Wilfried Zaha - Sold to Crystal Palace

It didn't have to be. He showed a lot of promise but it's been suggested from several sources that his attitude isn't the best.

He might be the next Ravel Morrison. There was another player with a lot of promise but who's attitude has seriously hampered his ability.

I'm far from a fan of Morrison but he had alot more ability then Zaha ever did.

Buying young players with promise is always a gamble though isn't it? You can either have the next Giggs on your hands or a player that's reached his peak early and who will never really improve.

The ability of an average 25 year old premiership player in a teenager looks phenomenal, but most never get any better than that and when they get to 25 are just that average premiership player themselves.
Very true.

Which is why I refuse to get carried away with Januzaj ("future ballon d'or" and all that...)
He's above most in his age group. But chances are that they'll catch up, and he'll stagnate to a degree. And he'll end up much closer to the average in his age group within a few years.

There's a chance he'll continue to grow/get better at the same rate, and become a world beater, but I don't really expect it, to be honest.

Zaha, on the other hand, isn't even that talented.
I never saw him making it here, and never do. His 'attitude' is only half the problem. The other half being that he's not actually that good anyway.

Januzaj is a bit different as he's never really been physically gifted. He didn't dominate at youth level with speed or strength. Those two traits are important at youth level and can make a youth player look far more dangerous than if they were to play against players as athletic.

Bolasie is never in control of what he is doing. Not even he knows what he's going to do next.

Zaha lacks end product and is too busy trying to beat his man 4 times and then only puts in a good cross 1 out of 5 times.
I'd say both sentences describe both Bolasie and Zaha.

However much scouting and research you do into a player, you can never predict how they deal with the step up to United - some players thrive on the challenge to work harder whereas others prefer to go back to being the big fish in a small pond where they are picked every week regardless of their performance in training.

Also sometimes we are rushed into buying sooner than we would probably like due to interest from other clubs - I think that was probably the case with Zaha with quite a few teams sniffing around him at the time.

Anyway at least he is getting regular starts at the moment, he needs game time.

But his attitude was also questioned at Cardiff. Seems to me he has made a few quid, bought a few cars and will live from that.

Will never be a Utd player IMO.

Zahas problem in the second half was trying to beat his man more than once when he didnt need to. He made a yard of space easily and then for some reason cut back to take him on again. I do agree that if he can get a cross from his left foot, he will be more potent. He did set up the equaliser though.

Bolasie is not a bad player though

He's an ok player with absolutely no end product. He can beat a man but lacks any consistency with his final ball.

Anyway, point was, Zaha should be proving himself to be a far better player than Bolaise. Bolaise is fine at Palace, whereas Zaha cost us a-lot of money and generated a crazy level of hype when playing in the Championship. So much so, that he got two England caps and a move to Manchester United.

He should really be standing out at Palace and showing himself to be far ahead of the likes of Bolaise and Puncheon, but he simply isn't.

I was never sold by Zaha whatsoever and he has done absolutely nothing to convince me since. Is he actually any better than the likes of Ince, Bolaise and Puncheon? If so, then it's very marginal.

Zaha and Bolasie are similar in that they are very fast and have very little end product. Zaha's advantage is that he seems to know what he is trying to do when running with that ball where as Bolasie never looks in control of his own legs. Either way Zaha will never be a Man Utd player, I expect we'll sell him in the summer.

After watching the match compilation i'm surprised to hear people say he had a bad game. I admittadly didn't Watch the game and I know that youtube clips can be deceiving, but it looks like he put in a very good performance. Could have set up 3-4 goals for CP.

He didn't have a bad game, just that he could have quite easily had a much better game if he actually used his brain. Or had a brain.

Absolutely invisible in the first half so far. If he cant pull the strings for Palace how can he expect playing here.. not a good buy

Have to disagree. He's been fantastic. Hasn't done a thing wrong so far.

I hope were not getting rid of him yet. I like him. Alot of people have been wanting Nani back but I don't Think that Zaha's far off.

Clearly is

You're comparing one of the best forward players in the champions league this season with someone who can't start every week for Crystal Palace. Smell the coffee

So i start watching the game in 2nd half 50 minutes in or so and he put in like 2/3 dangerous balls already in 15 minutes though they didn't amount to much.

Also had just skinned dier again who is really struggling.

And Warnock takes him off for Puncheon. Even the commentators were saying he was looking their most threatening.

Ok, I probably went a bit over board there but I do feel like he deserves a bit more credit than he's receiving.

Probably, he has been good for Palace when he's actually played. Its just that its still not the standard he'd need to compete with players like Nani and Di Maria

Had Dier on toast all afternoon, I don't know why he was replaced by Puncheon.

He'll never make it here. He's barely getting much game time at Palace.

Warnock: "Wilfried and Bolaise were brilliant, but my man of the man was Chamakh - he covered every blade of grass."

Excellent match last night by all accounts. Hopefully cements a position in Crystal Palace team now. Has all the talent in the world to make it.

I really hope he's develops into a decent player and gets his chance here. People describe him like its unusual for young players to lose their way. Giggs was the same and questions were asked about him when he started to follow Ince around. Also there are some real racial stereotypes being made about players. The natural ability is there to see. The position he plays and the criticism you could add every winger that has put a red shirt on here. That includes CR7.......

Racial stereotypes?

What's the racial? Black players don't have natural ability?

Racial stereotypes?

Yes, still the institutional racial stereotypes held about some about black players than their white peers. These go back as far as the 70's and is absolute nonsense. Many of these allegations could be made of Powell but it doesn't make the same column inches......
