Which midfielder will we sign this summer?

No doubt Fergie retiring will impact some chances we have with some players.

United is of course a massive club, and could easily attract a wide range of players on the spectrum - but if there was a choice between us and a club of a similar caliber, being managed under SAF could easily edge the decision our way.

Does the new manager look for targets of his own, or would he receive the final recommendations from Martin Ferguson, who's of course also retiring, and go for players the club have chased for the past few years?

I feel drained. This could potentially be an easy summer, with players wanting to be part of the "Next United", or a very difficult one.

Could you imagine if we lost Fergie AND Rooney this summer and replace them with Moyes and Fellaini

will be an interesting summer, no doubt Fergie had a transfer target list, but now that he's gone, the new man coming in may have different ideas. So maybe, we may have a very busy summer (or not at all)

If we're to believe Fergie and Gill, they've kept tabs on Moyes for quite a while. Wouldnt it be fitting if they've talked to Moyes about potential transfers this summer, seing how we've monitored players for the last 4 months?

I'd much prefer Osman to Fellaini tbh

Nah. There wasn't long ago when a lot of posters liked the idea of transferring Fellaini, who just had his best ever season.

He is a quality player though not our quality. Osman is shite.

Gibson and Fellaini to compete with Cleverley to partner Carrick next season then.

Fellaini is just too of a sparky character for my liking. If someone wrongs him, he can kick off in an instant.

Shot in the dark, but I think Moyes will fall in love with Powell and make him a first teamer next season.

Does anyone think we'll have trouble attracting big names to United now? Obviously we're still one of the biggest clubs in the world but with a new manager, will more high-profile players want to take the risk of coming here knowing that the stability of Fergie is gone?

Makes no difference. How often do Madrid change managers? And they've never had a problem attracting talent. Same goes for Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea...

This. Will not be a problem.. Still I'm sure SAF was a huge selling factor.. Let' hope the next manager can carve his own legacy though.

FFs we've gone from Modric, Strootman to signing the likes of Osman, Gibson and Cahill.

On a brighter note i believe we have already identified our targets for this summer.

I'm sure Moyes will have the final say.

It'll be a culture shock for him. His transfer budget will go from 50p to £50m.

Fellaini is a good player. People saying he's shite are being overly dramatic :)
. Some need to realize you don't have a squad of cristiano ronaldos. You need someone to get stuck in. He can play defense, midfield and up top and he's still young. Would be a good buy for most of the big clubs

It'll be interesting to see what he does. I'm sure he'll bring a midfielder in or promote from within

If we go for Felliani my only worry would be that we will adopt a more direct game, otherwise he is decent player but not great.

Christ, from wanting a midfielder to take you to CL winning level to speculating over Leon Osman in the space of 24 hours. Football's a funny sport.

We're just trying to hold on, Alastair; desperately holding on

You lot do realise that Moyes has probably watched footballers from clubs other than Everton, right? There's probably a few he'd love to have bought if Everton had any money.

People are just venting and being sarcastic. Moyes will have a bigger budget at his disposal and he will have the lure of playing for a huge club behind him. He'll look to the players he will have always dreamed about but couldn't even dare to entertain the thought of trying for them when he was at Everton.

What about Xabi Alonso? He's doing a Ronaldo and hasn't signed a new contract at Madrid. Has two years left on it like Cristiano.
