It was criminal to only have used him in the 1 sub appearance when ahead of him is total shiite...

Solskjaer after the game:

Wilfried Zaha made the difference - Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised substitute Wilfried Zaha after the debutant played a vital role and helped inspire his side to victory.

Zaha, brought on in the 38th minute, created Cardiff's first goal as they came from behind to beat Norwich 2-1 and move off the bottom of the league.

"Zaha came on and made the difference," said Solskjaer, who won his first league match since taking charge.

"He has pace, power and technique. We just have to teach him defending."

He has also won two caps for England, but is yet to score an international goal.

Cardiff signed England international winger Zaha on loan from Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

Initially left on the bench by Solskjaer, his introduction seven minutes before the break drew a huge cheer from the crowd and he repaid their faith with a game-changing performance.

Darting in from the left, he slipped a perfect through-ball to Craig Bellamy, who became the first player to score for seven different Premier league clubs as he cancelled out Robert Snodgrass's opener with a low finish.

"It was a decision I had to make there and then," added Solskjaer. "I was hoping we'd be in a better position, but I felt we needed some spark, and that's what we got from Zaha."

Less than two minutes later, Kenwyne Jones marked his debut with a goal, firing home from close-range at the second attempt after his initial header was blocked.

Cardiff were indebted to their goalkeeper David Marshall, who produced a string of superb saves to deny Norwich, who also struck the woodwork twice and had two goals disallowed for offside.

Solskjaer admitted his team had ridden their luck to come away with their first win in eight league games and his first victory in the league after three defeats.

"Before now, we've had some very good performances but no luck," said Solskjaer. "Maybe the fair result would have been a draw if you look at possession and shots, but we got a result with a little bit of luck."

Jones, who joined Cardiff from Stoke in a swap deal with Peter Odemwingie, said he hopes the result can mark a turning point in his new team's season.

"I think a win breeds confidence in the squad," he said. "The team was a bit down but hopefully today is the start of a new era."

He'll do well now. He has a positive 'real' Manchester United manager in Ole.

No one has ever doubted this young lad's ability. Ole will show him how it's done because he knows the United way to play football. Pity he's managing the arsonists but I hope Zaha does him proud.

This loan spell will hopefully be a very productive one for him / us.

Depends. Even a good loan he still has to come back to Moyes. However if someone else is in charge when his back they yes very effective. Honestly we have an array of good players just need a new spine.

Lets hope Ole comes with him to replace the useless man in charge right now. Zaha has a big future though, he just needs a manager who believes in him.

Exactly, some people defending Moyes's decision in this aspect when Kagawa, Valencia and Young have been completely awful at times this season. Lo and behold he gets one match and already has made an impact.

Hire Ole after we sack Moyes.
With Pep, Klopp and Mourinho apparently unavailable, Ole should have been our choice.

He wasn't experienced but neither was Pep. He is a winner, love the club, is loved by the fans and plays attacking football. That would have been romantic and maybe it would have worked.

He'll hopefully be one of the candidates the next time we'll look for a new manager (cough cough, summer 2015).

 Like feck he was.

He should have been if we were going by the inexperienced/potential route. He's a United legend, the fans love him, he won 2 league titles for the first time in Molde's history and the fans and the board would have given him the proper time. He's also probably a lot more inclined to play attacking/possession football then Moyes is so would be welcome here for that too.
First choice should have been somebody experienced and world class like Mourinho, Ancelotti, Hiddink, Klopp, Van Gaal, etc., but when those options were all out, we should have put our faith in Ole.

Not sure how many people actually watched the match, but I had it recorded so followed from when Wilf came on.

He actually only had the one assist - when he Norwich played the ball right to him just outside the area and he played a pretty perfectly weighted through ball to Bellamy who scored. Great cameo, and right as he came on too.

But to be honest he barely did anything else for the rest of the match. Norwich basically layed seige to the Cardiff goal which led a charmed life, and he was the outlet starting on the left, then moving to the middle when Ole brought Jones back to defend.

There are dozens of very viable sticks to beat Moyes with and I'd like to see him go back to managing at his level, but Zaha's performance today was no better than Young's in the same position.

