He has everything to be a great players, from football quality to his modest personality.
We've never had a croatian, yet had a lot of Balkan players, weird!
@JPRouve was saying though that we have the front four and we need two sort of work horse/ fairly intelligent men behind those 4. It makes sense that we now are not after fabregas. What Van Gaal wants is two work horses who can pass in the hole. Fabregas is a great passer, no question, but his work rate isnt as good as it can be.

I think signing Strootman is a big risk cause of his injury. He'll be back in October which is late. And I dont see him leaving Roma.
Chelsea signing Cesc is a bit weird. I thought him and Jose hated each other. Arsenal fans wont like that deal that's for sure.

Koke would be the first choice id say, but he is intent on staying at A Madrid. Vidal will be priced out of the market. Van gaal would ahve loved pogba in there as the davids role.
I think we will but it might be so underwhelming it'd be like no reinforcements whatsoever.
Seedorf is the greatest box to box that i've ever seen. But I'm not talking about level but profil, Fabregas is a better player than Strootman but can't do what Strootman does meaning balanced the team.
That would be an instant adding an element of surprise to our midfield that usually is portrayed by opponent's tacticians as static and throwing passes on the wings type of formation. Kova would just go with the flow of dribbling and in one second become an attacker with deadly ability of accurate last pass to finisher.Yup. And who better than Kova.

seedorf was class alright. Strootman would work harder no question and like you say would be better for Van gaals system.
We have the front four, its the two behind that are questionable.
If we do sign two MFs, certainly Mr Fellani will be shipped out.

It's quite worrying that the only target who people seem to think we can get is Strootman and by the time he's fit we might already be out of the running for things...
How about Sami Khedira? Because let's face it, we aren't signing Vidal, Koke etc and Strootman is injured. Khedira will do wonders in our midfield and then there's Kovacic, or maybe just go for Lars Bender.
History books say it's an important figure of any collective that scream and motivate the whole team to harder effort while creating chances for others and bossing the area with usually one another 'midfielder' who may be different in abilities to create a mix of football goods for the team.
I dig out a pic what appears to show how midfielders looked like before they started to disappear like few species of wolves and tigers.
I think that's how midfielder looks like... Not sure if this pic describe the species well but it definitely look useful in terms of pure football standards

So annoyed to miss out on Fabregas but not surprised in the slightest. Will have to wait and see who van Gaal thinks is the solution to our midfield woes but to see Chelsea strengthen with a player who we could have really done with is worrying. Our midfield is waaay behind all the top teams at the moment and I just hope van Gaal doesn't underestimate quite how rubbish it is.
We'll go and buy Clasie for £6.75m and be done with.

Frustrating it is even though a lot of time left before August 31st. Just a kick in the teeth that Ed chased him for two months last Summer. I know some fans say we don't need him or he wont fit an LvG style team but to see a team in our league that is already stronger than ours on paper sign another world class player, is hard to take.
I see the gulf widening especially if they seal the Costa deal too, as Chelsea were only really a top striker away from winning the league last year.
Chelsea have bought two top class CMs in 6 months while we have fecked about for 6 years.

We are falling further behind Chelsea rather than catching them up. Matic and Fabregas in midfield will be an awesome combination and they have addressed their main weakness by getting Costa.

I think he'll be decent but nothing great. 10-15 goals in all comps would be my guess.

For me the bigger bigger bone of contention than buying new players would be moving the unfit morass we already have. I'd hate to see the likes of Young, Cleverley, Anderson, Fellaini etc get any more time here when its clear as day that they put a serious drag on our quality of play and not fit for the club but unfortunately we havem;t even heard anything about offers being considered for these.
Me too, Woodward needs to get rid of them, if he doesn't i'll be pissed. Except Cleverley he can do something under Van Gaal.

The players you've mentioned are the absolute top bracket players whereby it will be difficult to convince them to come here when we are at the crossroads we are at . Couldn't see Fabregas potentially sacrificing his prime years in a bid to reclaim our spot back on the top of the pile whilst Chelsea were offering him or could match any salary we could offer . My point is that we need to look at where players like Matic, Gundogun, Fernandinho et al were before they landed at our rivals doorstep . We have looked for the new Keane and Scholes for over a decade but then the players we are drooling over have been signed left, right and centre . Rather than being delusionally snobbish, as going for Bayern's top three players attests to, we need to look at players a rug or two below that level, players who see us as a step up even in the doldrums we find ourselves in and we need to judge players on the attributes they possess and build from there .
