Personally I doubt it'll be on loan, he's last in the pecking order of the strikers and I can't see him making it in that role. Van Gaal doesn't see him as capable of playing as a wing back (does anyone?) so this is a last resort. I don't really think Van Gaal wants to play him at all but may be doing so just to put him in the shop window so the club can recoup some of the silly money Fergie paid for him.Basically, he's being shipped out, probably on loan.
Not quite sure what you mean by "deeper forward"?Zaha used to play as a forward for Palace if I remember right, shouldn't be too much of a problem for him play upfront, mostly as the deeper forward I guess!
Might be up against Vida at the back for Inter, great chance for him to make his mark and prove a point to fans.
Not according to this :The 3-5-2 is temporary. We'll most probably play 4-3-3.. or at least that is what van Gaal wants to play.
So there will be room for wide players who can't play as wingbacks.
Basically, he's being shipped out, probably on loan.
He'll probably get the "Robben-role" we saw at the World Cup. Looking forward to see him play there as i cant recall seeing him playing there beforeWhats the point of playing a player like zaha as a striker?, its kind of a waste of his abilities imo.
Id much prefer to see Wilson given game time upfront.
What I meant was that he'll play in the role that Robben did for Holland at the WC, be the striker who roams more and plays off the main man.Not quite sure what you mean by "deeper forward"?
Van Gaal has said he'll be using the 3-5-2 system so it would seem he'll be one of the two strikers in the second half.
Very relevant quotes from LVG today -In the PL of course. I'm talking in pre-season where everyone is being used in unfamiliar positions and the likes of Nani are being given 45 mins in central midfield.
Its definitely more likely Zaha when he gets his chance, will play up front. I just wondered how he'd react to being put at wingback like Young was
He never played as a central striker for Palace, though quite often as a left winger in a front 3. For England U21s I think he played a couple of times down the middle but looked pretty useless there.
Personally I think he may not ever make it as a Premier League player, but may terrorize the odd defence in the Championship. His trickery can look great against slow defenders but won't be as effective in the Premier League, especially when he doesn't have the mentality to out-think defenders and is very easily demoralized. He spent 6 months playing like a pub player for Palace after we'd signed him, looked like his mind and therefore work-ethic just wasn't there.
Maybe you can row him over on a boat before kick off ? You'll be doing a lot of the work owing to his broken finger though.
So scoring two goals in the promotion playoff semifinal and winning a penalty, not to mention man of the match, in the final in Wembley is something a lot of pub players do?
It's a big, big ask for him. He's by no means a natural finisher and he's last in the pecking order of strikers. I think he'll have to show something quite spectacular in the 45 minutes he's got in order to be kept on.Hope he enjoys tonight might not play much more after it
Can't wait to see him rip shit up tonight.