As an aside, Fabio was terrible. Awful positioning led to the first goal, and then went down with cramp about 60 mins in. Hopefully a long run will get him back up to speed, but he was a bit of a liability today.

Usually agree with you regarding Moyes.

But have to disagree there. Pep had a great squad. All he had to do was motivate them and get the tactics spot on.

This job would have been too big for Ole. We should have gone for somebody short term like Hiddink or Van Gaal and then go for a long term appointment.

That would have been great too.

But I think that Ole would have grown into the job. Not win immediately but form the basements for the future. He looks to have all the right tools.

I rather we didn't go for Ole, I wouldn't stand hating him if things turned out badly.

Well from MotD (not much admittedly), Zaha also set up the chance for Mutch right after with some good play, and I read he played pretty well on the whole considering it was his first appearance at a new struggling club after being frozen out for half a season here. Fabio didn't look that bad either from what I heard (cardiff fans seem to have been impressed with him), same problems with him though, didn't play for a long time and his confidence is probably at an all time low. They'll both come good I think.

I wonder what Moyes would have done to Ronaldo when he first got to United? (Not saying that Zaha is the equivalent of Ronnie.) But Ronnie wasn't a great defender either. No tracking back.

In terms of how this season has went for Moyes; he'll probably keep Cardiff up.

zaha will play a huge role for cardiff, and i think he can help cardiff stay up.

won't surprise a bit if he ends up this season with more assists than valencia, young and nani combined.

I was thinking about this watching the video. He's a similar style player to Ronaldo and very different from Young and Valencia. I don't think Moyes would have rated Ronaldo as a young player because he doesn't do what he wants him to do, which is get to the byline and cross it x1000000! If a player doesn't fit in his tiny box, Moyes won't play him. Rather than adapting his play to his players, he keeps his shit football and forces his immensely talented players into it.

Zaha is very raw but he is an outstanding talent and offers more than the dynamic duo of Young and Valencia do in terms of creativity and attack. What are those two going to do? Valencia will run and cross it into his defender. Young will run, cut inside and cross into his defender. Zaha can actually beat his man, something neither of them is capable of, as well as pick out a killer pass. He had two or three in today's match, including an assist that brings his total higher than Ashley Young's in the league.

Watching that video makes his lack of appearances even more bizarre. I know teams will naturally set up differently against us and avoid him less time than he'd get for Cardiff but he still looks relatively good at holding up the ball and creating space - something our other wingers struggle with. A few appearances here and there would be understandable, but four? With one in the charity shield and another in the league cup.

Thanks for posting that video Matt, one which raises more questions from a United PoV.

How the hell did Moyes not find time to use a player like that? Much like Janzuaj he'd have been pulling defences all over the place, creating freedom for his team mates and helping to bring back a little of that fear factor.

I particularly liked the intelligence he showed there with his pass selection, an assertive player who would look to drive the game in a positive direction.

Hope Wilf stays fit, these next months could be important for all involved, if potentially galling for Dave.

Great game from him looking at the individual highlights. It's actually much better then 90% of the shit Young and Valencia have put out the last 2 years, unpredictable, positive, running at defenders and getting past them easily, and actually picking out a man with some clever passes. He could have had 3 assists that game really. Hope he keeps it going, he's definitely got potential.

I think what Sir Matt says is very true. Moyes likes his wingers to be hard working and he wouldn't have rated Ronaldo that highly if he had him probably. Moyes just doesn't know how to use players like that, with flair. There's room for one maybe like Januzaj, but he seems to like Young and Valencia more then Kagawa/Nani or Zaha as well, despite how bad they've been (Young has been a decent squad player these last few games though).

Did Rooney not have a bad relationship with Moyes as well and therefore felt the need to leave?

Very possibly, as regrettable as that may prove to be.

One of the qualities promoted about Moyes was his development of youth talent though. He could have rotated Zaha and Januzaj over the months, on the one hand reducing the pressure and on the other to keep people guessing. If Moyes is still here in August i hope that he can move beyond this disagreement with Wilf.

All our players are gonna be shagging Moyes' daughter to get summer moves now. Giggsy will be retiring and he's still gonna shag her.
