vidal or him now. Happy with either though.
Blind seems bit underwhelming in comparison. Haven't seen that much of these Blind and Carvalho both though tbf but from little i have seen and read/heard Carvalho seems to have greater potential.

Should get them both. All it takes is 1 injury for our midfield to look useless again. Need reinforcements
No way are we buying both him and Vidal. Sounds like a strategic leak from the club to put some pressure on Juve - i.e. accept the wedge on the table now or we walk away.
I wouldn't get rid of Fletcher, I think he's a good man to have in the squad during this transition, but I agree with the rest. In an ideal world we'd go all out for two more central midfielders, leaving Darren, in effect, 5th choice, while Carrick will have to pull his finger out of his arse to even get minutes. Strootman in a year's time to replace one of our stalwarts would make for good planning.
A midfield three of Carvalho, Vidal and Herrera, just for talking's sake, wouldn't be getting bullied anytime soon. We'd go from having the weakest midfield to arguably the strongest in one summer. Sadly, I don't see it happening. The thing is, it's probably doable. Or was, perhaps.

It would be very ideal to get both of them. We'd also have the possibility of flexibility without dramatically reducing quality.
I don't watch him week in and week out but going by the YouTube videos he seems very limited going forward, yes he breaks up play and intercepts well, but just plays simple lay offs and sideways passes. In comparison looking at our rivals guys like Yaya Toure and Matic not only do that but also have great passing, shooting and goals in them.
Going off youtube Videos doesn't seem that limited. In the compilation posted above plays some good through passes as well, Runs with the balls in a toure like burst through the middle and also scores good goals.
When i've seen him play been more limited though has played some good balls spreading play.
Vidal would be awesome, but I'd take either and be really happy. We won't get both, not this summer anyway.
We won't need a CB, if we sign a CDM protecting them. At the moment our defence at times is left with very little protection.
Also if we sign Vidal, we one injury away from playing Fletcher or Cleverley. We need to build a good squad.
Given this team the lack of bollocks, I'd prefer Vidal tbh.

Carvalho is the size of a vending machine but yeah I'd love Vidal for this reason among others. Between him, Herrera, Rojo and Di Maria I think we'd have brought in the right balance of harriers and hard nuts.

Having watched both Matic and William Carvalho almost every game when they were in the portuguese league, i have no doubts that Carvalho is a better passer than Matic. You also mention goals but do you even know that in one season Carvalho scored 4 goals (which is very good for a DM) and Matic scored 9 in 3 seasons?

No team really has 2 30 million CM's sitting on the bench tbh, like some are suggesting here and they won't be happy about it either.
Even City's or Chelsea's backup CM's are hardly Strootman, Herrera level. Real have Khedira out of the lineup and he is sulking and probably running out his contract.

I think that's because he played in the WC Semi's so started late like RVP and Fernando did well first game.
That really is an odd one. A player from the brazilian national team, gets benched for someone who doesn´t even get called up. Fernando usually is a manager favourite. Has been like this since the start of his Porto career, seems like it´s happening again at City. Very competent player in that specific position.

Nope mate. Nothing new. Not a single mention about this. Only news are that we bought Sacko from Bordeaux and that Benfica is interested in Campbell from Arsenal.
