William Carvalho

Just talking transfers with my old man, and he reckons this is a smoke screen for a Vidal deal. He watches a lot of Spanish footy and doesnt rate him.

Mata, Herrera and Vidal would work similarly to Di Maria, Khedira and Modric combination that started the champions league final.

Khedira is more defensive minded than Herrera or Vidal. Modric sits back a bit more as well.

I suspect it would be better then this midfield

---------Fellaini----------

----Ando-----Cleverley----

That does give me bad thoughts that the fact all 3 of those players are on our books, and some people question why we finished 7th.

Plus Carrick at 33 was not exactly well ahead of the pack, when he is seen as our best midfielder by a mile, it puts things into perspective

That´s alright mate, we have only been independent from Spain since 1139.

Or, more accurately, we have existed for far longer (more than 300 years) than Spain, which didn't exist back then.

Khedira plays box to box for Madrid. Modric plays similar to how Herrera will play for us I imagine.

Correct. I should have said that the Kingdom of Portugal was founded in 1139 instead of talking of independence.

Just read the last few posts. Pretty obvious that there are hardly any news on Carvalho.

No news mate. Actually been more rumours about Rojo our argentinian internacional and Slimani algerian internacional rather than Carvalho. Like i said, it´s highly unlikely he moves this summer. Our President has said there has been no offers and i believe in him.

I think they are outpricing him with that supposed release clause. Do you think he will still be valued the same if he has an average season this year.

The release clause is merely indicative but our President has been saying that he can only leave for the clause level because we have financial leverage with the Champions League revenue. That´s the main cause. With that income we covered the majority of the budget. Him being our best player last year and also the fact we lost our manager to Mónaco aren´t helping circunstancies for a move either.

Your president is quite clearly saying that he can only leave for his clause because he'd quite like to get a lot of money for him and maybe reinvest it in the squad for the coming Champions League campaign.

Our interest has clearly dropped and he's trying to drum up some interest in him. There's no other reason why a manager would come out and talk like he has when nobody is trying to buy his player anyway.

This. Seems to me he wants to sell, otherwise why is he drawing the attention?

Seems to have gone quiet on united potentially singing this dude.
Not worth it for the price being quoted anyway. Sure he's good but for 30+ we want somebody who is going to be the full ticket. Vidal / Schweinsteiger / Kroos etc..

Shaw was just under 30m English factor granted.

What? You are clearly talking bollocks or better yet you don´t know what you are talking about. He´s not trying to drum up interest at all. Reporters ask him about William because he is our best player and he says he hasn´t recieved an offer at all and points to the clause. How is that druming up interest? If he was trying to attract interest he would probably say that he recieved many offers, that would be logical. Furthermore in this season he has set the objective on winning the league in contrast with last season where he just wanted Champions League qualification. We need all the players for that. Specially William. Our squad is practically closed we just need a Center back and a Winger. We don´t need money to reinvest.

I don´t even understand your last phrase. A manager? When did you our manager say anything about William? He didn´t. What i said is that after losing our manager to Mónaco, i can´t see our President selling our best player without a very interesting compensation. It would be two huge blows to the team. I keep hearing this point over and over again about our President trying to drum up interest or sell the player but that isn´t true at all. But i suppose you know more than me, i only follow my club on daily basis. You must have some ITK sources close to our president.

Drawing interest is answering in tedious fashion to reporters questions? Mind you last time he was asked about William was at our club annual gala about 2 weeks ago.

If you were to list all the players in Spain in order of talent, Carvalho would certainly be last

Glad this has gone quiet, not quite at the level we need him to be.

I did think about Carvalho the other day when van Gaal said in his Press Conference that Herrera and Shaw were already on the list of targets and he gave his approval because he likes them.

Given Carvalho was also said to be amongst those previous targets, does that mean we've moved away from him now?

I'd say we've either moved away from him or he's a backup option if we can't sign preferred targets. It wouldn't surprise me if that story were leaked just to try and catalyse some interest from ourselves and anyone else interested.

I do have a bad feeling though, that if he goes to Arsenal he'll turn out to be a class act for many years to come :(

Moved away from him to where though?

Maybe LVG said to just buy Herrera for midfield right now and then he will evaluate.

I'm still holding out that we get him. No news could be good news.

Certainly this summer it could be, yes. We're not giving anything away from within the Club it seems. Even the Vermaelan rumour originally came from the Arsenal side of things.
