Watching that video...I have no explanation as to why he was loaned out.

And before anyone comes up with his attitude in training etc, people like Pallister, Bruce, Sheringham, were known not to be great trainers

I think it is more of a case of (in Moyes' eyes mind you) Zaha not being 'Manchester United' ready at the moment. I don't think Moyes is childish to have some personal problems against him and that's why not playing him. The tracking back is crucial in 4-4-2 as otherwise while defending we will be man down. Yes Ronaldo too didn't track back but it did cost us goals on occasions. Due to his overall genius, which is once in generation kind of, that flaw got overlooked by fans. SAF still got him to work on that aspect.
I think Ole knows what will be expected of Zaha at United, and he will mold him for that and send him back ready for next season. See, as a fans, it is not that bad scenario for us. If Zaha does very well and plays key role in keeping Cardiff up, Moyes will definitely include him more or in other words, he will have no choice otherwise.

That is all well and good and perfectly acceptable.....However, at this moment in time, David Moyes appears not to be "Manchester United" ready and it makes this that bit more frustrating.

I'm sure there is somebody else who i think of when assigning such a label, let me see if i can recall who it might be...

Look, whining here is not going to get Moyes sacked. I know he has done some mistakes but I would let him finish season, give summer transfer window to bring good players and see how it goes.
Anyway, this is Zaha thread. It is better to discuss to talk about his performances than turn it into yet another Moyes-bashing thread. We have enough of them already.

I agree. There is enough threads to discuss Moyes and bashing him on here isn't going to get him sacked.
We're just making the point that, and it's a fair one, that it's hard to trust his judgement on this if he thinks he's not "United ready"

He carried Palace last year to promotion and there was severe pressure involved there. A 20 min sub appearance against Newcastle is not going to tell us anything about whether he can handle it here. Especially seen as he done well in pre season also

It was admittedly trite but not wholly without its place, for i can't believe such misplaced arrogance to have been a good way to manager the situation with Zaha.

Yeah, so loan is good opportunity isn't it? Here he might not have started as many games anyway as he will in Cardiff. We know he is bit raw still. This 4 odd months under Ole can really help him and we can have a player on hand who can get into United team next season and if that happens, I am sure Moyes will acknowledge it and act on it.

 Didn't get you?

My earlier facetious reply was the trite reference.

Moyes is where the misplaced arrogance came in. A rising talent with expectations of first team football is not going to take well to pontificating from Moyes, he with his feet barely under the table and with something to prove himself. The relationship will have required tact and inspiration.

I saw the second half late last night - and he actually did a decent job defending. And he was really good going forward - it's scary to think that we (read: Moyes) may have annoyed him so much that he doesn't want to play for us in the future. Because - he will be a cracking player

With Pep, Klopp and Mourinho apparently unavailable, Ole should have been our choice.

He wasn't experienced but neither was Pep. He is a winner, love the club, is loved by the fans and plays attacking football. That would have been romantic and maybe it would have worked.

He'll hopefully be one of the candidates the next time we'll look for a new manager (cough cough, summer 2015).
I don't know if it would be too soon - I'd hate to see him come here and fail abysmally. But how impressive was it to bring on Zaha so early in the game. Not afraid to go for it is he, God love him :)

Seems like he's done very well, happy for him, guy's young but needs to keep his head cool. Obviously Snodgrass was a cnut and tried provoking him there. I hope that Ole plays him often enough so it's not some fruitless loan.

Different eras, and more pertinently, different managers.

Moyes is famed for his love of work ethic within his players. Whether that's right or wrong isn't really relevant in this thread as we have no indication how well Zaha trained anyway.

We should put in an cheeky bid for his fella. Seems to be what we're crying out for.

There is a difference playing for us and cardiff. If he does well, hopefully he'll feature next season. He'll be like a 'new signing' ...:(

Better performance than I expected, watching that video, and whoever said the assist was the only thing of note he did (on the previous page) was wrong. For starters there was another perfectly weighted ball to Bellamy where the defender clattered him and a square ball to Mutch I think which could have ended up as assists. His link-up play was very, very good and the weight and quality of his final balls were very good. He also eases the pressure on his teams because he gives the opposition something to deal with and handle. Should definitely have been given more of a chance here but I'm glad Ole is looking after him now anyway. Hopefully Zaha continues putting performances in like that week in week out.

Ridiculous that he wasn't given more games here prior to his loan move and that's not even hindsight talking.

I saw him for the England under 21's a few months back and there was a buzz about him every time he got the ball.

If we're going to persist with wingers then look at what you've got in your own squad ffs. Adnan has been one of the only bright spots this season. How much more positive would it have been to have brought this guy through too?

Great to see from Zaha,Bellamy must be relishing playing along side him.

Unfortunately for Zaha, he isn't a useless load of shite who can only use one foot. He was never going to make it

I think I'll wait until he puts in a few more of them performances this season for Cardiff before I start questioning Moyes about why it was he didn't give him more chances. I have my doubts that if he was tearing up trees like that in training etc that Moyes would be that stupid to leave him looking on like that and then loaning him out.

Ole on Zaha. Going forward he's one of the best I've seen..

As politically incorrect as it may be, I've got a lot of faith in Moyes. But; this whole Zaha zaga is zomewhat discombobulating.

Take note Moyes. That is how you motivate your players. Not by making them run around in training until their ears bleed!

He plays decent for 45 mins against Norwich, decent. Cue mass overreaction on redcafe.

Don't go there, girlfriend. I said he's probably going to Brazil in the summer as soon as his loan was confirmed.

I don't think that he would have win things immediately, but at-least he would have played attacking football and there isn't a chance that we would have got worse results than under Moyes. Also, the fans would have been more patient. And in the end, as I said, Pep was less experienced than Ole. If he is really good, it would have worked.

I read yesterday in an article that United fans want to win and to watch exciting football. But if the manager gives to them only one of those two things, they'll still be happy. Moyes has failed to deliver in both of those categories.

Looks good when running into space, or on the counter in that video. While that may not transfer straight over to United where we generally have to break teams down more than anything, his passing looks fairly decent as well. Wouldn't have had any issues with him getting time over young out wide to see how he goes in our team.

Great to see him do well. Just a damn shame it's not in our red shirt.

One thing I have noticed and that video highlights it, he doesn't back his pace enough. He could so easily just go past defenders but he always seems to stand them up and cut inside into traffic where he can find a pass. Nothing wrong with that but I would like to see him adopt a more old fashioned style and just use his pace when he has the chance to.

If he does well there they might make it permanent, if not I think he could be off to a better side like Spurs or Everton.

Can see why he's been loaned out to be fair, yeah he gives you width but he doesn't aimlessly whip balls into the box enough, wingers shouldn't play through balls.
