What is Luis Suarez worth?

Raises question of whether Ronaldo want's a CF position....

Doubt it personally. He has the freedom to do pretty much anything in his current role. And I believe his current position suits his style much better than if he was asked to play up top.

On the other hand, knowing his personality, it could be a chance to get the team to play for him more and give him more chances closer to goal.

Perhaps. Though he gets it all already and has the chance to drive from deeper which suits him better. That said, they play such a fluid interchanging system already. It'd be the same if Suarez moved there too.

He obviously has a clause in his contract, I'd put money on it...

As we found with Ronaldo. What Madrid wants, they absolutely get. If they want him badly then he'll go either this season or the next season.

It's the other way around - They will also need Suarez to want it as badly as Ronaldo did.

He won't turn them down. For Latin players, playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid is he dream, not playing in the north of England.

That is almost a given. He is not a Scouser who will not thinking of leaving the club. Plus it's Real Madrid we are talking about here.

He badly wanted to leave for Arsenal last summer. Do you think just because he will play in CL next summer will be enough for him to not join Madrid?

Luis we go again.

The lure of Real may be too much. It would be nice to keep him but I'd want more than Bale money now. This is not going to be cheap for Real by any stretch. If there is a clause hopefully that's set at a high end for clubs like Real.

'Will' not 'may'. Don't forget he wanted out last summer.
About the only con I can imagine he'd see is that he wont be the main man at Madrid like he is at Liverpool. But he'd still have his days in the sun anyway, starting with his presentation.

I don't even think age will deter Madrid, they paid £47million of a 29 year old Zidane and Kaka was the same age as Suarez when they paid £55m for him. Real Madrid and Barca are super clubs who if they show enough interest in a player they will probably get them.

Exactly.

And now Madrid calling?

If they had of shown any sign of wanting him last season, he'd have been off in a flash.

They are able to pay Bale £300k a week.

If you add in image rights, sponsorship, marketability I think his overall pay could be doubled at Real.

That would make him on more than Ronaldo so he won't get that much, also I think Bale's salary is closer to £200,000 than £300,000, I don't think it is much more than what Tottenham were prepared to offer him.

Surely:
Bale Isco Ronaldo
----Suarez

Why is that more likely? Suarez is less suited to playing a lone CF than CR.. Bale used to play LW, so that made more sense to me, with CR up top and Isco behind, Bale & Suarez changing wings.. Scary thought however they decide to play them

I think Suarez is very well suited to play lone striker. Effectively just swapping Benzema for Suarez.

Bale on the right will score more goals than Bale on the left; part of Ronaldo's success comes down to him starting in the wide position and ending up in the striker position, thus evading the tight marking of a centre forward. Ronaldo will make his way up top score tons anyway, so why reduce Suarez' goals by playing him further back?

Like you say, however they play (if Suarez goes there) they'll be scary for everyone. And they'll be pretty flexible anyway.

Edit: Thinking about it, I doubt Isco would be in there.

Got to agree with @Shinjisan. It's frustrating that Madrid effectively can spend as much money as they want, partly because they benefit from being part of a duopoly on TV rights in Spain (which also suppresses every other team there) and also because of dodgy deals with the Spanish government over taxes and sales of land. They also use underhand tactics in the media.

Also they did this, the cnuts - (1:54)

So...

Suarez Isco Bale

Ronaldo

may be real next season... Hmm..
Would they line up so offensively? I'd reckon Modric and Di Maria are nailed on starters in midfield behind the forward players, but that front 4 + those 2 in CM leaves them very vulnerable. I'd be surprised if Ancelotti didn't caryr on with his 3 man midfield (Modric, Di Maria + Xabi Alonso if he's still there or someone else) and a front three of Bale, CR and Suarez. If Suarez signs of course.

.................Casillas
Carvajal-Ramos-Varane-Marcelo
..........Modric......Vidal
Bale............Isco..........Ronaldo
................Suarez

Possibly one of the greatest squads ever assembled.

A big IF considering they don't won Suaréz yet, but with all assumed, I'd imagine Xabi Alonso will play his first real bit part season next year, with their abundance of talent though, you could make XI's for fun.. But CR & Bale will always start and Isco was one of the best young players on the planet the last 2 years, can't see him being happening with sitting on the bench, so in short, if this move happens it could spark a reaction chain like a Benz to Arsenal, letting them stop chasing someone else etcetc as long as we end up with a few centre mids its happy days.

-------------------------Casillas
Carvajal------Ramos-------Varane-------Marcelo
-------------------Vidal---------Modric
--Bale----------------Di Maria---------------Ronaldo
-------------------------Suarez

I can see the difference, absolutely. But I believe we have the bollocks to say no to Madrid/Suarez if he wanted the move.

Fair enough. I don't think it has anything to do with bollocks though, what you did with Arsenal last summer was exactly what we did with Chelsea. Division rival, offering silly amounts of money, it is easy to say no from the club and easy for the player to not make quite as much fuss. When it is Real, it is generally a different story.

I'll be both surprised and impressed if you manage to keep Suarez over this summer if Real put on the whole song and dance they've done for Bale and Ronaldo most recently for example.

I'd also be surprised if his new contract didn't have a few actually legally binding clauses anyway.

Bayern with Ribery! Not sure what would happen now if they were to do their usual thing and go after one of our players, though we are in better position now than we were in 2009.

feck off Real! :(

That is true. Did they do their whole show for Ribery? I can't remember tbh.
